Coverage: Inter TV, Sky Italia

Moutinho Opens Account As Inter Smash Lazio

Internazionale 3-1 Lazio
Dejan Stankovic 4’
Mauro Zarate 27’
Joao Moutinho 32’ (P)
David Suazo 46’

Internazionale
--------------- Milito ---------- Suazo ---------------
----- Mancini ----- Stankovic ----- Moutinho ----- Zanetti -----
----- Chivu ----- Materazzi ----- Cordoba ----- Maicon -----
-------------------- Julio Cesar ---------------

Lazio
---------- Pandev ----- Rocchi ----------
--------------- Zarate ---------------
----- Dabo ----- Ledesma ----- Brocchi -----
----- Kolarov ----- Radu ----- Rozehnal ----- De Silvestri -----
------------------------- Carrizo --------------------

These 2 teams today will be fighting for their lives to win the match. Internazionale’s manager makes 3 changes to the side that triumphed in the Supercoppa Italiana. Marco Materazzi comes into the defence in place of Walter Samuel. Cristian Chivu replaces Maxwell at left back, while Diego Milito, Inter’s new signing, will start up front today.

Internazionale got off to a cracker of a start, with Dejan Stankovic scoring after only 4 minutes. Iván Cordoba set Zanetti off down the wing, he was showing some exceptional pace to beat Kolarov, Zanetti would then whip the ball into Stankovic who slid the ball into the back of the net. The strike ment Inter were off to a flyer, while Lazio now had it all to do.

Once again, Julio Cesar was displaying some fine form in the Internazionale net. Kolarov swung in a free kick, Ledesma was in position and would volley the ball from 12 yards, but Julio Cesar made a magnificent diving save to stop the ball going past him, only for Mauro Zarate to get into the box to tap home the rebound. It was harsh on Inter, who were playing well, but Lazio’s attack was well worked and they deserved their goal.

In the 32nd minute, Lazio’s Kolarov found himself giving away a silly penalty. Stankovic lofted a beautiful cross for Zanetti, who had earlier assisted Stankovic, he ran into the corner of the Lazio box where he would be taken down by the Lazio defender and the referee was eager to award a spot kick. Joao Moutinho smashed the ball down into the corner to put Internazionale 2-1 up. The goal also marked the player scoring his first goal for his new club.

Towards the end of the first 45 minutes, Internazionale began to dominate the game. Winger Mancini would come close in the 40th, as he saw the Lazio goalkeeper off his line and attempted a 35 yarder, which went well off target to the disappointment of the Inter faithful. Next, Javier Zanetti had a shot cleared off the line after the goalkeeper was well beaten. Ledesma was there to clear the ball.

David Suazo doubled Internazionale’s lead just after the break, when, in the 46th minute, he was set through on goal thanks to a defence-splitting pass from Joao Moutinho. Suazo used his pace to outsprint the defenders and hammered the ball into the top corner.to seal his second goal in as many games this season. It was the best goal of the afternoon, and one that ensured there was no way back for the visiting team.

Mauri had a chance to lower the deposit for Lazio later in the second half, but he wasted a good opportunity by hitting his shot over the bar. Zarate was performing admirably for his team. The forward dribbled past 5 Internazionale players before releasing a shot, only for Zarate’s effort to be saved easily by Julio Cesar.

In the 70th minute Dejan Stankovic came close to doubling his goals tally, when, after good work by Mancini, he clipped a shot just past the post. Julio Cesar was to thank again for keeping Nerazzurri in the match, as he made a great save from Mauri, before Brocchi pulled a shot just wide. Later, Zanetti passed to Suazo who held the ball up before leaving it for Zanetti who cracked a shot which was put over the bar.

Julio Cesar made one final save to ensure Internazionale’s victory. The Brazilian goalkeeper had performed brilliantly again, showing why he is holding the jersey. Nerazzurri top the table after the first round of Serie A matches thanks to this 3-1 wins over Lazio.

Moutinho getting the goal though is good, he should have a successful season for you, he was a better option for you than the real life option in Deco

You should win that... A 3-0 victory is what i'm going for, Ibrahimovic x2 and Suarez to get one... Moutinho to be involved in at least one goal...

Stankovic Scores Again, Moutinho Free Kick Rescues Internazionale!

Internazionale 2-1 Palermo
Dejan Stankovic 31’
Mark Bresciano 59’
Joao Moutinho 84’

Internazionale
--------------- Suazo ---------- Ibrahimovic ---------------
----- Balotelli ----- Stankovic ----- Moutinho ----- Zanetti -----
----- Chivu ----- Materazzi ----- Cordoba ----- Maicon -----
-------------------- Julio Cesar ---------------

Palermo
---------- Budan ----- Miccoli ----------
--------------- Bresciano ---------------
----- Cammariari ----- Tedesco ----- Nocerino -----
----- Balzaretti ----- Bovo ----- Carrozzieri ----- Cassani -----
------------------------- Amelia --------------------

Internazionale manager, José Mourinho, makes 2 changes to the team for tonight’s match against Palermo. Zlatan Ibrahimovic returns to the starting lineup in place of Diego Milito, while Mario Balotelli earns himself a spot on the left wing, replacing Mancini who drops to the bench. There is still no room for Esteban Cambiasso, with Moutinho and Stankovic taking up the central midfield.

A positive start from Inter, as Maicon, Zanetti and Ibrahimovic combined well down the right wing, the latter crossed into the box where Stankovic struck a volley that was touched over the bar by Amelia. Later, Balotelli faked a free kick, instead he passed square to Chivu but the Romanian’s low shot was well saved.

Julio Cesar was in fine form as usual as, after a defensive mix up involving Marco Materazzi, Budan attempted a lob from 7 yards, but the Internazionale goalkeeper used his stunning reflexes to tip the ball over the bar.

Stankovic’s goal that opened the scoring was an absolute corker from 25 yards. Ibrahimovic drifted out onto the right flank and received the ball from Maicon. The Swedish striker would spot Stankovic in space and lofted a pass to him, the Serbian smashed the ball into the top corner from the edge of the area, setting the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza alight with joy as Internazionale celebrated Stankovic’s 2nd goal in 2 games this season.

David Suazo came close for Inter just before the half time break. Internazionale launched a counter attack, Ibrahimovic played in Suazo but the Nerazzurri striker could only place the ball beyond the post. In the 44th minute, Ibrahimovic found himself inside the box with only the goalkeeper to beat but Amelia made a great save to keep his side in the game.

On 60 minutes, Palermo got their equalising goal as Mark Bresciano blasted a sublime shot from 30 yards into the net. From a corner, the ball fell to Bresciano and the Palermo centre-forward controlled the ball before firing into the corner of the goal, just beyond the reach of Julio Cesar. The goal made Mourinho make 2 substitutions, with Cambiasso and Mancini taking to the field.

Within 10 minutes of being introduced, Esteban Cambiasso so nearly fired Internazionale into the lead, as he turned and shot, the ball swerved and crashed back off the woodwork. It was agonisingly close for the home team, who had dominated most of the match and deserved to be in front.

Mancini had 2 good chances later on, but he failed to take advantage of his good positions as he had a shot saved by the ‘keeper, and another effort went wide. Robert Aquafresca would replace David Suazo as Internazionale looked to go for the much needed win.

The winner came 6 minutes from time, and in dramatic fashion. Joao Moutinho had netted an important goal against Lazio last weekend, and the Internazionale midfielder came up trumps when it mattered once again. Mancini was taken down just outside the penalty area, Moutinho lined up the free kick and curled the ball brilliantly into the top corner. The Portuguese ace had shown his quality yet again, as Internazionale were now in the lead. Moutinho was mobbed by his team mates who knew that this would surely be the winner.

Referee Maurizio Ciampi would blow the whistle, as Inter held out for the win. The Stadio Giuseppe Meazza crowd went wild as Internazionale now sit top of the Serie A table with 6 points from 2 games; a perfect position to be in as the Nerazzurri now turn their focus to the UEFA Champions League group stage.
