Default West Ham 1-2 Man Utd

^What it's was all about^

Team Changes: Man United came into this match knowing that West Ham would put up a real fight. Berbatov was injured so Tevez came into the team to partner Wayne Rooney upfront. Welbeck started on the bench. The rest of the team was the starting XI.

The match started at a pretty fast pace but from then it became a bit of a snore fest as West Ham put most of their players behind the ball. The first chance fell to Tevez in the 11th minute. Carrick played a wonderful chipped through ball to Tevez and he timed his run perfectly before volleying the ball. It looked like it was destined to go in but it clipped the top of the bar instead.

The game was contested mostly in the midfield and it looked like both teams were going to go in to the dressing rooms all level. That was not the case though because in the 40th minute Tevez flicked a ball over the top of the West Ham defence to Ronaldo who let the ball bounce before firing it low beyond Rob Green.

Man United had a few chances in the second half and it took some good goalkeeping by Rob Green to stop Man United going further ahead. It is really amazing how he isn’t England’s first choice keeper.

West Ham managed to equalise in the 77th minute when the ball was whipped into the box. Van Der Sar came out to try and collect the ball but Carlton Cole just got their before him and nodded it into the net. Man United replied immediately. Tevez got the ball from the kick-off and ran at the West Ham defence. He got to the edge of the box before pulling the ball back to Rooney and he smashed it low into the bottom corner.

United brought on Anderson and Park for Scholes and Giggs for the last 10 minutes. Carrick thought that he had sealed the win for United in the 85th minute but when he was reeling away to celebrate he saw that the linesman had raised his flag.

Default Unbeaten Season?

“We Can Be Invincible”

Man United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson had amazingly come out today and said that hid Man United side can go through the season unbeaten. His side has already gone 11 games unbeaten, their last loss going all the way back to April 2011 against Reading. Sir Alex was quoted as saying this “I think we can be invincible. Arsenal did it a couple of seasons ago and I think that we can also achieve that feat. We have gone 11 games unbeaten and I’m targeting to get 50 games unbeaten and beat Arsenal’s record of 49. This side is well capable of going unbeaten. We have won the league for the last 5 years and the first 2 times were the only time we were actually challenged. We also hope to be the first team to retain the Champions league. ”

Sir Alex’s comments have had an immediate response this is what some other managers from the premier league had to say about Ferguson’s comments:

Rafa Benitez – Liverpool: I think that Ferguson does have a chance of going through the season unbeaten but only because he gets preferential treatment from the FA and the referees.

Arsene Wenger – Arsenal: No, it is not possible. We did it a couple of seasons ago but I think that we had a better side back then than Man United does now. If they do manage to go 50 games unbeaten I will have to take my hat off to them

Steve Coppell – Reading: Yes they are well capable of going through the season unbeaten but hopefully we can beat them again this season to stop them from doing that.

Default Fulham 0-5 Man Utd

^Carrick celebrates his first goal of the season^

Team Changes: Man United came into this game wanting to show the rest of the league that they can go through the season unbeaten. The Da Silva twins, Rafael and Fabio started at Right and left back respectively. Tevez retained his place in the starting XI after a good performance against Bolton last week. Anderson and Veloso started in midfield ahead of Carrick and Scholes. Berbatov returned from injury but only made the bench.

The first half was a bit dull and only a few chances were made. Rooney came close a couple of times but all of his shots were saved. The two teams went into half-time at 0-0 in a very uneventful first half.

The second had more excitement in it from the first minute. Rooney got the ball from the kick-off and ran straight at the Fulham defence. He ran past them with ease before firing low past the keeper into the bottom corner. Rooney got his second of the match just before the hour mark. Nani passed the ball to him on the edge of the box, Rooney took one touch before smashing it past Schwarzer in the Fulham goal.

United brought on Carrick and Berbatov for Anderson and Tevez for the last 15 minutes and it made a big impact. With 6 minutes to go Ronaldo got the ball on the wing. He took on Paul Konchesky before cutting into the box, he dribbled past one defender before he was chopped down by John Pantsil. Ronaldo got up and sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot. Carrick came so close to scoring last week but it was ruled out but he was offside. This time he wasn’t offside. In the 87th minute, Berbatov took a shot from the edge of the box but it was pushed away. Carrick was alert though and volleyed the ball into an empty net for his first goal of the season.

Berbatov got his goal on the stroke of full-time. Veloso whipped a corner in to the front post and Ronaldo headed it towards goal but the keeper saved it. The ball was only pushed up into the air though and Berbatov was there to head the ball into the net. Man United have Aston Villa at home in their next match. Can Man United keep up their good run in their first real challenge of the season?

Default Man Utd 3-1 A. Villa

^Jonny Evans came on after Vidic was sent off^

Team Changes: Man United came into this game knowing that this would their first real threat to their unbeaten streak. Neville and Evra both came back into the starting line-up after been given a rest against Fulham last week, Fabio was left out of the squad all together but Rafael made the bench. Berbatov came back into the staring line-up after 2 weeks out injured. Carrick and Scholes also returned to the first XI with Anderson dropped to the bench and Veloso left out of the team.

Man United got off to a very good start because with only 12 minutes gone they were ahead. Rooney had the ball on the edge of the box and tried to thread the ball into the path of Berbatov but it took a deflection and looped into the air and Berbatov volleyed the ball into the bottom corner. But then disaster struck for United in the 20th minute. Vidic was last man back and Harewood was running straight at him. Vidic tackled him perfectly but the referee said it was a foul and sent Vidic off.

Evans came on for Berbatov a few minutes later to fill the gap in the defence and he had an immediate effect. Evans won the header from the free kick and that went straight to Ronaldo and Man United were on the break. The ball was crossed to the back post and Giggs volleyed it and Friedel saved it but it only went out to Scholes and he tapped it into the net. Man United were 2-0 up with only 29 minutes gone.

Aston Villa managed to pull a goal back just before the half-time break. The ball was crossed into the box from the left wing. Harewood came running in and slid to get the ball just before Evra could clear the ball and he poked it past Van Der Sar to give Villa some hope going into half-time.

Ronaldo nearly restored Man United’s 2 goal lead early in the second half. Rooney was fouled 24 yards from goal and Ronaldo stepped up and took the free but the shot smashed off the bar and back into play. Scholes secured all 3 points in the 52nd minute. Giggs cut the ball back to Scholes on the edge of the box and he took one touch before smashing the ball into the top corner.

Man United then sat back and defended for the remainder of the match. Rafael came on for Neville to get some fresh legs on for the last 20 minutes. The match finished 3-1 to United and will give Man United confidence going into the match against Liverpool at Anfield.
