2008 Most Improved Manager Mode Award http://i162.photobucket.com/albums/t247/rawr4life2994/Banner7.jpg Above Sig Provided by VillaTillIDie Liverpool FC Never Walking Alone. http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq259/QLDRoar7MM/HalesElNino.png ------------------------------- A Note about the authors: Hales THIS MANAGER MODE thread is the third that ‘hales’ has created on the EAUK Community Forums. His prior Manager Mode entitled “‘Roaring To Glory - Queensland Roar MM” reached 600 comments and was personally deemed as a success. However hales’ passion had grown since he started “Roaring To Glory”, and he went onto his new Manager Mode entitled Liverpool FC – The Pride of England. “Liverpool FC is a big club, and I hope to service it well,” Hales said. The Manager Mode did extremely well by his own personal standards, until one day people deemed three games per 2,000 comments not very good. Hales listened to them and understood. This Manager Mode will show how attempts to regain the reputation that won him a Manager Mode of 2008 Award this year. ElNino1310 THIS MANAGER MODE thread is the second that ‘ElNino1310’ has created on the EAUK Community Forums. He still currently runs his first and only prior Manager Mode "Manchester City- The Price Is Right" which just recently broke the 300 comment mark, a personal achievement by New Zealander. However personal relations between he and Hales created friction in this forums, however once that forgave eachother and 'made out' they began this thread, to silence the critics that say 'ElNino is lalalala'. Sadly that was Hales before they made up *winks*. Foreword by Hales ElNino and Hales are both avid supporters of Liverpool Football Club and will be hoping they service the club that has won 18 Domestic titles well. This manager mode is not only a labour of their writing, this Manager Mode is a labour of love for LFC. Rules of Viewing/Commenting When viewing, please feel free to mention any problems you feel in the Manager Mode. This could be if the updates arn't common enough, or if you feel a section of the Manager Mode isnt very well written, both ElNino and i would love to hear your concerns. However we will not take kindly to abuse or sectarian comments, which abuse either Nino, myself or the two of us directly. ------------------------------- Team Information- Full Team Name: Liverpool Football Club Nickname(s): The Reds – The Red Side – The Pool Founded: 1892 by John Houlding Sponsor: Carlsberg Home strip colour: Red + White Away strip colour: Grey + Red Third strip colour: Metallic Green + Black ------------------------------- Home Kit: http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq259/QLDRoar7MM/eng_liverpool_1_0809-1.gif Away Kit: http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq259/QLDRoar7MM/eng_liverpool_2_0809.gif Third Kit: http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq259/QLDRoar7MM/eng_liverpool_3_0809.gif ------------------------------- Liverpool Honours LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB is the most successful English professional football club in the history of the great and beautiful game. Full Stadium Name: Anfield Stadium Opened: 1884 Stadium Capacity: 45,362 Tenants: Everton FC – 1884-1892 Tenants: Liverpool FC – 1892 – Present Stadium History Anfield was built in 1884 and was originally the home of Everton F.C. The unsuccesful club played at the ground until 1892, when they left after a rent dispute with the stadium managment. Little did they know this would create Englands most successful team Liverpool F.C., who were formed as a result of Everton leaving Anfield. Some 117 years next year Anfield has seen Liverpool rise to the top of every competition, and his history wherever you go. The highest attendance recorded at Anfield is 61,905 for Liverpool's match against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup fifth round on 2 February 1952. Anfield is known to be a fortress for Liverpool FC, and Liverpool did not lose a home league match at Anfield during the 1893–94, 1970–71, 1976–77, 1978–79, 1979–80 and 1987–88 seasons. They also won all their home games during the 1893–94 season. From January 1978 to January 1981, Liverpool did not lose a match at Anfield, encompassing 85 games, in which Liverpool scored 212 goals and conceded 35. This feat has only ever been surpassed by Chelsea, and Liverpool broke their broke when they won 1-0 at the Bridge earlier this season. A famous fixture of the stadium is the 'This is Anfield' sign that can be seen in the players tunnel. It tells the players who play Liverpool who they are and what they stand for. It also tells the opposition just who they are playing against. ![]() Fernando Torres and Rafa Benitez are a few of the people that have touched the sign. There have recently been plans to move from Anfield to a new stadium in Stanley Park, which would be situated across the road from Anfield. This new stadium will have a capacity of 70,000 people and was supposed to be ready for the 2011-12 season for Liverpool, however due to the current economic crisis this may have to be pitched back for years to come. They are both billionaire businessman with a flair for making whole clubs hate them. ![]() When ‘Rafa’ arrived from Valencia some wondered how he would do after Gerard Houllier. Two UEFA Champions Leagues finals and an FA Cup, Community Shield and UEFA Super cup later he is one of the favourite sons of Anfield, and has the most famous motif beard. He recently underwent surgery for kidney stones, which were removed successfully. ![]() Born and bred in Liverpool, Sammy played almost 200 times for the team from Merseyside and took to the field for 14 English caps. In 2007 he made his big break as a manager when he became the head of Bolton Wanderers, and in the offseason this year he was announced as the new assistant manager to Rafa Benitiez. He is a proven manager. ![]() Gary Ablett made a sentimental return to Liverpool in July 2006 when he took over as the club's reserve team manager. The former left-back succeeded Paco Herrera, and within two years had led the second string to the league title. One of Ablett's duties is to nurture Academy graduates, as well as the plethora of foreign and English youngsters brought to Melwood under Rafa Benitez. ![]() Mauricio Pellegrino began his second stint at Anfield in July 2008 when he was appointed first-team coach. Having been signed by Rafa Benitez as a player in 2005, the former defender now aids the Rafalution from behind the scenes. He is favourite with the lads at Melwood and a Hales fave. Reserve Coach and Head of Technical Analysis : Angel Vales Angel joined the backroom staff in the summer of 2007 as head of the technical and video analysis department at Melwood and as reserve team coach. Fitness Coach: Paco de Miguel Paco De Miguel is the first-team fitness coach based at Melwood. His main role is to devise and implement a fitness plan to keep the senior players in top condition throughout the season. Chief Scout: Eduardo Marcia Eduardo Macia joined the Liverpool backroom team in the summer of 2006 after deciding to leave Valencia for a new challenge. The Spaniard is chief scout for the club and is responsible for scouring the footballing world for players with both the potential and character required to play for the Reds. Club Doctor: Mark Waller A Liverpool fan since moving to the city from Northamptonshire in 1977, Dr Mark Waller heads up the club's medical department and is responsible for the medical care of the first team squad at Melwood. This involves the prevention and treatment of injuries and any ongoing rehabilitation for any injured player. He also has a major input into the dietary intakes of the first team squad. He travels with the team to all games, attends home reserve matches and is also doctor for the England Under-21 international side. Kit Manager: Graham Carter Graham Carter is responsible for the first team's kit in training and matches. ------------------------------- ![]() LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB has several of the world’s most fierce rivalries, and among them some of these include, but are not limited too: Manchester United: This is arguably the fiercest rivalry in not only England but in all of Europe. Spain has the El Classico, Holland has the Amsterdam derby, but England has the north west derby between the two best teams in England. In all of history Liverpool has been the best club, however on current form Manchester United has prevailed. Every game is played around midday to stop alcohol comsumption which in turn leads to violence which occurs nearly every time these two sides meet. Everton: Possibly the closest derby geographically as one field separates these two teams, a field that will soon become Stanley Park. They have a fierce yet peaceful derby which in many cases separates families and friends for that one afternoon. In both long term history and short term results Liverpool has been by far the stronger outfit, and unless David Moyes can turn the team around this trend is set to continue. Chelsea: This rivalry has evolved far more over the past few years as England made its dominance clear in the Champions League. For three of the past four seasons Liverpool and Chelsea have met in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League. Luckily Liverpool are up 2-1, having gone on to win in 2005 and become runners up in 2007. This also highlighted the rivalry between former manager Jose Mourinho and Rafa Benitez, a truly amazing sight of charisma verse brains. AC Milan: Another rivalry that has formed over recent times. This is mainly due to the fact that the two teams have met in several high level European tournaments, namely that fact they met in both the 2005 and 2007 Champions League finals, the latter being AC Milans win. However the 2005 win was regarded by some as the greatest European Cup win in history, as Liverpool came from 3 goals down in the 1st half, to win on penalties after three equalising goals in quick secsession from Steven Gerrard, the outgoing Vladimir Smicer and finally Xabi Alonso. Many more important bouts are almost sure to occurr in the future. Nottingham Forest: This rivalry was formed not by years of rivalry, but one single event. In 1989 Liverpool were playing an FA Cup match against Forest, and it was at this match that the world famous Hillsborough disaster occurred. 96 Liverpool fans lost their lives that die. It was the single worst day in the history of the Worlds Most Successful club. This rivalry however turned into more of a somber mood, and both clubs paid respect to eachothers fans. The following weekend AC Milan sung out 'You'll Never Walk Alone' as they took to the field at the San Siro. It was something gave goosebumps to those involved. ------------------------------- LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB has several of the world’s best and well known songs and quotes in world football. Among these sayings and tunes that some remember forever, there are always stories behind them, however just to hear them is a great enough experience. ![]() 2 "If Everton were playing at the bottom of the garden, I'd pull the curtains." Bill Shankly 3 "The trouble with referees is that they know the rules, but they don't know the game." Bill Shankly 4 "A lot of football success is in the mind. You must believe that you are the best and then make sure that you are. In my time at Liverpool we always said we had the best two teams in Merseyside, Liverpool and Liverpool reserves." Bill Shankly 5 "If you're in the penalty area and don't know what to do with the ball, put it in the net and we'll discuss the options later." Bob Paisley 6 "Liverpool was made for me and I was made for Liverpool." Bill Shankly 7 "Liverpool without European football is like a banquet without wine." Roy Evans 8 "Mind you, I've been here during the bad times too - one year we came second." Bob Paisley 9 "I hate talking about football. I just do it, you know?" Robbie Fowler 10 "Sometimes I feel I'm hardly wanted in this Liverpool team. If I get two or three saves to make, I've had a busy day." Ray Clemence 11 "Anyone who doesn't learn from Ian Rush needs shooting." Robbie Fowler 12 "Liverpool are magic, Everton are tragic." Emlyn Hughes 13 "I'd kick my own brother if necessary... it's what being a professional footballer is all about." Steve McMahon 14 "It was like playing in a foreign country." Ian Rush on his time with Juventus in Italy 15 "I said to Kevin (Keegan), 'I'll go near post' and he replied, 'No, just go for the ball.'" Tommy Smith 16 "Anybody who plays for me should be a bad loser." Graeme Souness. 17 "It's best being a striker. If you miss five then score the winner, you're a hero. The goalkeeper can play a blinder, then let one in… and he's a villain." Ian Rush 18 "Of course I didn't take my wife to see Rochdale as an anniversary present, it was her birthday. Would I have got married in the football season? Anyway, it was Rochdale reserves." Bill Shankly 19 "They compare Steve McManaman to Steve Heighway and he's nothing like him, but I can see why - it's because he's a bit different." Kevin Keegan 20 "Bruce Grobbelaar will play on until he is 40 - and at the top level." Bruce Grobbelaar 21 "He's better than Brian Lara because he's 600 not out. What a guy." Roy Evans on Ian Rush's 600th appearance for Liverpool 22 "Should the aggregate score be level after 90 minutes, extra time will be played." Fulham's matchday programme for the second leg of the Littlewoods Cup tie in 1986-87. Liverpool were 10-0 up from the first leg 23 "There are those who say maybe I should forget about football. Maybe I should forget about breathing." Gerard Houllier 24 "Nobody likes being criticised, particularly by players who will be in Disneyland this summer on their holidays rather than the World Cup in Japan." Phil Thompson responding to criticism from Frank de Boer of Barcelona who said Liverpool were boring 25 "Son, you'll do well here as long as you remember two things. Don't over-eat and don't lose your accent." Bill Shankly to Ian St John ![]() Here, in no particular order, are 10 undisputed Kop Classics. 1. You’ll Never Walk Alone 2. Fields of Anfield Road 3. Liverbird Upon My Chest 4. Poor Scouser Tommy 5. When The Reds Go Marching In 6. L I V 7. Red & White Kop 8. Bill Shankly From Glenbuck 9. Underneath the Floodlights 10. Scouser in *** Paris I really hope the links above work You should be able to download and listen to all the different songs. Some of them are real crackers. However one song needs a special mention ![]() You'll Never Walk Alone Written by Rogers and Hammerstein for the 1945 Broadway musical 'Carousel', Gerry Marsden and his Pacemakers performed the song in Liverpool clubs during the birth of Merseybeat. "The audience would just stop, stand and listen. It had this immediate effect," says Marsden. Released in October 1963, YNWA was the Pacemakers' third consecutive number one and nowhere was it more popular than on the Kop, as fans sang along with the PA before matches. When it fell from the top spot, Kopites continued to sing it and YNWA has been played and sung at Anfield ever since. When you walk through a storm Hold your head up high And don't be afraid of the dark At the end of the storm Is a golden sky And the sweet silver song of a lark Walk on through the wind Walk on through the rain Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown Walk on, walk on With hope in your heart And you'll never walk alone You'll never walk alone A true Liverpool classic, that has also been used by clubs such as Celtic
