The End of an Era, The Beginning of Another

At a press conference in Manchester, David Gill along with Sir Alex Ferguson announced the retirement of the Manchester United legend and the appointment of his successor.

"This is both a proud and a sad day for me, but its the right time" said Sir Alex. Before his departure, Ferguson assisted the club in appointing the new manager of the famous club.

Stuart Mackie, the new manager of Manchester United is virtually unknown to the world of football. A Canadian and Scottish citizen, Mackie has found coaching and playing success at many levels of football in North America. Mackie, the former coach of the Canadian National Mens National team, lead the his country to the Gold Cup Final where they dominated the United States 3-0.

Mackie is set to take over with immediate effect and will bring a "young and exciting new attitude to the club" Sir Alex said.

"This is a dream come true for me, I've supported this club since I was a young boy, I love this club more than life itself." Mackie said jokingly, well at least I think.

This exciting day for United fans will be watched closely as his every move will scutinized by the press, players, and most importantly, the fans.

It looks like an exciting start to another Premiership campaign.

Getting to Know Manager Mackie

July 28th, 2008

Last night I met with new Manchester United manager to discuss football, life, and Irn Bru.

"I love this club, and I will guarantee success" said Mackie when I asked if he can follow in the footsteps of Sir Alex. Mackie seems extremely excited to begin training with the players on Monday. Mackie had a promising professional football career in the North American MLS before having his career cut short by injury. Mackie tore his achilles tendon in an international match against Spain.

The 34 year old became Manchester United's youngest ever manager 3 days ago. As he drank an Irn Bru, a drink he imported while in Canada, we discussed transfers targets.

Mackie was looking at bringing in a few younger players from Europe as well as South America. As for bigger targets, Mackie confirmed that reports out of Spain claiming that Manchester United were in talks with Athletico Madrid for star striker Sergio Aguero was purely speculation. Mackie did however confirm that he was interested in finding a replacement for Van Der Sar as the aging keeper is considering retirement at the end of the year.

With one month left in the transfer market, Mackie hopes to pick up a few players and only time will tell as to what names, weather big or small will be heading to Old Trafford by the end of the summer.

Messi to Manchester!

Lionel Messi has joined Manchester United after the two clubs reached an agreement over the player last night.

The Sun claimed this deal would go through and right they were as Mess moves on a 5 year contract worth over 120 Million Pounds.

The transfer fee is expected to be in the 50 to 60 Million Pound range.

Stuart Mackie said in an interview today that he is "delighted, simply delighted with the acquisition of Messi, he is an incredible talent and im honestly relishing to see him in action with Ronaldo, I would hate to be Liverpool right now"

This deal was quite a shock to everyone, even the people involved. David Gill told us that he was "amazed that negotiations went so well between the two clubs."

Messi will make his debut on Sunday against Liverpool.

Capitano Rio

With Gary Neville out with an injury that will keep him sidelined for 3 Months, Stuart Mackie has temporarily handed the armband to Rio Ferdinand.

It is suspected that Rio will take over as captain when Neville retires.

Reds Fall to Reds

Manchester United played well in a 1-0 loss to Liverpool Sunday. Berbatov failed to convert two sitters as Xabi Alonso's goal was the difference between the two sides.

Messi made his debut and played well when he had the ball but did not make himself seen as much as he should have.

Its not that unrealistic. I mean, it took a few bids, and im paying alot more than i wanted to. Bids went from 40 to 65 million, and i am paying him 110,000 a week with a 15% goal bonus.
