The football club was founded in 1900, on the 9th of January, by nine members, making the club the oldest in Rome. They got their name from the region it was founded (Lazio) and they chose sky blue and white as colours to represent Greece, who also had a variety of sports in the Olympics, which they founded. The club have won European titles and domestic titles and have only been in the lower leagues for a combined total of three seasons since they joined in 1912, as one of the original members. Famous players include current and past strikers Tomasso Rocchi and Silvio Piola, Giuseppe Wilson, Alessandro Nesta, Pavel Nedved, Hernan Crespo and Paolo Di Canio, as well as Dejan Stankovic and Christian Vieri. That meant success, and it came in particularly in the 1990s. However, in the early 2000s the club was soon bankrupt from financial trouble, and forced to sell their star players, and the club started to plummet. However, the club started a revival in the 2005-2006 season when Delio Rossi took over, qualifing for the Uefa Cup. But, the Italian match-fixing scandal meant hefty points deductions and no European competition. Now, in the 2008/2009 season, can Delio Rossi lead his players to success? ABOUT THIS THREAD
After my first MM thread with Chelsea didn't gather too many readers, I have decided to start anew with Lazio. This MM will be better organised, structured and will contain more stuff! ![]() Big thanks must also go to Ahmer50, or Ahmer, for graphics, and also to you readers who will hopefully make this thread a success! Rules Advertising: No advertising please (as Camo will tell you), as I read a lot of other MM threads anyway while I'm working on this one. Spam: No spam either. Critism: Please keep your critism constructive and not ballistic. Thanks! ![]() Last edited by CFC | Koop; 20-04-2009 at 08:12 AM.. |

![]() Interview with Delio Rossi on upcoming season Lega Calcio caught up with Lazio coach Delio Rossi ahead of the Serie A season opener. LC: Hello Delio, lets get straight into things. How are you and your team feeling ahead of tonight's season opener? DR: I'm feeling great, and so is the team, we're really pumped to get into a new season, and we feel really confident. LC: Even after finishing 12th last year? DR: Yes, the match-fixing scandal was mainly the cause of all that, but now we have a fresh new start. LC: There have been rumours that you might be after players like Antonio Flores Flores from Udinese and Ricardo Montilivo from Fiorentina, as well as centre-back Ryan Shawcross from Stoke. What can you say about this rumours? DR: Nothing's been confirmed yet, I can't say much more, sorry. LC: What formation are you likely to play with tonight? DR: I will likely play a 4-3-3 formation with Tommaso Rocchi up front and as captain. We've got a fast team, and we want to use that to our avantage. LC: Delio Rossi, thanks for taking some of your time out to talk to Lega Calcio. DR: Thank You. |
