Yakubu Hat-trick gives Stubbs the perfect start

Yakubu scored all of Everton's goals in their 3 - 2 win over Sunderland, who came back fighting after going 2 - 0 down. The action got underway with Danny Tinkler being fouled 23 seconds into his first start. Dean Whitehead recieved a yellow card for the challenge. Yakubu got his first goal after a superb piece of skill from Tinkler, who managed to beat Nyron Nosworthy for pace, before doing a rabona into the path of Yakubu, who volleyed in to make it 1 - 0. The first half was rather quiet with only several bookings and a goal, but we did see a piece of goalkeeping skill, Lars Jacobsen passed a dodgy pass back to Howard, who controlled, Djibril Cisse sprinted for Howard and tried to tackle him, Howard tried a step over and spin and it paid off as Cisse missed the tackle and Howard simply passed it to Gabriel Heinze.

The second half started with off with a sub as Carlos Edwards came on for Steed Malbranque. Everton pushed for a second goal early on, and found it. Mikel Arteta's corner was met by Yakubu's head and it flew past Martin Fulop, who didn't seem to move. Sunderland pulled a goal soon after, as Andy Reid played a ball over the top for Dean Whitehead, who jumped and headed the ball, before colliding with Howard, who went down holding his chest, he ball bounced and was cleared off the line by Jacobsen, but the linesman raised his flag, and a goal was given. Sunderland then found an equaliser as another ball over the top, this time by Carlos Edwards, was met by a puch from Howard, the punch was mis-cued and went into the path of Andy Reid, who drove the ball into the empty net. Everton pushed for an equaliser, and eventually made Sunderland crack as Carlos Edwards was sent off, only 20 minutes after coming on. His last man tackle on Tinkler was given a straight red card as Tinkler fell to the ground. It looked like it was going to end 2 - 2, but with 3 minutes to go, Yakubu secured the win and his hat-trick. He turned Danny Collins just outside the area, before bending a shot into the bottom corner. Alan Stubbs couldn't believe his side had done it.

+ Everton Goals: Yakubu 8', 58', 87'.
+ Sunderland Goals: Dean Whitehead 63', Andy Reid 73'

+ Everton Bookings: Phil Jagielka 21', Yakubu 33'
+ Sunderland Bookings: Dean Whitehead 1', Djibril Cisse 6'; Carlos Edwards 78'

+ Everton Injuries: None
+ Sunderland Injuries: El-Hadji Diouf 45'

+ Everton Subs: Jose Baxter on for Yakubu 90'
+ Sunderland Subs: Carlos Edwards on for Steed Malbranque 58', Marcos Senna on for Nyron Nosworthy 78'

+ Man of the Match: Yakubu 9/10

Transfer News

READING HAVE REJECTED EVERTON'S OFFER OF A LOAN DEAL FOR STEPHEN HUNT

Stephen Hunt is staying at Reading for now as they have rejected a loan deal from Everton. Everton offered a salary of £13,500 for him, but Reading turned down the deal. David Moyes had this to say, "I think he is a brillaint footballer and very nice man, and I would love to sign him, but If the money isn't right, then it will get rejected"

David Moyes has also turned down the speculation of him signing Andrey Shevchenko, Moyes said "He is a superb footballing icon, but he is not in my transfer plan and never will be".

Joe Cole has signed for a club called Mantova after his injuries and bans cost him a Chelsea start. Cole said "I loved every minute of my Chelsea career, but my time was up and Mantova payed good money for me, I'm happy here". Luis Felipe Scolari said this about Cole, "Cole is an amazing lad, he can play on the left wing, on the right wing, and even behind the strikers, I wish him the best at his new club". Chelsea also denied wanting Eto'o and wouldn't talk about these 'lies'

Ronaldinho has ended his AC Milan career by signing for Sporting Lisbon. He went on a deal meant to be worth £21 million and at the press conference in Lisbon, he said it is fantastic to be at one of the best clubs in Europe, playing with the Next Generation stars.

CESC FABREGAS HAS BEEN PLACED ON THE TRANSFER MARKET BY ARSENAL. THE ASKING PRICE IS £23 MILLION

Cesc Fabregas could be on his way out of Arsenal after he was placed on The transfer market with a price tag of £23,000,000. Barcelona, Real Madrid and Benfica are supposed to be interested in the Arsenal midfielder who said this "I don't know why Arsenal have put me on the transfer market, I do everything they tell me and Wenger told me last week that I won't be leaving, and now I'm in this situation, I don't know who to turn to".

Eric Abidal has also been placed on the window for insulting the Barcelona manager. Abidal said that Josep Guardiola didn't know what he was doing when Barcelona lost 3 - 1 to Numancia. Abidal has been fined and banned from training and wanted a move anyway

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THIAGO NEVES IS NOW A FREE AGENT AFTER HAMBURGER RELEASED HIM

Thiago Neves has been released by Hamburger after not signing a new contract. He didn't sign a contract because he heard AC Milan wanted him, Milan have denied this, and he is currently a free agent. Everton, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Wigan are linked with the Brazilian attacking midfielder, who turned 24 years old last month

Juninho has been rumored to be in talks with Arsenal after being placed on the transfer market in midweek. Juninho told Lyon that French Football was too easy and he wanted more of a challenge, so Lyon placed him on the transfer market with a price tag of £2.8 million

Everton have signed the young talented footballer Danny Tinkler from Flamengo. Tinkler had a work permit turned down, but then it was given to him two weeks later. Tinkler had this to say "It is brilliant to come to a club as good as Everton, I can't wait to make my first start and to wear the shirt". Danny Tinkler has been given a shirt number, which many good footballers have been given, the Number 39.

Everton have also loaned out 12 people this week, including Andy Van der Meyde, James Vaughn, John Kissock and John Ruddy. These will return at the end of the season. Danny Gosling, Jose Baxter and Victor Anichebe have not been loaned out yet.

CRAIG GORDON HAS BEEN SOLD BY SUNDERLAND TO SWEDISH TEAM DJURGARDEN

Djurgarden have signed Sunderland Keeper Craig Gordon for £3.4 million. The Sunderland keeper was included in the team of the year, but he was interested in a move away from Wearside because Djurgarden offered twice his salary. He is now getting paid £42,000 per week instead of his £21,000 he was getting at Sunderland. Martin Fulop is Sunderland's 1st choice keeper now, and will start against Everton this week.

PHILLIP NEVILLE HAS HANDED IN A TRANSFER REQUEST

Everton skipper Phil Neville has handed in a transfer request after being told he was 'past his best' by Everton manager David Moyes. Neville was left out of the 8 - 2 win over Hull City and is also starting on the bench against Sunderland. Wigan, West Ham and Blackpool are interested in the Defencive Midfielder and a deal is set to take place this week. Mikel Arteta will captain the side in Neville's absence.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cesc Fabregas has signed for FC Basel for £27.5 million, The deal went through on Wednesday and has now been completed. Fabregas is happy with a move away from the Emirates, but said it was a great place to build his career. Fabregas said "I wanted to move away from Arsenal because I am not sure I can trust them, I think they only wanted to sell me for the money, now they have what they wanted, and I have what I wanted"

Phil Neville has signed for Arsenal for £950,000. Wenger was looking for a cheap midfielder on short notice after selling Fabregas and is please with the signing, "I think Neville is an outstanding player, he can play in defence or midfield and will be very useful in our title challenge this year". Neville also had this to say on the move away from Merseyside, "I've played in Manchester, and been dropped, I've played in Liverpool, and been dropped, I hope London won't be as harsh on me".

Everton have signed Thiago Neves after he was a free agent for less than a week. Neves has been given the No. 40 shirt and will start his first game for the Blues against Arsenal this weekend. Neves was released by Hamburger and is looking forward to the Premiership. Stubbs said this "I think Neves is a great player and will work well in my plans. I hope he acomplishes what he wants at this club"

Wayne Bridge has signed for Inter Milan after being told he wasn't in Scolar's Chelsea plans. He signed on a 4 year deal for an estimated £2 million

Everton have got their man

At the press conference today, Everton announced they have official hired Kevin Keegan as their new manager. Keegan is appointed after the sacking of David Moyes two weeks ago. Our Sky Sports Presenter, Dan Broad managed to cath up with Keegan, who had this to say, "Everton is a massive club and I have always had the highest regards for them whilst I was manager for Manchester City and Newcaslte. The people at this club are both friendly and passionate, and I will be looking to make a positive impact during my time here". Keegan's frist game in charge will be at the Emirates when Everton take on Arsenal. Keegan was job-less after Mike Ashely, Newcastle owner, fired Keegan after Keegan criticised Ashley for not letting him have control. The Caretaker manager, Alan Stubbs has also signed a new contract, to keep him on the staff until 2012. Stubbs said, "Since I was a lad, all I wanted to do was be involved with Everton, and I am glad the Owners offered me a new contract. Kevin was allowed to choose his own assistant and was keen to work with Terry McDermott again after helping Keegan during both spells at Newcastle. McDermott has left his Huddersfield job to come to Everton
