The European Adventure

History

Arsenal are one of the best sides in English Football and have proven this with the amount of trophies they have won. It all started in 1886, when the club was founded, and since then, things have only got better. There trophy cabinet was bare until 1930 when they lifted the FA Cup for the first time. Arsenal have always had a rough rivalry with Tottenham Hotspur, but now Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool are also thought of a derbies. Arsenal hasn’t always been called Arsenal, some of the names they previously had are Dial Square, Royal Arsenal and Woolwich Arsenal.
When Arsenal were taken over by Henry Norris, they moved to Highbury, which was one of the best grounds at that time and still was in 2005. It was when they appointed Herbert Chapman when they got famous as he won them 2 Division 1 titles and the FA Cup in his 9 year spell. Many managers have taken over and won titles, but George Graham was one of the Notable ones, The ex-Arsenal Midfielder took Arsenal all the way to the UEFA Cup Winners Cup Final, where they beat Parma 1 - 0. The current manager, Arsene Wenger has also achieved a lot, and has won 3 Premier League and 4 FA Cup Titles. Wenger has been manager for over 12 year now. In 2006, Arsenal moved to their new home, The Emirates Stadium, this stadium is the 2nd largest in England and holds approximately 60,000 people

Squad Members
Goalkeepers

The Arsenal No. 1 is a fantastic keeper and is looking to break into the Spanish Team. He was the sub keeper to Jens Lehmann until he was sold, but he emerged to be a superb player and is now the Arsenal Vice Captain.

Luka Fabianski was brought in as back-up for Almunia and has developed massivly since then. He doesn't make many starts for Arsenal, but when he does he is truely outstanding. He will play a major part in Arsenal's Carling Cup campaign

Vito Mannone has come through the Arsenal Academy like most of the players, and has shown he is a capable keeper in Arsenal's Youth Team. Mannone is keen to play some part in the Carling Cup this season.

Defenders

Sagna was signed for 6 million as competition for Emmanuel Eboue, but Eboue turned into a midfielder, since then, Sagna has arguably become the best right-back in the Premier League. The speedy defender will be tough to get past this season.

Hoyte is a fantastic right-back who always tries his hardest and looks up to his older brother Justin. However Hoyte moved to Middlesbrough in mid-season, so now Hoyte will look up to Sagna, The young defender will play a key role in the defence in the Carling Cup.

Mikael Silvestre is the first person to sign from Manchester United since Viv Anderson in 1987. The French defender is one of the senior members of the squad and will play and key role in defence as back-up Left back and centre back.

Kolo Toure has only played for Arsenal in his career and what a superb career it has been. Toure was a key defender is Arsenal's unbeaten season and will be looking to help his side to more titles in the upcoming season

William Gallas, the Arsenal Captain, signed from Chelsea, and since then, has taken charge and turned his career around. He scores several important goals, and will look for more this season. Gallas will be looking to lift a trophy this season.

Johan Djourou is a great defender and has broken through the ranks. Djourou started as a Young defender and came through the academy with everyone else. Djourou will be looking to break into the team and build on his superb career

Gael Clichy is a super defender and was recently nominated for 'Defender of the Year'. The quick talented defender will be looking to impress Arsene Wenger and has recentley signed a new 5 year contract with Arsenal

Midfielders

Alexandre Song started off in the Arsenal Youth Squad, and since then has developed into a superb Midfielder and can occasionally play in defence. Song will play a key part in the Carling Cup squad and will look to break into the 1st Team.

Lansbury has been called the new David Beckham by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, and I'm not suprised as his superb skill and pace leaves Full-Backs for dead. Lansbury is keen to play a key part in the Carling Cup Team

Emmanuel Eboue has made a massive change, after starting at a right-back, he made a huge change, and has now made big impact as a defencive midfielder or occasionally a winger. Eboue could be involved in Wenger's rotation system

Fagregas's career gets bigger every year as performs at his best every game. Fabregas has a superb season last year and this year will be no different. Fabregas's key passes and superb leadership in the midfield will be key for Arsenal this season, that is if they can keep him.

Abou Diaby is a key midfielder for Arsenal as he sits back to allow Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas to go forward. He can head a ball, pass a tricky ball and even take on players. Arsene Wenger has called him the new Patrick Vieira on many occasions

The youngster is extremley keen to impress Arsene Wenger and definately did in Arsenal's youth trophy last year. Randall can play both an attacking role or a defencive role and will be a vital player in Arsenal's Carling Cup campaign

Aaron Ramsey is a superb player and will be looking to break into the starting XI. He has been awarded the captaincy for Arsenal's Carling Cup Team and is starting to show his true talent. Ramsey has performed to his full extent for Wales Under 21 team and will be looking to peform like that for Arsenal

Denilson is a fantastic young talent in Arsenal's team. The Brazilian is also going to play a key role in Wenger's rotation plans and is extremely keen to impress him. Denilson can either play on the right wing or in the Centre alongside Cesc Fabregas

Bischoff was signed by Wenger after being released by Werder Bremen. The Midfielder is likely not to feature in Arsenal's League Team, but will definetely play a role in the Carling Cup Team. Bischoff is also extremely versitile.

Jack Wilshire is a quailty left winger who is looking to feature in all competitions for Arsenal. His ambition is big, and so is Wenger's impression on the youngster, who has just signed a new 4 year contract. Wilshire is looking to play a key role with Ramsey in the Carling Cup side.

Midfielders Continued

Fran Merida is one of the rising talents at Arsenal, and will be looking to impres Arsene Wenger and make a few starts. Fran Merida is definately the new skill star on the block and will play a major part in the Carling Cup Team

Samir Nasri is Arsenal's new £12 million midfielder and has been brought in to fill the gap on the left hand side of Midfield. Nasri is an extremely skillfull player and can play anywhere across the midfield. Wenger is glad he signed the Frenchman

Rosicky was an immediate hero at Arsenal, but since then has been up staged and is now struggling to get a start. Rosicky's long shots could be a great advantage for Arsenal and he fanastic touch and skill is also great to have

Striker

The Mexican speed king is a fantastic striker and will be looking to break into the 1st team whenever he can. The youngster will definately be looking to rip open the net in the Carling Cup. Vela will also play a key part if either main striker gets injured

Vincent Van den Berg is the new rising star and will be keen to impress Arsene Wenger. Wenger has promised the Dutchman that he will be loaned out and is keen to do well at whatever club he plays at.

Theo Walcott hasn't played for Arsenal in the previous two years, but has been promised starts for them playing on the right wing. Walcott hasn't been a major success since joining Arsenal, but is now ready to kick start his career

Nicklas Bendtner is a superb striker who has made a massive impact in the Reserve team last year. Bendter and Vela will be looking to score plenty to keep Arsenal's trophy hopes alive. Bendtner's height will also be a key advanage for them

Eduardo hasn't played for Arsenal since he broke his leg against Birmingham, but will be looking to get back in action and getting the goals which he has despirately missed. Eduardo won't return until October however.

Adebayor was the Premier League's 2nd top scorer last season and is looking for a similar year. His height, skill and pure determination will get him the goals which Arsenal are looking for this season.

The Dutchman is a pure quality player who can score a goal from anywhere. His free-kicks, Athlectic ability and raw pace are some of his top attributes, however it is his constant performances which gets him the starts he rightly deserves

If you post a prediction, you will be automatically entered into this league. The number next to your name is how many points you have. Arshavin is a great striker, but Van Persie and Adebayor are good too, so Arshavin might not get a game

You could always play Arshavin in an attacking midfielder role, or on the wing.
