Rafael Benitez Pens New Contract at Liverpool Football Club

An obviously happy Rafa talk to media this morning

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has signed a new four-year deal which will see him remain at Anfield until 2012.

It seems as though a complete backflip has occurred for the Liverpool FC manager, as he left Anfield pondering his future only days before penning a new contract worth reportedly over $9,000,000 a season.

After leading them to Champions League triumph in 2005, Benitez guided the Reds to FA Cup glory in 2006.

He told the club's website: "There was never going to be a problem once we reached an agreement. All the documents have been signed and sent to the club."

Benitez added: "I'm very happy at Liverpool and hope we can enjoy more success in the seasons to come."

It's believed that with Rafa Benitez signing a new deal at the club, the owners will be staying. This makes the victory for some Liverpool fans bitter sweet.

Sadly Rafa was only resigned so that we (Liverpool supporters) dont hate Hicks and Gillett so much, however the damage has already been done. They've screwed up over so many times before, i don't think we can let this happen again.

It's also believed that the possible transfer targets of August will be now speculated upon, however it's now expected Liverpool will issue a statement regarding any new players.
