- Tony was born in Ronford, He signed for Arsenal in 1980. He made his first team debut on 5 November 1983 against Sunderland. He became a first team player in 1985, he won his first trophy in the football league cup final win over Liverpool.

- Adams made his debut for England in 1987, he also played in Euro 88. He had a lot of injuries in the 1990’s that set him back.

- Adams became manager of Wycombe in November 2003. He was unable to keep the team from relegation. Adams joined Portsmouth as assistant manager to Harry Redknapp. His first season, the team finished 9th in the league. They also won the 2007-08 FA Cup. When Harry Redknapp left the club he was appointed the manager.

Secure Job for Adams

After Harry Redknapp left for Tottenham Hotspurs, there have been rumours to would have taken over. To the surprise of many T.V pundits, assistant manager Tony Adams took over from Redknapp. A few days have passed and seeminly Adams future as manager is secure.

Tony Adams had an interview with a local newspaper this is how it went.

" Its a great honour for me to become manager of this club, I have been here as assistant manager and have got to know a lot about the players. All my thanks go to the chairman who had faith in my management skills. I hope I can take this club as far as I can. Remember I'am still new to the managerial scene."

When asked about any transfers:

" We have a very good squad but every team needs players. So, we will be signing at least one player if not more."

So, Portsmouth new manager has got the backing of the board and the fans. We'll have to wait until the start of the season to find out if the teams anygood.
