Nautico and Gremio both scored within the first twenty minutes in what unfolded to be a stalemate partnership, and lacklusre passing in midfield left sloppy play by both teams. Santo Andre maintained a solid result again Atletico Gremio whilst Goias, an underrated side, brisked past Coritiba and ensured a good position for the small club going into the tenth game whilst Botafogo and Sport Recife fought for a win, neither able to secure one.
