SMALL WIN GOOD ENOUGH FOR MOYES ![]() Everton beat West Ham 1 - 0 in a very slow and quiet game which sees Everton push for their first Barclays Premier League Title. The first piece of action was Joleon Lescott's booking which could of easily been a red. He went in two footed with his studs showing, but Valeron Behrami managed to dodge out of the way. The only good chance in the first half was on the Half-Time whistle when Louis Saha was played through by Tim Cahill, the French striker battled with Matthew Upson and unleashed a dealy shot, Robert Green dived superbly and managed to tip it onto the top of the bar and out for a corner. West Ham were brillaint at defending Everton's deadly set-pieces and Everton failed to get any good chances from corners and free-kicks. The second half started with Marouane Fellaini getting booked for the worst tackle I have ever seen, It was late, it was high, his studs were showing and it caught him on the knee. Valeron Behrami was lucky to be on the pitch after Lescott's tackle, and he was lucky not to be in hospital after Fellaini's. Everton got the winning goal after 55 minutes when Louis Saha played a through ball out to Arteta, Lucas Neill streched for it, but just made it worse as the ball went towards goal, Arteta changed the angle of his run and placed it through the legs of England keeper Robert Green. Gianfranco Zola was furious as he believed Arteta was offside, replays show he was onside and Zola was sent to the stands. Matthew Upson was then booked for a challenge on Yakubu. Arteta then had a chance to make it 2 - 0 with a free-kick, but this time, the free-kick hit the base of the post, before bouncing into the six yard box where Lucas Neill cleared the danger. Luis Boa Morte and Danny Gabbidon came on, but couldn't find and equaliser. West Ham's best chance came in the 74th minute, when Dean Ashton's header was saved by Amelia, who had a very comfortable day. Robert Green was the man to thank, as he saved West Ham an embarressing defeat with the save of the season. Arteta's low cross found the right foot of Fellaini, who was 3 yards out, Green dived forward, but didn't get the ball, Fellaini's shot hit Green in the chest, before going wide. Goals Mikel Arteta 55' Bookings Joleon Lescott 2' Marouane Fellaini 51' Matthew Upson 64' Injuries None. Subsitutions Luis Boa Morte on for Matthew Etherington Danny Gabbidon on for Calum Davenport Man of the Match Robert Green 9/10

Everton boss David Moyes said that despite the strikers get the headlines for their goals, the defenders will get as much credit for not conceding goals and for their tackles and blocks which has stopped teams scoring so they can go on and win. Phil Jagielka will look to keep Peter Crouch under control on the ground, but he has to watch the big man in the air. Prediction Everton 2 - 1 Portsmouth

How was this only 0 - 0? ![]() Everton and Portsmouth both got a point in a very fustrating afternoon of football. Everton hit the woodwork 3 times and Portsmouth twice as the game ended 0-0 with both managers pleased at a point. Marouane Fellaini was booked in the 3rd minute for another rash challenge, this time on Lassana Diarra who was not impressed with the challenge and raised his point by shoving the Belgian midfielder. However, Diarra wasn't booked for his actions. Everton then had a good chance to take the lead as Sol Campbell fouled Louis Saha just outside the area. He was given a yellow card, and Arteta was given a shot at goal. Arteta curled the ball around the wall of 4, but the ball struck the bar in a superb effort. Portsmouth fans were then left thinking if God really hated them as Peter Crouch's header hit the bar, Yobo cleared off the line, but the ball struck Utaka and went towards goal, Amelia tipped Utaka's block wide of the post and out for a corner. Tony Adams and the entire Portsmouth bench just found it funny though. Phil Jagielka was given a yellow card for a foul on Peter Crouch. The free-kick from Kranjcar hit the wall, but the rebound went sailing towards goal, but a superb diving stop from Amelia stopped the ball from going in, and steered the ball onto the post. At the other end, Louis Saha's header hit the bar from a Mikel Arteta cross, and Sol Campbell managed to clear before Yakubu scored. Then the moment of the Match, A cross from Pienaar is deflected behind Louis Saha, but Yakubu is there, Yakubu tries an acrobatic over-head kick, which beats David James, and hits the post, It then rolls across the goal-line and is cleared by Distin. Kanu and Davis were brought on to try and get a winner, but the score remained 0 - 0. Everton got a corner in the last minute, but Louis Saha went down with an injury and was replaced by Briand. Briand's first touch of the game almost saw a goal, but his volley just missed the post. Goals
None. Bookings Marouane Fellaini 3' Sol Campbell 7' Phil Jagielka 48' Nadir Belhadj 74' Injuries Louis Saha 90' Substitutions Nawenko Kanu on for Papa Bouma Diop 64' Sean Davis on for John Utaka 64' Jimmy Briand on for Louis Saha 90' Man of the Match Marco Amelia 8/10
