Default Man Utd 3-2 Middlesbrough

^Berbatov fires United ahead in the 93rd minute^

The last time these two teams met was way back in March where Man United came out comfortable 3-0 winners. This match wasn’t so comfortable for United. They stuck with the same team that beat Werder Bremen in the hope that they would put on an equally impressive performance.

It only took United 9 minutes for them to get their first chance but it was wasted. The ball was crossed into Ronaldo but his header went about 2 yards wide of the post. This chance did seem to waken United up a bit though and Ronaldo troubled the Middlesbrough defence again but the chances didn’t come to anything.

Their best chances of the half came from Tevez. The ball was crossed into the box by Ronaldo, it went to Park, he volleyed it but it was blocked. The ball fell to Tevez on the edge of the box and he smashed a low shot towards the goal but it went inches wide.

The rest of the half was pretty uneventful with Van Der Sar only having to make one save from Mido. Man United would be a bit disappointed going in to half-time because they had the better chances and the most possession.

United were hit by a real sucker punch in the 47th minute, Middlesbrough who had been on the back foot for most of the first half took the lead. The ball was played out to Downing on the wing by Mido and he crossed the ball into the box first time. Van Der Sar came out a little bit but Alfonso Alves got to the ball before him and diving headed it into the bottom corner leaving Van Der Sar with no chance.

7 minutes later and United went 2-0 down and had a real mountain to climb. The ball was with Aliadere on the wing and he played a lovely through ball to Mido in the middle of the box. The big Egyptian took one touch before blasting the ball into the top corner and gave Middlesbrough a commanding lead.

It was a real mixed bag for United in the 70th minute. The good thing was that Park had been brought down just inside the box and the referee had given United a penalty but the bad thing was that Carrick had to be carried off and will miss the final match of the Champions League group stages. Ronaldo put the Carrick injury into the back of his mind and slammed the ball into top corner with the keeper going the opposite way.

Man United started to push and push trying to get their equaliser but the Middlesbrough defence was remaining very strong. It was them that caused there own downfall in the 84th minute though. They had got a corner and pushed the defenders up to try and get the goal that would have sealed the win. The cross was poor though and it was cleared easily. The ball came out to Tevez, he played a brilliant through ball into Berbatov’s path and he beat the defenders for pace before slotting the ball into the top corner.

Man United now started to throw everything at Middlesbrough in the final minutes in the hope of getting the win. They had a series of corners in the 91st minute but they didn’t come to anything and when the ball was cleared for a corner the fans thought that the referee would blow for full time. He didn’t and the ball was quickly thrown to Tevez, he turned and cut into the box before firing the ball towards the bottom corner the shot was saved though but only as far as Berbatov and he smashed the ball into an empty net.

Default FIFA World Club Cup

Man Utd Squad Announced

Here at MUTV we are glad to say we can exclusively reveal the squad that will travel to Japan for the FIFA World Club Cup Championship. The squad was announced a few moments ago and we can know show you the 23-man squad.

Goalkeepers: Van Der Sar, Foster
Defenders: Neville, Rafael, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evans, Evra, O'Shea, Pique
Midfielders: Ronaldo, Nani, Park, Carrick, Scholes, Anderson, Hargreaves, Giggs, Veloso
Forwards: Rooney, Tevez, Berbatov, Welbeck

That is a very good squad that Sir Alex has chosen for the tournament and they will be a force to be reckoned with. Sir Alex obviously means business and wants to go out there and win. One notable absence is that of David Villa, he has been scoring a few goals over the last couple of season but he isn't getting enough playing time. He has managed 4 goals this season and Sir Alex Ferguson has made that clear it is not enough. Tevez, Rooney and Berbatov have already got into double-figures and there are rumours that Villa will leave the club in January.

This is also a chance to see how good the young players are. Welbeck, Rafael, Anderson, Nani and Veloso have all been named in the squad and will be hoping to impress and try and get some valuable playing time. All the Man United fans I have talked to all think that United will win the tournament easily but we'll have to wait and see. United travel to Japan to play Gremio of Brazil in the 1/4 final in 3 weeks.

Looks like the game against Middlesbrough was a good one. How are you playing the club world cup then? I can't get that in my MM.

Ok without futher a do lets begin the draw.

The first team out is........
Barcelona and they will play .....
Bayern Munich

The next team out is......
Man Utd who'll be against.......
Wisla Krakow

The teams that will contest the 3rd match are......
AC Milan and.........
Benfica

The next team out is....
Porto and they will play....
Chelsea

For the 5th match it will be....
PSG against.....
Ajax

This is the 3rd last match and it will include....
Roma and....
Spanish Giants Real Madrid

Only 4 teams left now, 2 of which are....
St. Etienne and....
Marsielle

An all french tie there. That means the last match will be
Tottenham against...
Inter Milan

There is some very interesting ties in there but now i'm sorry that is the end of the draw so you may now leave and Good Luck to all the teams.

Reaction: (Sir Alex) Well I suppose we could have got a better team which is why I think were quite lucky. There was loads of good teams in the draw and to get Wisla is a big relief. Of course, it wont be an easy tie though be played Wisla last season and could only manage a 1-1 draw I think. I expect my lads to go out and beat them though.
