Youngsters Strike For the Blues

Luis Felipe Scolari choose to go with a whole new starting 11 against Ajax compared to the win versus PSV Eindhoven. The formation:

--Hilario--
--A.Cole--Alex--Ivanovic--Ferriera
--Mikel--
Kalou-----Lampard
--Malouda----Anelka----Sinclair--

Formationa details- Kalou and Lampard attacking midfielders, Malouda/Sinclair fairly high up wingers and one striker Nicolas Anelka.

The match was exciting and again the Blues put on an exciting match. Chelsea started off with the first goal just about 2 minutes after the half hour mark. The play happened like this.

If you drew a straight line from the sideline to the top of the 18 yard box that is where Salomon Kalou had a throw in for Chelsea. He chose an open Florent Malouda who was in the middle of three players that had checked to the ball. Malouda took a short dribble diangle away from goal and soon passed the ball to John Obi Mikel who took 2 touches then wacked a knuckle ball with no spin over the goal-keeper's diving hand and body. It was a beautifal goal to watch from 30 yards out into the upper 90 of the goal on the left side when your facing it with Mikel's right foot.

The next goal didn't come til 20 minutes after the 32nd minute rocket. In the 52nd minute a very indifferent Nicolas Anelka corner kick cross, very low to the ground the keeper dived into the goal and Saloman Kalou takes the credit from 3 yards out tapping it in. Putting the Blues in prime position to take their second win in the four game freindly tournament.

After the goal Scolari chose to bring on another youngster taking Frank Lampard off for Miroslav Stoch a promising young talent just signed out of Chelsea's reserves/academy.

Five minutes later another substitution by Big Phil this time another youngster 20 year old Fabio Paim who came on loan to the Blues from Sporting Lisbon.

The game ended with another good result by Chelsea. Also Scolari proved himself that he could fix the discipline problem of his players receiving only 2 fouls this match after getting a total of 5 cards last match.
