BRIEF HISTORY

Liverpool was founded in 1892 after a dispute between Everton and John Haulding the leaseholder of Anfield. The dispute was over rent.Everton who had been playing at Anfield for seven years refused to the demands of the rent moved to a new stadium in Goodison Park. Liverpool FC was founded on the 15th March 1892 as Everton F.C and and Athletic Grounds, LTD. Everton Athletic was was used for short, but the FA refused to recognise the name Everton. The Club won the Lanchashire League in the first season. Then succsesfully joined the Second league after an applying. They won the league and were promoted to the First Division. They won their first title in 1900–01, and were champions again in 1905–06. They reached their first FA Cup final in 1914 but lost 1–0 to Burnley. The club won back-to-back championships in 1921–22 and 1922–23, but after this the club did not win another trophy until 1946–47 when they won the League for a fifth time. The club reached the FA Cup final in 1950, but lost to Arsenal. Liverpool struggled afterwards, and the club was relegated to the Second Division in the 1953–54 season. Liverpool tradiontally used Red and White kits but they changed the kit to all red in the mid-60s. They first used colours and a kit similar to Evertons when first founded. In 1901 the liverbird was used as the club's badge.

THE STADUIM

Liverpool have played at Anfield since they were founded in 1892. Anfield was built in 1884 on land in Stanley Park and used by Everton FC. But they left in 1892 after a dispute with the owner over rent, who then founded the club. The capacity at the ground was 20,000 but only 100 spectators Liverpool's first match. In 1906 the banked staduim was renamed the Kop. At its largest the stand could only hold 28,000 spectators and was one of the largest single stands in the world. Many staduims stands are named after the Spoin Kop. But it is the largest single stand in England and can hold more spectators than some entire staduims. The stand capacity was reduced after safety measures were brought in. It was rebuilt into an all-seater stand in 1994 and remains and single tier stand. It is also the newest stand in the ground. In 2004 the Liverpool Council granted Liverpool with permission to built a all new 60,000 seater staduim in Stanley park.In 2008 the club started the contruction of the staduim with completion in 2011 since then the construction has stopped.
