Or have you forgotten the 2004/05 semi-final?

Why do you have Michael Essien as number 4 when you make your formations?

just a mistake mate. I know he's 5. Next time I do a formation it will have him as #5. Thanks I didn't notice that. By the way when did I say Anelka was 35?

Qualifying for the Champions League has begun with the 64 teams entered this year. Chelsea will look to get off to a good start. After the match report on Chelsea we will show you the scores from the teams in Chelsea's group and some notable matches played among other groups.

vs

Starting Lineups:

Chelsea
--Cech--
-A.Cole--Alex--Terry--Bosingwa-
-Essien-
-Lampard--Benzema-
-Malouda--Drogba--J.Cole-

Olympiacos
-Nikpolidis-
--Leonardo--Papadopolous--Antzas--Torosides--
--Belluschi--Djordvevic--Galletti--Cearense--
Diogo--Kovacevic
(sorry if I spelt some names wrong, I got them the best I could)
Match Report: An interesting match would pursue as Chelsea hope to start off their qualifying group with a bang after a terrific win against Liverpool with a Frank Lampard brace that game. Also Drogba is in the starting eleven for this match after Scolari was unhappy with Anelka's performance after his goal against Liverpool.

First Half:

Chelsea starts off with the ball passing it around moving up the field.

Soon after Lampard had a shot which went over the bar for a goal kick. Chelsea is looking to start off early like they did against Liverpool.

Olympiakos are having none of it as they attack this time. A ball got crossed into the box and Kovacevic scores a goal for Olympiakos putting them ahead 1-0 7 minutes in.

Chelsea looked very angry with themselves having let Olympiakos take advantage so quickly. Scolari was livid on the sideline.

For some time play went back and forth as both teams battled to get a goal. Chelsea looked the better side but then again:

Alex slide tackled a player getting a yellow card outside the box. As the free kick was taken Cech got a hand to it nudging the ball over the bar! Very close to a second goal for Olympiakos.

The corner was wasted on Olympiakos' part as Chelsea counter attacked. Drogba found space as Deco swung the ball to him. Didier Drogba got the ball to Benzema miraculously and Karim took a shot. GOAL! Chelsea tied the game up at the 38th minute of play. The fans went wind at Stamford Bridge nearly 42,000 sound strong cheering.

After the restart by Olympiakos, Chelsea won the ball back. As they built up another lay this time it ended unfortunately for the Blues as a Benzema shot deflected off a defender and Drogba was immediatly called offside right before halftime.

Halftime Score: Chelsea 1 Olympiakos 1

Second Half:

Right off the restart Chelsea won the ball and Lampard hit a through ball to Drogba who was called off. All of the players in blue hand their hands raised after an atrocious call by the referee. Scolari could be seen on the sideline heatedly talking with the 4th official.

For nearly 20 minutes as action went back and forth Scolari didn't make any changes. He finally opted to bring on Anelka for Drogba in the 73rd minute. After having waited for sometime to get on could Anelka make a difference in the match?

4 minutes later that question would be answered as Anelka buried the ball into the net after another terrific Chelsea build up.

Nearing the end of the match Benzema passed the ball to Anelka who proceeded to break through the defense and finish off Olympiakos with a great shot to score and secure Chelsea victory 3-1 in the 86th minute. Nicolas Anelka had only played for 13 minutes and he had 2 goals!

Final Scoreline: Chelsea 3 Olympiakos 1

Match Facts
Chelsea-Olympiakos
10 (5)-Shots (on target)-4 (2)
1-Bookings-0
1-Corners-1
59%-Possesion-41%
89%-Passing-81%

Man of the Match
Karim Benzema
Goals: 1
Scolari Comments: After a terrific performance by Karim I am very happy. Although Anelka had 2 goals in 13 minutes I prefer to give the award to someone who plays the whole game or nearly all of it. Karim today for us played excellent getting into every attack and scoring a goal. He helped the two Nicolas Anelka goals by passing the ball being very unselfish but I also have to commend the other players for getting the ball to Karim and keeping their heads up after we went down 1-0 early on. There are several things all of our players can improve on. Today Karim’s passing was on the mark with our overall team going 89% pass success rate. So I now award Karim with his second Man of the Match award this year.

Hello there I'm Andy Gray reporting after Chelsea beat Olympiakos in their first match for UEFA Champions League Qualifying Rounds. First off UEFA have announced they will have all the qualifying matches mid-week while clubs do not have any cups going on in their respective countries. They also announced qualifying would be over by January and because January is usually packed with cup/league games are to give the clubs rest that month and then return with the Champions League and UEFA Cup in February.
Other Games in Chelsea's Group
Galatasaray 1-0 Basel
Sampdoria 2-2 Schalke 04
Bayer Leverkusen 1-0 Juventus
So as it stands this is the group's table so far.

1. Chelsea- Points 3 Goal Difference 2
2. Bayer Levekusen- Points 3 Goal Difference 1
Galatasaray- Points 3 Goal Difference 1
4. Sampdoria- Points 1 Goal Difference 0
Schalke 04- Points 1 Goal Difference 0
6. Basel- Points 0 Goal Difference -1
Juventus- Points 0 Goal Difference -1
8. Olympiakos- Points 0 Goal Difference -2

Other notable fixtures today included these:
Manchester City 0-0 Paris SG
Deportivo 2-0 Ajax

Chelsea's next match is against Manchester City in the Premier League, their following match is against Basel for the UEFA Qualifying Rounds. The calendar will be released soon.

Great win, but it's only Olympiacos. Don't try to be unselfish with Benzema, let him score his goals.

Great win mate, nice detail too!

your next month looks pretty good but may i say watch out for the hammers, and Galatasaray are known to be quite dangerous at away matches.

but nice updates lad cant wait for more!

wow that's very weird of you to say the Hammers and Galatasaray are going to be difficult, it's like you saw my notes already, or am I tricking you? Thanks by the way.

Well they did kill a couple of Leeds fans in a European match, so that is why Leeds fans were mad at Kewell for going there, as he was part of the team that went when that happened...

Galatasaray are a great club, I really like them. Better than their rival scumbags Fenerbahce In my opinion, Turkish fans are the best in the world without a doubt
