Default Man Utd 4-0 Derby

^Welbeck celebrates after scoring his first of the season^

The last time these two teams met was way back in 2008 when Man United won 1-0 from a Cristiano Ronaldo goal. Derby have a very different team from the one that played in that match but Man United's team hasn't changes that match. Only 3 players from that match were in Derby's team but 5 players from Man United's team are still in the team, there is 8 if you count the subs.

Man United threatened from the very start, Tevez forcing Roy Carroll to concede a corner in the opening minute. They kept up the pressure but Derby's defence were managing to hold on. Tevez came the closest in the 5th minute when he cut in from the wing but his shot came back into play off the post and Anderson's follow up was blocked.

Welbeck had two good chances to give Man United the lead in the first half but his lack of match pratice showed as he scuffed both of the shots. The two chances were fairly similar, the first one came after a very good run down the wing by Ryan Giggs. He then pulled the ball back for Welbeck but he hit the shot inches wide of the right hand post. The second chance was made by Tevez but the outcome was still the same expect this time it went wide of the left hand post.

Man United went into the break 0-0 and were not very happy. They dominated the whole half with Derby only having a single shot which went wide. The second half performance was much convincing though.

It only took United 6 minutes for them to get take the lead. Giggs ran down the wing, cut into the box but before he could pull the ball back he was chopped down by Jay McEverly. The referee pointed straigth to the spot. Tevez stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way and sent the ball into the back of the net.

8 minutes later and United were 2-0 up. This time it was Welbeck making up for his missed chances. The ball was crossed towards the back post and the young striker jumped above everyone to nod the ball into the net. Nani sealed the win in the 64th minute. He dribbled past all the Derby defenders in his way before poking the ball under Roy Caroll who was not having a good day at the office.

Fabio and Berbatov came on for Nani and Welbeck in the 80th minute. Ex-United player Luka Modric also came on, I don't think this was the way he envisioned coming back to Old Trafford. Tevez completed the rout in the 90th minute with nearly the last kick of the ball. The ball was cleared from a corner but only as far as Tevez and he took it past one player before smashing the ball past the keeper.

Man United are now 15 points clear of Tottenham in 2nd place with 17 games played. United play West Ham in the Carling Cup 1/4 next.

Welbeck will start for United regularly one day. That was brilliant the goal he scored against Derby the other day.
