The End of an Era! ![]() Manchester United fans have woken up today and will be shocked by the news that Sir Alex Ferguson has retired as managed of Manchester United. Sir Alex has been manager of for 26 years now, In that time he has won fourteen Premier League titles, six FA Cups, three League Cups, eleven FA Community Sheilds, three times Champions League winner, two FIFA World Club Cups, two Super Cups, one UEFA Cup Winners Cup and one Intercontinental cup. That is forty-three trophies in only 26 years, an average of 1.7 trophies a year. Sir Alex had this to say"I have enjoyed every single moment of my time at Man United. They've provided me with memories that I will never forget. I've worked with some great players over the years and they have all been great to work with. There are also the staff at the club that I've enjoyed working with. I made my decision to retire because I want to spend more time with my family and friends. I'd like to thank everyone at the club for making this such an enjoyable decision and I wish everyone at the club the best of luck" Sir Alex will stay at the club as a board member and Ambassador of the club. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be the new manager. His first match will be against Real Madrid in the Champions League. His Career Sir Alex Ferguson was born in Glasgow, Scotland on the 31st of December 1941. He is the current manager of Manchester United FC. He is considered to the best manager in football history and has won more trophies that any other manager in English football. He has won manager of the month most times in British football History. He started off his playing career at Queens Park as an amateur. He made his debut as a striker aged only 16. He managed to score but Queens Park lost that game 2-1 to Stanraer. He scored 20 goals in 31 games for Queens Park but didn’t make it into the first team and moved to St. Johnstone in 1960. He regularly wanted to move because of lack of games but in a match against Rangers he started because St. Johnstone didn’t have another striker to pick and Sir Alex managed to score a hat-trick. This grabbed the interest of Dunfermline and they signed him in the summer of 1964. In the 1965-66 season he managed to score 45 goals in 51 appearances and finished top scorer in the league with 31 goals. In 1967, he joined Rangers for £65,000 and record fee between 2 Scottish clubs at the time. In 1969 he was blamed for the goal they conceded in the Scottish cup final and was forced to play with the youth team. His brother said he was so upset that he threw away his losers medal. The following OctoberNottinghamForest wanted to sign him but he didn’t want to move so he went to Falkirk instead. There he was promoted to player coach but when John Prentice was appointed manager he removed Ferguson’s coaching responsibilities. He then requested a transfer and went to Ayr United and he finished his playing career there in 1974 In June 1974, he was appointed manager of East Stirlingshire when he was only 32. It was only a part-time job but he earned £40 a week. A big problem at the club was they had no Keeper. But he gained the respect of all the players and improved the results considerably improved but in October he was offered the job at St. Mirren. He was manager at St. Mirren from 1974 to 1978 and brought them from the bottom half of the second division to first division champions in 1977. The average of the side was only 19 and the captain was 20. St. Mirren then became the only club to sack Sir Alex Ferguson because they said that he had made a number of contract breaches. Ferguson then joined Aberdeen as manager in June 1978. He was very unlucky in the first couple of years and he lost the League cup final twice. Aberdeen started the season poorly but then improved dramatically in the new year and won the league on the final day with a 5-0 win. He then won the Scottish cup in 1982 and was offered the job at Wolves but turned it down because he said that he hadn’t done all that he wanted do at Aberdeen. Ferguson then led Aberdeen to even greater success the next year. They had qualified for the European Cup Winner’s cup by winning the Scottish cup the previous season. They managed to knock out Bayern Munich which gave them the confidence to go on and win the competition. They beat Real Madrid 2-1 in the final on the 11th of May 1983. He was offered the job at Tottenham and Arsenal during the season but he took over from Ron Atkinson in November 1986. He was appointed Manager of Manchester United on the 5th November 1986. In his first season in charge he led Man Utd to an 11th place finish. His only away win that season was a 1-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield. 3 weeks after he was appointed manager his mother Elizabeth died of lung cancer aged 64. Ferguson appointed Archie Knox his assistant at United. The 1987-88 season Man Utd finished 2nd nine points behind Liverpool, after signing a couple of big players such as Steve Bruce. During the 1988-89 season, Man Utd played the Bermudan National Team and Somerset cricket club in this match Knox and Ferguson both played. This is Ferguson’s only appearance for the Man Utd first team. After a very poor run of form, It was suspected that if Ferguson lost against NottinghamForest in the FA cup that he would be sacked but Man Utd managed to win the match and ended up making it to the final. Man Utd won the match against CrystalPalace 1-0 and it was Ferguson’s first major trophy at United. He won his first League trophy in the 1992-93 season and were the first team to win the Premier League. In 1993-94 Ferguson won his first double with Man Utd and second in his career. In between 1994 and 1999 Man Utd won 11 trophies capped off by winning an amazing treble in 1999. United had a barren run from 2001-2006 where Man Utd only managed to win 4 trophies. But in 2006-07 season Man Utd beat Chelsea to the title who had been dominating since the arrival of Russian Tycoon Roman Abramovich. Man Utd failed to win the double that season because of a late goal from Didier Drogba in FA Cup final. Man Utd did do the double last season when they won the League on the last day and won the Champions League in a dramatic penalty shoot-out against Chelsea. Man Utd capped off a very good year in December 2008 when they won the World club championship against LDU Quito to crown United the best team in the world. Stats

ok for spain
Real Villareal-Overlooked yet solid squad Portugal, cant go past your big three of Porto, Sporting of Benfica id recommend Benfica because of the amazing squad on paper, plus they are an all round interesting team and for the Brasileiro how could you overlook Palmeiras, striking combination of Marquinhos and Keirisson or Sao Paulo if you wanted to go with a more well known club... Italy... i did a Napoli mm, squad needs work but it is good fun.. AS Roma..needs minimal changing, amazing team to play with. or you could go crazy and do a Mexican one... will be hard to get interest.. but will probly be the most induvidual mm on the forums along with xen's (and mine )whatever you do. DO NOT do an english team.... theyr'e lame now.
