One In, One Out: Tottenhams Managerial Shake Up

(Thumbs down: Juande Ramos sacked in shame)

Tottenham Hotspur have today sacked Juande Ramos, after it became apparent that he had held a meeting with Real Madrid officials behind the clubs back. The F.A. are considering asking FIFA to sanction Madrid for there actions, and if they decide to take that route Real could face massive fines.

Speculation was rife throughout the week as rumors of Juande's secret meeting came to light in news papers around the country. In a press conference, his last in charge, Ramos claimed that news agents had created the story in an attempt to unsettle the club, however Tottenham's board did not see it the same way, and decided to sack Ramos earlier this morning.

Ramos was due to attend a Young Spurs Club event in Hammersmith alongside players today, but the event has been canceled and Ramos is believed to be on a plane to Madrid, possibly to seek out employment with Real Madrid.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has since spoke to the press, claiming that the actions of Juande Ramos had made it impossible for the Spaniard to continue as manager.

(Unhappy chairman: Daniel Levy was disgusted by Juande Ramos' actions)

"The simple fact of the matter is that he was employed by our club, and he held a meeting with officials from another club. We have strong evidence of this, we are in no doubt that the event has happened and it has forced us into a difficult position at the start of the new campaign.

"We have had no choice but to sack him, his actions were underhanded and dirty, and we cannot have that type of manager in our club, the type of manager willing to hold secret meetings without permission, obviously seeking employment elsewhere.

"He is leaving the club in shame, we thought he would shine for us after the Carling Cup win, but a number of problems prior to this incident have made us re assess our position, and now this incident has pushed us over the edge.

"We are already in talks with a new manager, and hope to have the contract settled before tomorrow morning.
".

A mere twenty five minutes after the departure of Ramos was announced, Tottenham confirmed the signing of 62 year old Russia manager Gus Hiddink, to replace Juande Ramos.

(New man at the helm: Gus Hiddink has a high reputation after success with South Korea and Australia at world cups, and recently with Russia at the European championships)

Hiddink is expected to conduct his first interview as manager within the hour, and Tottenham fans will be eager to hear his plans for the club.

After a successful footballing career, Hiddink settled into management well, with spells at his former club PSV, Valencia, Real Madrid, and more recently with the national teams of South Korea, Australia and Russia.

Tottenham released a statement on there official website earlier in the day, saying that both party's we're committed to a long term partnership.

"Gus has signed on a three year contract, with the option of an extension when the contract comes to an end.

"Whilst we are aware that Tottenham will most likely be his last job in club management, we are confident that he can deliver over the term of his contract.

"Gus has a big reputation and will have the full support of the board, financially and otherwise, to get the club to a top level.
".

Gus Hiddink is expected to speak later on today to SpursTV, and Tottenham fans will be eagerly awaiting his words.

SPURSTV PRESS CONFERENCE!

Daniel Levy: I would like to thank you all for coming to this Press Conference, to officially unveil Tottenham Hotspurs new manger, Guus Hinddink I'm sure he will be happy to answer any questions you have.

Guus Hinddink: *Nods head*

Reporter One: Guus, do you think you have the type of squad that can break the top 4?

Guus Hinddink: Well I havn't meet with the squad at all, but I've seen them in action, and Ramos when he was here built a quality side and I'm sure they can break the top 4, and I reckon if I sign the players I want, I will promise we break the top 4.

Reporter Two: Guus you promise a top 4 finish if you sign these players can you tell us here who you plan to sign?

Guus Hinddink: I don't like to give away who I plan to sign, but I can asure you I want to sign 2 Russian players and a Australian.

Reporter One: Do you have any Long term goals?

Guus Hinddink: Well dosn't every manger, but all I want to do with the club is make them one of the top clubs in the world, sign some quality youngsters, and maybe even experienced players.

Reporter Three: Guus why did you give up your job coaching National teams to finish your managing career at a club?

Guus Hinddink: Good question, ah well I don't really know why I gave it up, managing a club at National level and Club level is the same to me, the only difference is there's alot more games and you can sign players from different countries at Club level.

Reporter Five: Will you do anything different then have?

Guus Hinddink: Plan and simple, No, I believe I've done a great job with my style, I got Austrlia to the World Cup for there second time in there history, we could have won it if the refs could pick up on diving and I made Russia one of the Top 4 teams in Europe by getting them to the semis at Euro 2008.

Reporter 4: What Australian elements do you hope to bring to Tottenham, from your time with the Socceroos.

Guus Hinddink: No, not really, yeah I'll try and bring in some players, but nothing else.

Reporter One: What about Russia

Guus Hinddink: Same answer.

Reporter Six: Do you think the Board are expecting alot from you this season?

Guus Hinddink: Not really, all they want it European football next season. But if I do a great job this season they will start expecting alot from me over the seasons.

Reporter Two: Was it fun managing the Socceroos and Russia?

Guus Hinddink: Yeah it was, with the Socceroos, well it was emotional when we qualified for the World Cup, and it was just fun in Germany with them, with Russia we just wanted to do good at Euro's and put our name on the map of football, but we always found time for a joke or some fun.

Reporter 4: Guus we know you have just arrived but how are you adjusting to live in ENgland.

Guus Hinddink: Yeah so far I've adjusted well, and I will just keep adjusting till it was like I was born in ENgland.

Daniel Levy: I think that's enough, I would like to thank you for coming, I believe Guus would also thank you for coming.
Bump for anyone that missed it.
