Champions League Set For Return

After the UEFA Champions League was cancelled last season, UEFA president Michel Platini has confirmed the competition will return for the 2009/10 season. Platini told the media that UEFA had no choice but to cancel last season's Champions League, but that it will definitely return for the new season.

''Everyone at UEFA was disappointed when we recieved news of match fixing so our only choice was to suspend the Champions League for a season. However, I can now confirm that the competition will return for the 2009/10 season. The Champions League will be better than ever and I can't wait to get the competition started again.'', Platini confirmed to Sky.

Last season saw all European Club competitions cancelled due to match fixing allegations, however the Europa League will make its entry this year, while the Champions League will return to normal. This news will delight Inter fans, who had feared that the competition could be suspended for a second season. Every participating club will welcome the extra revenue gained by competing in the UEFA Champions League as it will help clubs pull through these tough economic times.

Platini also told club representatives that the groups will be drawn before the end of August. Internazionale have a guaranteed spot in the group stages as they won the Serie A last season. A date has not officially been set for the draw, but Internazionale will bring you any updates on the situation as they come.

Yeah I'm in the CL but it had to be cancelled because there's no Champions League on the game in the first season

Yeah, but if your not starting from the first season in the MM you don't have to cancel it, just run along with it!
