![]() ------------------------------ ![]() Internazionale have officially completed the signing of 22 year old Portuguese midfielder Joao Moutinho for a fee of £10 million, both clubs Sporting and Inter have confirmed. The transfer was completed last Friday and Moutinho will now join fellow countryman Ricardo Quaresma at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. ''It is wonderful that Joao has decided to join us. We are expecting big things from him and he has proven at Sporting Lisbon that he is a top drawer player and we are fully expecting him to keep up that good form here at Inter.'', a happy José Mourinho told news reporters. He continued by stating that there may not be more arrivals this summer. ''For now I think we are okay because there are lots of great players at this club. There is enough strength in depth to last a season. But, never say never; if a player comes up at the right price then for sure, I will consider him.'' Moutinho has been capped 19 times for the Portugal national side, a good record considering the player is just 21 years of age. The player is known for his excellent midfield qualities and is capable of playing as either a central or as an attacking midfielder. [ Translated ] ''Leaving Sporting was difficult but Inter is the way forward for me! It's an ambitious club and the manager is top class, and Portuguese aswell which made the decision easier for me. I am eager to get playing and I hope to stay here for many seasons to come.'', Moutinho himself told Sky Italia. The former Sporting CP ace has officially taken the number 10 shirt number. Moutinho's transfer to Inter comes as a surprise to some as the player has been heavily liked to clubs such as Everton, a Premier League club. Despite this interest, when Internazionale came calling, Moutinho was keen to wrap up the deal quickly. Meanwhile, young Inter and Italy Under-21 international, Robert Aquafresca, has rejected the oppertunity to join Genoa as part of the deal which saw Diego Milito head to Internazionale. Aquafresca stated his desire to play his football at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, and learn from some of the experienced players in the squad. The striker is widely regarded as one of the finest young Italian goalscorers around so there's no doubt that José Mourinho will be delighted to hear the news. |

Competition: Supercoppa Italiana Location: Stadio Giuseppe Meazza Kick Off: 8:00 PM Match Referee: Renzo Candussio Coverage: Inter TV, Sky Italia ------------------------------ Extra Time Win Secures Supercoppa Italiana! Internazionale 2-1 AS Roma David Suazo 32' David Pizzarro 83' (P) Zlatan Ibrahimovic 116' ![]() Internazionale --------------- Suazo ---------- Ibrahimovic --------------- ----- Mancini ----- Stankovic ----- Moutinho ----- Zanetti ----- ----- Maxwell ----- Samuel ----- Cordoba ----- Maicon ----- -------------------- Julio Cesar --------------- A.S. Roma -------------------- Totti -------------------- ----- Perrotta ----- Julio Baptista ----- ----- Pizarro ----- De Rossi ----- Aquilani ----- ----- Riise ----- Juan ----- Mexes ----- Panucci ----- ------------------------- Doni -------------------- Inter's new £10 million signing Joao Moutinho is in the starting lineup today. The home team will have to be wary of the threat posed by Roma star Francesco Totti. Internazionale are the slight favourites for this Supercoppa Italiana final, but AS Roma are not to be written off. Let's see how the teams faired in an intense match at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. Just 6 minutes in and Roma had already hit the crossbar. Aquilani's piledriver from long range was put over the bar by Julio Cesar. Juan should have scored from the next corner. Pizarro lofted the ball into the box and Juan forced the ball towards the net only for the woodwork to ensure the scores remained at 0-0. It was much pressure from Roma throughout the opening quarter of the match. However, on 32 minutes, the tide turned in Internazionale's favour as David Suazo scored a brilliant goal. Javier Zanetti began to cut inside, he darted past Pizarro and found Maxwell on the wing. The ball then came to Dejan Stankovic who assisted Suazo by slotting a great through ball behind the defence and Inter's striker slotted the ball home under the goalkeeper. Although it was Suazo who got the goal, the finest player on the pitch was Inter's goalkeeper, Julio Cesar. The Brazilian was pulling off a string of magnificent saves to keep his side in the match. FIrst he tipped a 30 yarder from Pizarro around the post, before setting up an attack which ended as Maicon struck the ball from the edge of the penalty area, his shot had lots or swerve on it and it caused Doni problems, with the Roma 'keeper barely holding the ball. Cards were being dished out left, right and centre as the first half saw Ibrahimovic and Totti shown yellow, while the second 45 minutes was full of fireworks, with no less than 5 yellow cards being handed out by the referee. Luckily, no player would be sent off. Roma were once again pressing forward in the second half, with Julio Baptista having numerous attempts flying wide or being saved by the Inter goalkeeper. The visiting team did get their reward near the end of the match. Complacency kicked in and Internazionale became sloppy at the back. Roma were awarded a controversial penalty with 7 minutes of normal time remaining, thanks to Walter Samuel fouling in the box. Pizarro opted to take the spot kick, driving the ball into the corner for the equaliser. Julio Cesar proved towards the end of the match why he is Internazionale's number one goalkeeper. The 29 year old was stopping every shot that came his way. He held his nerve to clutch Taddei's tricky shot, ensuring the match would go to extra time. Tempers flared in the first period of extra time, with Samuel and Stankovic fouling Roma players and recieving yellow cards for their tackles. Julio Cesar was once again Inter's hero as Taddei cut the ball back for Daniele De Rossi who blazed a shot at goal, only for the Inter goalkeeper to punch the ball away. Doni was also on form, as he got down quickly to save Ricardo Quaresma's snap shot. Julio Cesar, though, made the save of the match in the 114th minute, as he found himself one on one with Mirko Vucinic. He made an incredible save to keep his side level, this was a vital point in the match. Zlatan Ibrahimovic went on to grab the winner with just 4 minutes remaining. Internazionale broke fast, Balotelli feeding the ball to Maicon who spotted Ibrahimovic at the far post, he crossed deep and Zlatan Ibrahimovic would rise above Panucci and head the ball past Doni. The Swedish striker celebrated wildly as the Inter players and fans knew that this was the winnning goal. The whistle sounds and every Internazionale fan watches their team celebrate the 2009 Supercoppa Italiana. Although the focus will now turn to the Serie A, Internazionale securing their first trophy this season will be a massive confidence boost. |

Nice signing mate, he's quite realistic I would say. This is very good for a newcomer as I think I said earlier. New members should use this as an example of what can be done.
And you can beat that 'curse' easily I feel
