![]() LIVERPOOL BETTER BEWARE! ![]() David Beckham and Landon Donovan celebrating last season. Merseyside, England - LA Galaxy striker and U.S.A captain Landon Donovan has told Liverpool ahead of the U.S.A tournament to 'beware' and all the MLS teams competing won't make it easy for the Premier League club. The striker who had a brief spell at German giants, Bayern Munich has said this ahead of the tournament and believes it will give Liverpool less confidence heading to U.S.A. Donovan started his career at IMG Socca Academy, alongside some great American players such as Ohuchi Onyewu, DaMarcus Beasley and Bobby Convey. He spent a year there with his compatriots before being discovered and heading to Germany to join Bayer Leverkusen. In this time, the club saw many greats such as Michael Ballack, Ze Roberto and Dimitar Berbatov enter the club. After fighting for a first team spot for two years, he finally had his chance at the club, making his debut against Portsmouth. He only went onto make six more appearances before heading to San Jose Earthquakes on a three year loan. Many thought he would finally stay at the club but decided to move to rivals, Los Angeles Galaxy. In his first season at the club after being recognised, he scored twelve goals and made ten assists. He added four more goals to his account and won LA Galaxy the MLS Cup. Since then, he has made over one hundred appearances and scored fifty-eight goals. He has represented his national team, U.S.A, at U17, U23 level and is currently captain of the squad. He has scored forty-one goals for his country and top scorer in all-time history. He scored his fortieth againsy Italy in the Confederations Cup before losing in the final against Brazil thanks to a late header from Brazil captain, Lúcio. LA Galaxy start the competiation off against Toronto F.C and will be looking to grab all three points as David Beckham returns from his loan spell at A.C Milan. Liverpool kick off the campaign versus Chicago Fire, who are in contention for the tournament win. It will be tough for Liverpool but Gerrard and co. should be able to pull through and grab the tournament win, which will give the whole team a momentum rise as Liverpool go for their first Premier League title. Robert Tripp reporting for Liverpool TV.
