The home side's defence was caught out 3 times and the Nerazzurri failed to make their chances pay. To be fair, Deportivo didn't deserve to take all the points, as the visitors' winning goal infuriated Inter manager, José Mourinho, as they scored their goal while Inter's Joăo Moutinho lay injured on the pitch. Mourinho made a surprise inclusion to his squad; young Brazilian Kerlon was named among the substitutes. He joined Robert Aquafresca on a bench of young players. Diego Milito was also named on the bench for a second game running, as the Internazionale manager prefers the Suazo-Ibrahimovic partnership up front. Deportivo started quickly, finding the net after a mere 8 minutes. Valeron took a corner kick and Lafita jumped high to nod the ball past Júlio Cesar and into the net. The Stadio Giuseppe Meazza atmosphere crashed to a low as the visitors celebrated their goal. Inter fans could not believe their luck, as the Nerazzurri defence had been unlocked after only 8 minutes. Internazionale were quick to reply, though, as Cristian Chivu would, 2 minutes later, celebrate his first goal for his club. Joăo Moutinho passed to Javier Zanetti, Zanetti took the ball down the right wing and exchanged a pass with Mancini before playing the ball across the box for Chivu who curled a swerving shot past the goalkeeper to level things up again. The goal gave supporters inside the stadium the impression that this match was going to be a cracker! Just 9 minutes after Chivu's goal, Internazionale took the lead thanks to a piece of class by Davide Suazo. Ivan Cordoba won the ball in midfield, and passed forward to Suazo. The Inter striker advanced quickly and shot from 35 yards; the ball hit the back of the net and the crowd went wild. They had seen a special goal scored at a perfect time. Ricardo and Júlio Cesar were both forced into making good saves for their sides in the middle of the first half. Goalscorer, David Suazo, had picked up a knock but the Inter physio's decided that the striker would be able to continue, unless his injury got worse. Deportivo levelled the score on 35 minutes, Guardado scoring a well worked goal. Ze Castro and Valeron combined well before the latter set up Guardado to fire a shot past the Internazionale goalkeeper. Inter players and fans could not believe their luck, as Deportivo celebrated their goal that put the match at 2-2. Zlatan Ibrahimovic created a fair opportunity for Joăo Moutinho in the 35 minute, but the Portuguese midfielder, boasting 2 goals in 2 games prior to this match, was unable to put the ball in the net. Inter were forced into making a substitution in the 39th, as David Suazo's injury ment the player was deemed unable to continue. This saw the introduction of young centre-forward, Kerlon, who was making his season debut. Lopez scored the winning goal that would hand Deportivo La Coruna the victory. However, the goal was scored in very controversial circumstances, as Internazionale's Joăo Moutinho was on the ground with an injury. Unsportingly, Deportivo played on and scored the goal. Lopez's strike infuriated Inter manager, José Mourinho, the bench, and the crowd inside the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, as they clearly felt the ball should have been put out of play in order for Moutinho to recieve treatment. Despite their protests, the goal stood and, unfairly, Inter now found themselves behind. In the second half, Mourinho put Diego Milito on and changed the formation to a 4-3-3, with Kerlon, Ibrahimovic and Milito acting as the 3 strikers. A sustained spell of pressure came to nothing, as Júlio Cesar had to make more saves. Inter's self-belief was gone as the final whistle blew, bringing a disappointing match to an end. Internazionale will feel extremely angry with Deportivo for scoring the winner with an extra player, but the Nerazzurri will have to analyse their performance if they are to improve and progress from UEFA Champions League Group F.
