![]() Last week we caught up with some talents from Udinese Calcio to talk about the new Serie A season ahead Reporter: Good morning, gentlemen. Is is our pleasure to have you here today. First of all, what are your ambitions for the season? Antonio Di Natale: Well, I want to get Udinese into the top 4, but there is so many good teams in this league so it will be a hard battle but I believe we can do it. Fabio Quagliarella: I want Udinese to become champions and I want to be top scorer in Serie A! Christian Zapata: Well I want Udinese to have the best defence in the league and keep a lot of clean sheets, but I also want to try my hardest at all times, and maybe chip in with a few goals. R: Who do you think will finish top of Serie A this season? ADN: Inter Milan, because they have a great squad, and they will be tough to beat. FQ: Us, because we have the best teamwork in the Serie A! CZ: I would like to say Udinese, but I think AC Milan will win Serie A this season, they have Kaka, Ronaldinho, Pirlo, Shevchenko and Nesta. They have the ultimate team. R: And our final question, What do you think of Manager Pasquale Marino? ADN: He is a great manager IMO, and he will do well this season FQ: To be honest, he is the main reason we played well last year, and he can lead us to the same acheivments this year, only higher! CZ: He is one if the best young managers at the moment in Italy, and we are very privileged to have him. His tactics suit our players, and he has got the very best out of us. |

![]() 3 IN, AND 2 OUT AT UDINESE CALCIO ![]() German Lux was one of three players to be signed by Udinese Calcio this summer so far. The Argentinian goalkeeper, who played for Real Mallorca, signed for Udinese for about £2,100,000. Another signing was Miguel Vitor, who was a free agent, after he was released by Benfica earlier in the summer. Vitor is described as a wonderkid for the future, and will make a great pairing with fellow young gun Cristian Zapata. The final signing is Dusan Svento. Svento is a Czech left-winger, signed from Sparta Prague for £3,000,000. The Bianconeri sold two players, Sala and Belardi. Belardi, a 30 year old keeper, has been sold to Empoli for £350,000 and centre-back Sala has been sold for £350,000 to Livorno. BREAKING NEWS: Udinese have added 3 young free agents to their squad, centre-back Mamadou Sakho, centre-midfielder Stelvio and striker Jose Baxter Last edited by B.Jacko; 26-11-2008 at 10:08 PM.. |

![]() BIANCONERI SINK IN OPENING GAME ![]() Udinese crashed to an opening day defeat at the hands of Bologna yesterday, and manager Pasquale Morino said they were not prepared for such a backlash in their 3-0 defeat. Udinese were on top for the first 19 minutes. Two close efforts, one an Antonio Di Natale 25 yard effort and an Odion Ighalo header which hit the bar, were the only strong points about a weak Udinese team. And on the 19th minute, Adailton slid the ball into the bottom corner after a through ball from skipper Marazzini. They extended the lead to 2-0 on 26 minutes. Marco Di Vaio broke through the defence and smashed the ball in from 15 yards. Di Vaio made it 3-0 on the stroke if half-time, capitalising on a mistake by Cristian Zapata, and then the former Italian international rounded Samir Handanovic and tapped the ball into the empty net. And Di Vaio nearly netted his hat-trick, when Volpi played a nice through-ball to him, but he couldn't make the finish count. Udinese almost got a consolation, though, as Di Natale struck a free-kick from 25 yards over the wall, but straight into the keeper's hands. Morino later stated that his players were tired, and not wary of the atticking threat that Bologna posed. He also said that he didn't stick to his match-winning tactics he used for most of last season, but you can't give excuses, it was a poor result for Udinese. Handanovic 3, Nef 8, Zapata 7, Felipe 8, Lukovic 8, Inler 7, Obodo 7, Tissone 8, Di Natale 8, Ighalo 8, Quagliarella 8, |

![]() UDINESE PUT DOWN BY CORRADI AND REGGINA ![]() Udinese lost for the second time on the trot against Reggina, but really should have won the game, having 10 shots on target, but only scoring one. The game ended 2-1 And if it wasn't for Reggina hitman Bernardo Corradi, they would have been beaten before half-time. Corradi delt with some sloppy Udinese defending and beat 3 defenders, before finishing it past the keeper from 12 yards. Udinese's young striker Odion Ighalo ran on goal, but took a touch too far, and his shot was well saved by the keeper. Reggina missed a sitter as well on 36 minutes. Brienza ran on goal, but his shot from 6 yards out went over the bar. On the stroke of half-time, Udinese playmaker Gokhan Inler shot wide from 25 yards. 11 minutes after the break, Ighalo chested down a long free-kick from Felipe, as he broke away from the last defender. But his shot almost went out of the stand. Almost 3 minutes later, Corradi made it 2-0 with a long shot, which sailed into the top corner. Di Natale silkily dribbled the ball into the box, but from 12 yards, he hit a shot horribly wide. But Udinese did get a consilation goal, Ighalo made a surging run into the box, and rounded the keeper and alked the ball into the net After the match, Pasquale Morino, the Udinese manager said, "That was another terrible performance by the team. I may have to start changing a few players about. They need to get there act together fast, very fast. As for the game, we dominated from start to finish, but Corradi was lethal and we payed the price for some sloppy defending. Lux 6, Nef 7, Zapata 5, Felipe 4 (Sakho 5), Lukovic 7, Pepe 6, Obodo 7, Tissone 6, Inler 7 (Svento 6), Di Natale 7 (Baxter 6), Ighalo 8 MOTM - Odion Ighalo had a good game, he missed a few sitters but score Udinese's goal and deserved it. |
