Everton shell-shocked ![]() Manchester City snatched a 1 - 0 victory over Everton, who had dominated the match. Everton created most of the chances and had 60% of the possession but Manchester City took all three points, which puts them 3 points behind Everton. Well, the Toffee's had the better of the chances in the first half as Mikel Arteta hit the post and Leon Osman's curling shot was saved by Joe Hart. Manchester City's best chance of the first half was Jo, who went past Leighton Baines and shot into the side-netting. As Half-Time came, Everton were awarded a free-kick for a push in the back by Micah Richards, The lay-off man was called and Leighton Baines stood away from the ball, seeing where he could shoot the ball clearly. Cahill rolled it into his path and he shot through the wall, it looked like it was going in and Joe Hart was beaten, but it rattled the crossbar and bounced up into the air, where Hart claimed the ball.
The second half brought much more of a storyline as Manchester City started to fight back against the league leaders and Petrov almost capitolized on a Baines error, but Petrov's pace didn't beat Phil Neville's sliding challenge. Mark Halsey handed out 7 yellow cards in the match which the FA demeed to be inopropriate behavior. As the game drew to a close, Everton seemed to turn off and get sloppy, Man City saw this and immediately took action and in the Final minute got there goal as Elano played a one-two with Jo and then pushed the ball past Tim Howard. Everton Manager David Moyes had this to say "We will be training hard for Chelsea next week, but the mid-week match where we needed to play Extra-Time did no good for our energy today, Joleon and Jack will be back and are likely to play a part in the game, but today was rather dissapointing that we didn't get a point" Goals: Elano 90' Man of the Match: Jo
