![]() ^Park volleys the ball past Almunia to put United 4-0 up^ Sir Alex Ferguson called this game one of the biggest of the season in his pre-match press conference because of the fact that Man United havn't won the Carling Cup since 2005. He came close 2 years ago but was beaten in the Final by Blackburn Rovers and last year he was knocked out on away goals to Everton. Rooney nearly got his name on the score sheet with only 3 minutes gone. It was a brilliant flowing move by Man United that ended in a Ronaldo cross being headed a inches wide from a Rooney header. Arsenal seemed to be struggling in the air because 2 minutes later Man United came close from a header again. Carrick whipped the ball into the box from a corner and Ronaldo met it with his head but he was denied by the post and Eboue cleared for Arsenal. United finally took the lead in the 18th minute with nearly an identical corner to the last one. Carrick whipped the ball into the box, Ronaldo rose above everyone to head the ball towards goal and once again he was denied by the woodwork but this time it fell to Rossi and he poked it in. 5 minutes later, United were 2-0 up and the goal was scored from a corner, once again. Ronaldo rose highest again and headed the ball over Almunia into the net. It was a start that no one in Old Trafford had ever dreamt about. Man United kept on pressurising Arsenal until the end of the half but they couldn't add to their lead and went into the break 2-0 up after a very convincing performance. Arsenal would need to start the second half brightly if they had any chance in this match. Rossi got his second of the day 5 minutes into the second half. Ronaldo got the ball on the half way line and ran down the wing. When he reached the box he pulled the ball back to Rossi and he took one touch before firing the ball into the bottom corner of the net. Park virtually sealed their place in the final in the 54th minute when he got his name added to the score sheet. Ronaldo broke free of the Arsenal defence and was one-on-one with Almunia. He tried to chip him but Almunia stood tall and saved it but the ball dropped down to Park and he volleyed the ball into the net. Adebayor and Van Persie pulled 2 goals back for Arsenal but it didn't matter one bit. Rossi capped off a brilliant debut in the 77th minute when he sealed his hat-trick. He played a one-two with Rooney on the edge of the box before smashing the ball into the top corner past a helpless Almunia. Man United play Liverpool next. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Team Foster(6) Neville(5), Ferdinand(5), Vidic(4), Evra(6) Ronaldo(8, Carrick(7), Scholes(6), Park(6) Rossi(9), Rooney(7) Subs ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Match Facts MU-ARS 19 - Shots - 10 9 - On Target - 5 50% - Possesion - 50% 1 - Tackles - 14 0 - Fouls - 0 0 - Yellows - 0 0 - Reds - 0 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- MOTM ![]() Rossi - 9 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Results Middlesboro 2-1 Chelsea

Basically some people zip files because you can put lots of files into one and it downloads faster. You need WinRAR to make a zip file and to extract files from a zipped folder.
If you have the file, right click, then go on extract and it should work.

Transfers Galore! The January transfer window is suddenly upon us and whilst clubs from all across the globe are tightening their purse strings in the wake of the latest global economic crisis, clubs from the “recession-proof” Premier League are preparing to launch several bids for players in order to stay up, qualify for Europe or push for the title. After being purchased by the Abu Dhabi United Group in the summer of 2008, purchasing Robinho on deadline day for a record-breaking 32.5 million and boldly claiming to win the UEFA Champions league in three seasons, many pundits expected Manchester City to forever remain in the shadow of United. Fast forward to the present and that dream still is yet to be realised. After being given his third strike by the owners in the summer, Mark Hughes was replaced with former Barcelona manager Frank Rijkaard, receiving a gargantuan salary as City desperately tried to emulate the success of their better half. The risk has paid off though, Rijkaard’s astute tactical approach to football has breathed life into the previously-deflated ambitions of the City faithful and they now sit in fourth place; but only ahead of Tottenham Hotspur by superior goal difference. Are these three the future of Manchester City?![]() However the Citizens are looking to improve on that slender advantage Rijkaard is keeping close watch on Bayern Munich defender Phillip Lahm, who is unhappy with the amount of playing time he is being given under manager Juergen Klinnsman. The German international won’t come cheap though, with his most recent valuation in the vicinity of 11 million. The Dutchman is also closing in on a deal with Werder Bremen midfielder Diego. With Werder shattered in the wake of a 12 game losing streak which has seen them plummet to the bottom of the Bundesliga; the Brazilian has handed in a transfer request in a desperate bid to play Champions League football next season. City are currently negotiating a 4-year deal worth a mammoth 800,000 per week, plus a transfer fee of 41 million in order to stave of the likes of Juventus and Inter Milan. In the other half of Manchester, Sir Alex will be looking to extend his side’s lead at the top of the Premier League, announcing his interest in signing Valencia midfielder David Silva and Gremio wingback Anderson Pico to strengthen his left flank for the expected retirements of Patrice Evra and Ryan Giggs in the next few seasons. However to buy Fergie will have to sell and it looks likely that Aaron Ramsey, Hugo Lloris and Rodrigo Possebon will be those to make way. Whilst Lloris only arrived at Old Trafford in the summer, he has become frustrated with Ferguson’s continual selections of Edwin Van Der Sar ahead of him. He has also dropped out of the plans of national coach Zinedine Zidane; missing out on the recent World Cup qualifiers against Macedonia and Scotland. By moving to another club as first choice keeper the 24 year-old hopes to be back in the Les Blues XI in time to feature in the European Championships to be held in Poland/Ukraine. Former Arsenal man Ramsey is definitely a player of the future, but the 20 year old is not content with his current role at the Red Devils, making just four appearances since his arrival. The young Welshman is seeking a return to Cardiff City and is prepared to take a pay cut in order to do so. At present the Bluebirds are offering 700,000, but it is expected they will have to increase their offer substantially to prise the youngster away from Fergie. Rodrigo Possebon however, is on his way out for different reasons entirely; the 22 year old falling out with his teammates and manager after branding Carlos Tevez and Cristiano Ronaldo as ‘filthy cheats’ last week in the wake of a particularly nasty muckabout game during training. United officials are refusing to divulge details of the incident, but reports are saying that Possebon lashed out with some potentially career-ending slide tackles after being double-marked by the pair. Ferguson has confirmed that the Brazilian is on the transfer list and is willing to take offers from 700,000.
North London is following suit in the transfer market, with both Arsenal and Tottenham looking to strengthen their squads to mount a successful charge into the Champions League places. The Gunners are pursuing Werder defender Per Mertesacker in order to fill the hole left by Gallas at the start of the season. Wenger had hoped that Johan Djorou would be able to fill the void left by the former-Chelsea man; but several poor performances in quick succession has seen him fall out of favour. Mertesacker, like Diego, is looking to play Champions League football and believes that the Emirates is the perfect place to do so: “Arsenal are a very prestigious club and have a great manager in Arsene Wenger. I would love to play for them and hopefully we can negotiate a deal before the window is closed.” Last edited by Mariners!!!!!!; 21-03-2009 at 01:32 PM.. |
