Preview of Matchday #4 of the Premier League Newcastle United vs Chelsea Preview: On the 2nd to last day of the transfer window Newcastle host Chelsea at St. James’ Park. For weeks rumors have swirled around the league of Chelsea chasing a third striker to backup the possible combination of Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba if things do work out when Anelka returns from his suspension. The latest reports state that Scolari has given Alexandre Pato, Jozy Altidore, and Odion Ighalo offers to join the Blues yet the most likely outcome is only 1 is signed. Although it is still possible Scolari signs an older, more experienced player like Ivan Klasnic. Chelsea FC Record 2-1-0 (W-D-L) League Table Position: 2nd w/ 7 Points Last Match- Chelsea 4-1 A. Villa News: Chelsea are still without Nicolas Anelka as he serves the 2nd match of a 3 match ban. After failing to impress last match Jesus Navas is placed on the bench by Scolari. --Cech-- --A. Cole--Alex--Terry--Bosingwa— --Essien— ----Lampard Deco----------------J. Cole --Drogba—Kalou-- Bench- di Santo (ST), Malouda, Sinclair (LWM), Obi Mikel (CM), Ballack (CAM), Navas (RWM), Cudicini (GK) Newcastle United Record 0-2-0 (W-D-L)League Table Position: 13th w/ 2 Points Last Match- Wigan 0-0 Newcastle News: Newcastle are struggling to score a goal let alone win a match with 0-0 draws against Wigan and Sunderland. Owen is again deployed out on the left side with Martins leading the striking force. --Given-- --Enrique--Coloccini--Taylor--Beye-- Duff--Guthrie--Barton --Owen-------------------------Jonas-- -Martins-- Players to Watch For Didier Drogba: Drogba is once again a player the defenders of Newcastle United should prepare for. He is on form for Chelsea already with 6 goals this season which is double the number of gosl scored by second place Dirk Kuyt and Adebayor. Deco: Deco gets the start over Jesus Navas with Scolari saying Navas did not play to the expectations he had for him against Aston Villa. Deco should do well on the left wing by sending in crosses and creating chances for other players. Michael Owen: Owen is placed out on the wing by Kevin Keegan a position is he unused to. With Newcastle starting off their campaign with two 0-0 draws Owen will look to earn himself a goal against Chelsea. Obafemi Martins: Martins starts at the central striker position with Jonas and Owen on his flank. Martins has failed to score this season under Keegan with rumors persisting he could leave the Magpies. ![]() -------------------- Predictions for the Match For this match you can predict the following categories.Predict a Win, Draw, Loss= 2 Points Predict a Goalscorer = 3 Points Per Correct Player Predict an Exact Score= 8 Points Predict a Cleansheet (or no cleansheet) = 2 Points Predict a Correct Score For 1 Team: 3 Points Per Correct Team Predict a MOTM= 4 Points Predict a Goal Shall Come in 15 Minute Period= 3 Points [To make things easier you can just copy/paste the above text and erase the points part, inserting the players/scores/etc. that you predict] KindaCloudy

![]() Deco Free Kick Magic! With a late change to the lineup Blues boss Luis Felipe Scolari changed to a 4-5-1 opting to have Deco and Lampard attacking mids, Drogba up top and Joery Cole + Jesus Navas manning the wings. Just minutes in Deco was charging at the Newcastle goal. He was bumped and earned a free kick. Deco opted to take the free kick. The shot hit the crossbar and bounced in front of an open net with Given on the ground off to the side! Drogba ran in and slid the ball into the back of the net! In just 3 minutes Chelsea were on top! Now at the 22nd minute Jesus Navas earned a spot in the book from the referee. 10 minutes later Chelsea were building an attack. Suddenly Didier Drogba was tackled feriouscly by Coloccini and the referee called play on. Ashley Cole had won the ball and soon earned a corner bouncing the ball off Shay Given. Coloccini was then booked by the referee for the tackle on Drogba. The corner was cleared! Bosingwa took control of the ball on the rgiht side right at the halfway line. Bosingwa hit a deep lob to Drogba at the top of the 18. Drogba ripped a bullet and the ball hit the crossbar and out of bounds! What a rip! Now into the second half. Just after the hour mark Jesus Navas was sent off for a tackle on Barton! This could be game changing! Just a couple of minutes afterwards Deco was taken off for Gael Kakuta, Kakuta with instructions to move to the wing opened up by Navas being sent off. Chelsea had a few plays following but still could not break past Given again. In the 75th minute Florent Malouda was brought on for Joe Cole. For the last 15 minutes Chelsea moved the ball around patiently trying to break past the Newcastle defense yet still failing to. ![]() Match Facts CHELSEA-NEWCASTLE 1- Goals- 0 1-Assists-0 12- Shots- 1 6 -On Target- 0 4-Fouls- 2 3-Bookings-1 5 -Corners- 0 69%- Possession- 31% Goal
3' Didier Drogba Assist 3' Deco Man of the Match John Terry Scolari Comemnts: Terry did terrifically today for us! Just look at the stats all Newcastle had was 1 shot. I am very proud of how Terry was the main part of shutting Newcastle down completely, stopping any build ups they had and even getting up in the attack at times. ![]() |
