Default Man Utd 4-2 Aston Villa

^Tevez gave Man Utd a important 2 goal lead^

Man United came into this game with a full strength squad. This was one of the important matches in Man United’s season and needed the best players they had.

It was a nervous start to the game for the Man United fans when Agbonlahor nearly scored for Aston Villa when his header hit the bar in the 7th minute and Petrov couldn’t put away the rebound.

But this didn’t seem to affect Man United too much and they kept on attacking. They got their rewards in the 30th minute when Rooney fired a ball across the face of the goal for Ronaldo to tap into the net.

Man United extended their lead in the 40th minute. Ronaldo played a chipped through ball to Berbatov, he controlled the ball before smashing it past Friedel on the half-volley.

Aston Villa pulled a goal back in the 65th when after a scramble in the box the ball ended up at the feet of Agbonlahor and he fired it past Van Der Sar to make it 2-1.

Man United then brought on Tevez, Nani and Anderson for Rooney, Giggs and Scholes, this turned out to be a very good move indeed. Laursen headed the ball out of the box to Tevez. It didn’t look like there was any danger but Tevez hit a magnificent volley into the bottom corner, out of the reach of the keeper.

Harewood managed to pull another goal back in the 89th minute it just looked like a harmless long ball but Van Der Sar came out to gather it but Harewood got there before him and headed it over him.

In injury time, Tevez restored United’s 2 goal lead when Ronaldo floated a ball over to the back post and Tevez nodded it into the net giving Man United a comfortable lead going into the second leg. Also in the other tie Sporting Lisbon have a 3-1 lead over Juventus.

Default A. Villa 0-2 Man Utd

^Andeson celebrates with his team-mates^

Man United came into this match with a 4-2 aggregate lead over Aston Villa and were strong favourites to get into their 4th European cup final in the clubs history. Sir Alex rested Rooney, Scholes and Neville, and brought Tevez, Veloso and Rafael into the side.

This match started at a very slow pace and not many chances were created in the first half. John Carew thought that he had given Aston Villa the lead in the 30’ minute but was given offside and the goal was not counted. Both teams went into the break 0-0.

This half started off the same as first with both teams not creating much but the match picked up with around half a hour left when Anderson, Nani and Rooney came on for Veloso , Giggs and Berbatov. This had nearly an immediate effect on the match. Tevez broke away from the Full-back and sprinted down the wing before playing a ball into the middle for Anderson. He had no one around him and slotted the ball into the net for only his 1st goal of the season but what an important one it was.

Nani nearly added another around 5 minutes later but his shot came back into play off the post. Man United did get another in the 90th minute when Tevez’s shot hit the bar but it fell nicely to Rooney and he tapped it into the net.

Man United will face Sporting Lisbon in the Final who beat Juventus 2-1 and 5-2 on aggregate. Can Man United keep up their 100% record in the European Cup finals???

Good win mate

I'm sure you'll beat Sporting in the finals, but watch out for Liédson, Moutinho and Djaló
