Scolari Talks Transfers with Chelsea TV

Andy Gray: Hello there! I'm Andy Gray here with Chelsea manager Luis Felipe Scolari, thanks for coming on Mr.Scolari

Scolari: Thank you to, call me Phil if you like.

Andy Gray: Ok Phil, after today's win how do you feel you will prepare your players for Newcastle on the first of November who are currently on a very nice streak in 4th place only 3 points behind you.

Scolari: We have to mix up practice you know? People saw a bit of complacency in us today so we will train a bit differently.

Andy: Since Drogba has scored 2 goals in 2 games including a 90th minute winner against Galatasaray mid week how are you going to choose for the match against Newcastle?

Scolari: I am not sure. Both are great strikers and maybe whoever performs better during practice wins the starting spot, yes?

Andy: Ok on a different topic, Phil you already have spoken of some possible targets in January have you changed your mind about any of them?

Scolari: It seems as though Alex Ferguson will be unwilling to let go of Possebon but Rafael is a bit different. He is at a club that have placed high expectations on him and has already said he is unhappy with his lack of playing time. If we do sign him don't be surprised to see him be loaned out quickly afterwards so he can get first team experience.

Andy: If you do not sign Rafael are there other wing backs you may target given that the Chelsea board gives you money to use?

Scolari: There are quite a number of players we are looking into. We are assessing all of our options carefully looking towards the future for the club. Some people have linked us with Insua of Liverpool a developing left wing back and Drenthe from Real Madrid. Both players are talented young footballers.

Andy: Thank you for sharing this information with the fans but let's continue on beside defenders is there are people you have in mind to sign in January?

Scolari: Not at the moment although scouts have come to me with good reports on several other youth players.

Andy: Can you name any of them?

Scolari: As a matter of fact yes. Yet another winger by the name of Ninis who plays for Panathinaikos although I am happy with the position we are at with our wingers. If some midfield or forward players of ours are still injured or we have injuries I will ask the board for more cash to sign an extra player or two.

Andy: There are rumors Ricardo Carvolho and Didier Drogba will leave in January what can you say about this?

Scolari: Neither of these players has come to me asking to be sold and I hope they both stay with us as they are key parts to our team. Although both have had problems breaking into the starting lineup I understand how the media can twist things into something like this.

Andy: Rumors persist you may persue Arjen Robben a former Chelsea player now at Real Madrid what can you tell us of this?

Scolari: Robben is a very decent player who may pop-up in the news in January. The only thing I don not like about him is his injuries.

Andy: Ok thank you for your time to come chat with us we'll be delighted to see you again soon!

Scolari: I hope I will be back on the show with a clearer picture of January in December probably! Good bye.

Insua (Liverpool) Left Wing Back

Drenthe (Real Madrid) Right Wing Back

Arjen Robben (Real Madrid) ex-Chelsea player Left Winger Mid. On Scolari's wish list?

nice targets. Drenthe would be a great replacement for Cole/Bridge at the left back spot.

Great report.. Insua would be a little unrealistic though.. I doubt we'd sell to Chelsea..

But Drenthe would be a great signing, maybe Marcelo?..

Chelsea's November Calendar

November 1st- Matchday #12 of the Premier League
Chelsea vs Newcastle at Stamford Bridge

**November 4th- Carling Cup 4th Round**
Chelsea vs Burnley at
(didn't write down where this one is at, will check it)

***November 8th- Matchday #13 of the Premier League***
Chelsea vs Manchester United at Old Trafford

***November 11th- UEFA Champions League Qualifying***
Chelsea vs Juventus at Stadio Olimpico

***November 15th- Matchday #14 of the Premier League***
Chelsea vs Arsenal at Stamford Bridge (Rivalry)

**November 19th- UEFA Champions League Qualifying**
Chelsea vs Schalke 04 at Stamford Bridge

*November 22nd- Matchday #15 of the Premier League*
Chelsea vs Fulham at Craven Cottage (Rivalry)

November 29th- Matchday #13 of the Premier League
Chelsea vs Sunderland

***- Very important match
**- Semi Important
*- Important
This month will show if Chelsea are destined to be Premier League champions with several tough games. The 3 tough games that could show what champions are made of come in the span of 7 days when Chelsea will face Manchester United then Juventus then Arsenal. If Chelsea can get by Arsenal and Manchester United unscathed they should definitely be considered as having the biggest chance at the title this season. Facing off with Juventus will prove they should be one of the top favorites for the UEFA Champions League as most say they are sure to qualify.
