You'll all have to wait until after the Tottenham game next weekend to find out the result of the protracted negotiations with the two Barcelona players. Hopefully it'll be around primetime GMT... if I can wake up that early.

Spurs at Anfield
Finally, a Kop End goal. Well, actually, three. Could have been four or five though. We thoroughly handled Spurs and got our third clean sheet in a row; 3-0. The game looked like it was there for the taking from the get-go. Xabi Alonso managed to weave his way through the porous Tottenham defence and found himself 12 yards out with relatively little pressure, but his left-footed shot rattled the bar. It took 15 minutes to find the first goal. Tottenham were on the attack and Agger managed to clear to Albert Riera who was streaking down the left flank. Steven Gerrard was just riding the offside trap 30 yards out when Riera hit a long ball across the ground the Gerrard was able to put in first time. ![]() It was Gerrard's turn to return the favour fifteen minutes later at a corner. Gerrard dropped the ball in around the penalty spot and Riera rose highest to meet it, hitting it into the ground and celebrating as it bulged the back of the net. ![]() Gerrard again turned provider just before the interval as he was released down the right flank thanks to a great pass from Alonso. The Englishman cut in to the penalty area and feigned shot, allowing Fernando Torres acres of space in the middle of the area. All he had to do was pick a spot and Cudicini had not a chance. ![]() The two young Argentinians on the bench made an appearance at the hour mark with Diego Buonanotte replacing Kuyt after the Dutchman failed to make it an easy four from a brilliant Riera crossfield pass. And Emiliano Insúa coming on for Fabio Aurélio. Liverpool: Reina, Arbeloa, Carragher, Aurélio (Insúa), Kuyt (Buonanotte), Alonso, Mascherano (Lucas), Riera, Gerrard, Torres Subs not used: Skrtel, Benayoun, Babel, N'gog Goals: Gerrard, Riera, Torres Tottenham: Cudicini, Corluka, Dawson (King), Woodgate, Assou-Ekotto (Chimbonda), Palacios, Modric, Jenas (Lennon), Keane, Pavlyuchenko, Bentley Subs not used: Gomes, Huddlestone, Defoe, Bent Bookings: Palacios, Corluka

Great News from the Premier League!
Liverpool tried to push through the transfer of Barcelona player Sergio Busquets right at the midnight deadline last Monday but failed to get in all the necessary filings so there was uncertainty over whether it would be accepted in it's submitted form. The transfer was initially rendered invalid but after review of the paperwork and in light of the verbal agreement made with Barcelona previous to the late filing a Premier League spokesman has come out with a statement saying that the transfer would be accepted due to extenuating circumstances, though those were not disclosed. What a steal!! And just in time for Tuesday's Carling cup game against Peterbrough! Rafa Benítez said that he would allow reserve coach Gary Albett to determine the squad in the early rounds of both cup competitions. It should be great to see him lining up with some of the other new boys, having a Spanish international in the reserves is no mean feat.

lol, that's fine, I'm not using him for my first XI, so he'll have some time to build up in the reserves. I guess I'll see just how ****e he is against Peterbrough, though that might be a bit of a false dawn considering how ****e they are.

Thanks for the support guys, I wasn't sure if this was going to work either, but I'm glad that it's found a place. Please feel free to tell me anything that you think could improve it (i.e. pictures in the match reports); I'm always open to suggestions.
Match coming up against Peterbrough, all my reserves. Should be a chance to vicariously put on over on Sir Alex Ferguson. Hopefully we can embarrass little Darren Ferguson.

Little Darren Ferguson
Peterborough 0-3 Liverpool [**First off, let me say kudos to the Peterborough ground staff who managed to knock my camera to the concrete during their pat-down. Needless to say, it's going in for repairs, but it meant that I have no photos for this game. I'll just use some stock photos so you can get familiar with the new players.**] What a bright future this club has. I knew there were some stars coming through, but I wasn't expecting this. Youth academy product and local lad Stephen Darby was given the captaincy for this game. Got to be the high point of his career so far. And he was one limb of the eleven-legged monster that showed up at London Road Stadium and tore up the pitch. Because it's essentially a new team, I'll give you a proper line-up so you can get a sense of how it worked. Andrés Fernández
Darby (C) --- Nordtveit --- Fazio --- Insúa Sergio Busquets (Spearing - 72') Anderson --- -- --- Kenia --- -- --- Leto (Dalla Valle - 75') --- --- --- --- --- (Forestieri - 85') Pacheco -- Németh Liverpool kept the ball very well early in the game, the passing of Sergi Busquets, Levan Kenia and Dani Pacheco was sublime. But it toolalalalail 20 minutes in to unlock the Posh defence. Sebastián Leto was attempting to get to the touchline to cross into the box, but was held up and had to give the ball to Krisztián Németh at the edge of the area. The young Hungarian prodigy was a channel open up and found Levan Kenia streaking into the box. The Georgian newcomer cheekily hit it first time with the outside of his left boot, sending 'keeper Joe Lewis the wrong way and marking a great start to a hopefully long and prosperous Liverpool career. http://de.fifa.com/mm/photo/worldfootball/contlcomp/trpar1849828_42137_sq_medium.jpgLevan Kenia playing for the Georgian national side against Rep. Ireland Liverpool continued to boss the game and got a second on the half hour mark. Leto again attempted to cut wide but was blocked off so instead drove to the near post. The Argentine winger was forced further outside than he had intended and so sent a lovely square ball across the 6-yard box to Dani Pacheco who slotted into an empty net.http://www.liverpoolbanter.co.uk/danielpacheco.jpgDani Pacheco during a reserve game last season Meanwhile, Ferguson's men were racking up yellow cards and they would end up with six between them to Liverpool's one. But the attempts to kick the gifted young players off the pitch didn't work and Liverpool came back with a familiar combo to extend the lead even more.Leto again picked up the ball in midfield and got to the corner flag before doing a little 1-2 passing with Krisztián Németh that allowed him free roam of the area. He could have taken the shot on himself, but instead laid the ball off to a wide open Dani Pacheco who was able to double his tally on his senior team debut. http://www.4thegame.com/media/00/04/18/sebastian_leto.jpgLeto, who was out on loan due to work permit problems made his triumphant return All in all it was a huge success for the youngsters, and I wouldn't be surprised if I saw them all playing in the final in January.

Sure did, kids played really well together.
Next game is against Stoke. Does anyone think I should give Pacheco the start or a place on the bench after his 2-goal performance? Or any of the cup kids?

Thanks, mate. I didn't think he would have to bulk up (+strength) before he could make an impact, but Peterborough were kicking him off the park and he still scored two goals. The Stoke players make Peterborough look like a pack of kittens, but I still may stick him on the bench and see if he can get a late goal.

![]() Pretty similar to this although more of a first person style one like my own. In my opinion it takes a skilled writer to put together one of these as the emphasis is on the writing rather than graphics/tables and stats etc.
