![]() Chelsea 0 ![]() Manchester City 1 Robinho (pen) 37' "Rob"bed On The Spot Brazilian sensation Robinho converted a penalty after late inclusion Craig Bellamy was brought down by John Terry The game had been anticipated by many as both sides had been in the top 8, however the goal fest didn't eventuate, in fact it was the spot kick put expertly away from the 'Peladala" man which decided the issue. Both teams had great solid defensive games with Alex and Dunne standouts for their respective teams. Robinho's performance was also savoury. Marked tightly by Ivanovic, the Brazilian somehow broke away down the left early and released a low cross. Late inclusion Craig Bellamy's effort forced a great snap save from Petr Cech. With speculation of the keeper going this season, a great save to prove his credentials. From the following corner, it was Robinho who almost popped up at the back post, with the corner just going over his head. Following that, on 15 minutes, Elano was put behind the Chelsea defense, and again Cech came to Chelsea's rescue, coming out quickly and gathering the South American's loose dribble. The rebound almost came to Kompany, who was denied by Alex's tackle. In fact, it was after 4 City shots and 30 minutes that Chelsea finally made Joe Haart work, not that it was much, but Frank Lampard got a shot off in anger, straight into his arms. Just 7 minutes later and City had deservedly scored. Bellamy made a marauding run down the box line, and Terry decided to dive in. But the striker had shielded the ball well, and Mike Dean pointed straight to the spot. Robinho duly stepped up, and fooled Cech into diving to his left. The pen was straight down the middle. Half-time: Chelsea 0 Manchester City 1 If fans thought the entertaining first half was to be an indication of what was to come in the second, they were in for a huge disappointment. In fact, the major talking point was substitute Gareth Barry's inexplicable lunge from behind on Lampard. An infuriated Chelsea went straight to Dean for an opinion, and somehow the referee gave only a yellow. Barry did get the final shot in a very dull second half, with Cech forced to parry (or should I say Barry) wide. Full-time: Chelsea 0 Manchester City 1 MOTM Richard Dunne: The reason for the dull second half was a result of a great defensive performance. Cut out balls, pressured but never fouled. An almost fautless performance. That has now been cut to 2, with Roque Santa Cruz and Jason Roberts grabbing the two goals. koop, Sky Sports |

![]() Premier League: Matchday 8 ![]() Chelsea ![]() Fulham Infrequent Form Has Seen Chelsea Drop Back To 6th The evenness of this season's competition has ensured that even Chelsea, with 2 losses and 2 draws already, are still in 6th place. With Fulham sitting 6 points back in 12th, the Blues will be favourites to win despite a loss to Manchester City and a shock draw with Southampton in the past two rounds. But derbies, especially local ones, are always fiercely contested and this one should be no different. Fulham, with the small and pacy Andy Johnson up front, who could cause real problems with the Blues' strong but slow defense of Terry and Carvalho, who comes in for the rested Alex. "The key to this is winning the midfield battle. It's always a big factor in games and we will also have to dominate the midfield against Barcelona to win the game," said Carlo Ancelotti. It has also surprised many that the Italian is not being carefully scrutinised for this slow start. However, inside reports suggest that owner Roman Abramovich is happy with the manager and believes trophies could well be won this season.
