Cranky Frank leaves Lang Park

Frank Farina today refused to comment

Coach of two seasons, and former Australian soccer golden boy Frank Farina has left Queensland Roar on what are beleived to be 'mutual conditions'.

It is beleived to be not to be due to a lack of results in prior seasons, but a lack of financial backing for his marquee and youth marquee signings.

There are many rumours of past players taking over the new vacated role. The top of the list is that of former coach and supposed Gold Coast United coach Miron Bleiberg. This is due to the fact that his team was left out of FIFA reccomendations as a controllable team in 2009.

Other possible names as new coaches include former Socceroos Mark Brusasco and Craig Johnston. Others have speculated the possibility of having capatin Craig Moore take on a 'coach captain' role.

Only time will tell of the new coach.

Thanks. The A-League finally gets some much needed exposure.

Wonder why there's been a lack so far?!

Gets boring after a while, as there's no champions league to get into and no players want to join you, and you usually start dominating the league quickly

Roar Unveal
Top Kop Coach

Craig Johnston today

Queensland Roar have annouced that Craig Johnston is set to become the new coach.

Earlier today Queensland Roar officials named the former Liverpool legend Craig Johnston to fulfill the job last filled by Frank Farina.Craig is famous as a player, scoring the winning goal against rival Everton in the 1986 FA Cup final. "This will be a big challenge for me as a person to perform well for all the Roar Fans", Craig stated in his opening conference.

This will be his first managerial position of a professional club, after securing several UEFA coaching licenses while back in Europe.

Miron Bleiberg has been named as assistant coach to Craig and will 'guide' Mr Jonhston should the need arise. Miron has told Fox Sports that the team will begin a transitional stage now, with many players coming in and out of the club before the 2008/09 season begins in a few months. "Expect to find us in Asia as we find the best ways to make this club excel," the normally outspoken man claimed.

A possible Asian Tour? Stay Tuned to find out!

This is where i will be really trying to better the predesessors (including my prior failed attempt) there will be friendlies, a Champions League with the teams available as well as beleivable transfers/results.

We might even get a result at Home.

FIFA Dissolves Champion League
Nations

The FIFA governing body has banned several star countries from particapation following the Chinese Match Fixing Scandals that threatens to turn Asian Football on its head.

In a shocking move all teams from the nations in question; China; Japan; Thailand and Saudi Arabia from particapation in the official Champions League of Asia until 2010.
Head of AFC Mohammed
Bin Hammam has stated that "today is an outrage in world football and FIFA has made a large mistake in punishing an 'apocolyptic' sentence on so many nations".

Sepp Blater has remained attament that the 2008 installment of the tournament will continue as planned, with several new teams to set to be called up for the event which yields a winning prize of just over $20,000,000 AUS.

In all the unsettlment however there is some positive outcomes, as news is that the top 6 teams from last seasons A-League will be particapating, to fill the void left by the roughly 20 Japanese/Chinese/Arabian places.

The entire K-League will also feature to even the number out.

A-League Teams:
Central Coast Mariners
Newcastle Jets
Sydney FC
*Queensland Roar*
Melbourne Victory
Adelaide United.

Craig: "Champions Cup Could Catapult Queensland"

For the first time since FIFA's shock exclusion of several major countries from the 2008 AFC Champions League, QLD Roar coach Craig Johnston is adament that his team 'relishes the chance to play Asia' however 'will treat every game with the 'competetency of any international club match'.

Captain Craig Moore has publicly welcomed Sepp Blatters decision saying "Before the game can go forward in Asia it must be pulled into line. Once the match fixing probe has finished (only) then it will be a time to celebrate."

In other news Perth Glory has lauched a scathing attack on FIFA asking for a 'please explain' as to why their team hasn't been included. "It just aint fair", a frustrated David Mitchell.
