►PONERLA

As Fluminense kicked off, both clubs had every hope in mind to snatch a win so early in the season, as new coaches become nervous and veteran coaches are given high expectations. It took only one minute for the “Fenomeno” to tear up Fluminense defence, but Sandro, with impeccable defending, snatched the ball at exactly the right time. The conditions were wet on the pitch, and Tarta was simply far too fast for Corinthians to handle, having to catch up to him when he was nearly in the box. Ronaldo tried to scrape something for Corinthians, receiving a good through ball, but was pushed wide by Marioano, forcing him to cross it to a wating Lulinha, who had Sandro in front of him. As Sandro headed the ball out, it was evident he was almost an invisible brick wall for Fluminense.

It was in the 15th minute that the youngster Detinho found the breakthrough for Corinthians, after some sloppy defending Ronaldo found the ball at his feet, passing to Detinho, who easily slotted the ball into the left side netting to leave Fluminense down one goal. All of a sudden, Corinthians looked as if they had injected life into eachother, as Fluminense kicked off, Elias snatched the ball, ran down the wing and cross to Ronaldo, whose attempt at goal was blocked by a looming Digao, who kicked the ball out of play for an attacking throw in. Wellington was going to show how dangerous he was, a quick winger sprinting down the left wing, Roberto Carlos could barely handle him on the breaks.

After an attacking throw in, Ronaldo found Detinho in the box, who turned and rushed the shot, sending it well over the bar. After Ronaldo ran down the wing and cut into the box, a tackle by Cassio forced him to clear it for a corner kick, Corinthians first of the game. Unfortunately, Henrique came off his line and caught the ball firmly. It was Fred who found the breakaway for Fluminense, but Felipe cleverly came off his line, whipping the ball clear. Ronaldo tried to get that through ball to Detinho, but Sandro spotted it, chased it down and cleared the danger. The half time whistle drowing out the sound of the fans, a fifteen minute break for the teams to discuss tactics.

The most underrated winger in Brazil, young Elias, found Corinthians second and insurance policy. The second half had only just kicked of before Detinho drew a player on the wing, leaving a centre back position empty, Elias knew exactly where to run, straight into the open space in defence, from just 17 yards he took a touch to set the ball and simply placed it into the net off of the right post, sheer brilliance from the young winger, as he got on one knee and saluted the fans.

Elias after his match winner.

Fluminense won themselves a free kick in the 48th minute after Ronaldo tackled Dario hard. It seemed as if Elias had all to play for now, demanding the ball on the wing after finding open space, crossing it to Ronaldo, whose diving header went just wide of the target. After Andre Santos took on Fred, it earnt him a free kick after he came from a sideways position, to be honest, Fluminense were yet to get any real chance at goal, as Corinthians showed their dominance. It was Fred who finally managed to get a shot in front of goal, but Felipe was in an easy position, and let the ball come into his hands.

After, Fred seemed to be simply on a roll, yelling at his team mates for not giving him the ball, and when he received a good pass, it paid off, as he slotted it past Felipe to hit the post and dribble into the net, leaving the score at 2-1 with only twenty minutes left, a comeback cannot be out ruled by Fluminense, and will not be. Detinho once again threatened, forcing Sandro to tackle him, but remaining under pressure, the young Brazilian had to clear the ball to concede an attacking throw in.

Fred found his way into the clear with less than a minute to go as Corinthians fans covered their eyes, remembering he is a clinical finisher. To their relief, an offside position was announced, as he threw his hands in the air and Felipe simply clapped. At the other end of the pitch, a top quality cross by Tulio found Ronaldo in open space, but he had to wing around the ball, as it his the side netting and went just off target. The final whistle announcing the end of the game, and Corinthians can see themselves lucky scoring 2 in the first half, as the second half performance from Fluminense was simply top class.

Fred After His offside position.

Final Score::
Corinthians 2-1 Fluminense

Goals::
Detinho 15 [Corinthians]
Elias 47’ [Corinthians]
Fred 70 [Fluminense]

oh yeh Steve I almost forgot, I was talking to a mod about threads for FIFA10, and I'm allowed to start a thread for FIFA10 so long as I don't play games

(This isn't for anyone else, as I was the only guy who posted in the FIFA10 Manager Mode section before they locked it off.) So don't make a thread and say I told you so.

no mate you played a game

Also ... my situation isn't for anyone else, as I was the only guy who posted in the FIFA10 Manager Mode section before they locked it off.

I'm sure though that you can simply re-do the updates when the new FIFA10 section comes out, they'll seem like new I guess

The ones that go to the PC section are ones made on Football Manager, a rival game so they get booted from here.

►MATCH DAY TWO PRECIS

TimaoTV brings you the action, heartbreak, goals and most importantly, results of the second match day in the Brasileiro Serie A, with results and disappointments like these, it is no wonder the Brasileiro is the most exciting league in South America.

A somewhat typical week in the Brasileiro, most of the favorites won their fixtures, besides favorites Sao Paulo, who scraped an unlucky draw whilst key playmaker Hernanes was away from the squad due to an anke injury. With the misplacement of Douglas Costa to the Brazil under 21 side, Gremio still maintained a solid victory over a reelegation battler. The club with former legends such as Pele, Santos showed Vitoria they are not out of the title race after a exasperating victory away from home. Violence was present in a Botafogo fixture, the Avai manager had to be rushed to hospital after a full wine bottle was thrown at his head by a Botafogo fan, who was later arrested and charged for aggravated assault. Corinthians upheld fine form, managing a win against strong side, Fluminense. Their rivals, Palmeiras, found the net on four occasions thanks to young starlets Keirisson and Marquinhos, both who are rumoured to be linked with the national side after consistant performances. Rumors suggest that Corinthians reserves will complain to media sources about their minimum game time, and TimaoTV will be following the issue closely.

Corinthians 2x1 Fluminense

Avai 3x2 Botafogo

Barueri Gremio 1x3 Coritiba

Palmeiras 4x3 Nautico

Sao Paulo 1x1 Flamengo

Atletica Paranaense 0x4 Internacional

Cruzeiro 2x0 Atletico

Vitoria 1x5 Santos

Sport Recife 0x0 Goias

Keirrison has secured a place in the national side after strong performances.

►OUR TURN COACH?

Corinthians reserves have their place in the team in question, believing they do not receive enough game time. Rotation of a squad is essential to substitute morale, and resting your key players, if Menezes cannot do this, the reserves will aim for greener pastures.

Thirty one year old defender, Jean Narde believes “As is said so much, Corinthians is not a club, it is a way of life, we play football because we love it, but if we are not playing football, what do we have to do for this club? Mano Menzes agrees that the rotation’s have been slim to none, but assures fans and reserves that he will be resting key players over the next few weeks to see how the team gels as a whole, “It was important for me to see how my planned starting 11 played in the first three matches, but players start to get tired, and have to be rotated, expect to see some of our youth having a game against Mineiro in order to rest our players for the big derby against Palmeiras the following week.”

Marcelo will be one of those youths, taking Ronaldo’s place in the fixture. Menezes believes “It is the less important fixtures in which you rest your players, and since we have played nothing but quality teams, we have been unable to follow through will squad rotation.”

The club as a whole has also put out the image that they are still a club without their key players, Ronaldo, Elias and Andre Santos are not the club, Corinthians is a club, whilst those players are in a league of their own, Timao is still able to win games without them.
