Olympique Lyonnais info :

Founded in 1899, Olympique Lyonnais are a professional French club currently playing in the Ligue 1. The club play their home games at Stade de Gerland and possess top training facillities and an excellent youth setup. The club is commonly known as Les Gones and they have a fierce rivalry with A.S. Saint-Etienne, Paris Saint-Germain and also Olympique de Marseille.

Les Gones enjoyed there greatest spell of success during the last 10 years, they are, without a doubt one of the most successful clubs in France. Boasting a proud total of thirty-three competition win, here are just some of there honours they have enjoyed. Lyon won the French top division (Ligue 1) on seven different occasions and second on two occasions, they have won the French cup in 1964, '67, '73 and also 2008 and have come second on four occasions. Les Gones have won the Coupe de la Ligue just once and the French Ligue 2 twice. However they look to improve on these honours.

Claude Puel's Managerial History :

Before Puel was appointed in his first job in football for Monaco, he was their physical trainer and also manager of Monaco's reserve side. It was January 1999 when he was announced as the first team manager. It just took him one year to win his first trophy, this was the French Championship, with players such as Ludovic Giuly and Marcelo Gallardo. In 2001 Monaco, suprisingly, didn't take the option to re-new his contract, so he moved on to Lille Olympique Sporting Club, where he was there for a total of 6 consecutive seasons.

Controversy against Manchester

Claude Puel courted some major controversy during February 2007 when Lille met Man Utd.
It was in the Champions League competition when, Manchester veteran, Ryan Giggs scored a quickly taken free-kick very late on in the game, Puel was supposedly getting the message to his players to get off the pitch in a protest, alougth they got the game restarted after a short delay. Manchester United legendry boss, Sir Alex Ferguson explained after the match to the ITV crew as "disgracefl" and also "intimidation of the referee".

Olympique Lyonnais

Claude joined his current club on June 18th 2008. He joined on a 4yr deal with the seven time French Champions. He is also Lyon's 4th manager in the last 4 years. However he looks to stay there and improve on their history.
