Schmeichel's Howlers Advances Birmingham



Birmingham have beaten Manchester City 2-1 (AET) in the second round of the Carling Cup. Manchester City opened the scoring in the 43rd minute from a Stephen Ireland header and never looked back, City controlled the game until the 87th minute when Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel's fumble from the corner fell at the feet of Larsson and he made no mistake in booting into the net.
At the End of Normal Time it was 1-1
Manchester City looked well and truly on topin Extra Time and were unlucky not to score on many occasions. Then Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel gifted Birmingham City the game after Tal Ben-Haim's pass back to Schmeichel was missed completely by Schmeichel's kick Jerome not one to miss out on an opportunity to score raced round and emphatically booted the ball into the back of the net. Birmingham were 2-1 up after 119 minutes, Man City through everything they could in the last minute but it just wasnt enough. Birmingham advanced through to the Carling Cup 3rd round.
A dejected Man City walked off and many fans showed there appreciation for Schmeichel whose 2 howlers had cost City the game by throwing rubbish at him.
