![]() Paul Tisdale Resigned, 15 year contract Paul Tisdale has recently signed a contract with the Board of Directors at The Grecians for a 15 year contract as manager. This is a rather ambitious decision by the board after the team was promoted to Coca Cola League 2 in a Playoff Final that only narrowly defeated Cambridge United 1-0. Reporter Don Dale had a chance to interview Paul about his long future plans for the club. Dale: Welcome to the big leagues Tisdale! Now that you are aware of your future job with The Grecians what are your immediate and future plans? Tisdale: Well I plan to take this team to the top! One day this club will become the English Premier League Champions. Dale: You really think you can do that in 15 years from now? Tisdale: Yeah, or maybe even less. This club has a name to be remembered and this season will be our first step when we take our first League Title. Dale: You have a 100 year history background yet you have no successful achievements ony honours. Is the future of Tisdale to regain a rivalry with Plymouth Argyle? Tisdale: It wont be long before we return for a showdown against our rivals again... FA Cup Dale: It would be quite astonishing if you made the 3rd Round this year in the FA Cup after your long record of 1st round failures. Later On Tisdale went on to say his team will remain the same for now with fresh scouted players on the look out around Brazil. Tisdale: If you look at Hull City you'll no that a team can have great success with a brazilian attack. Dale: What about your Defence? Tisdale: We're on the look out for a young goalkeeper in the transfer market aswell but our main priority is attack! Dale: Well, thanks and good luck in the upcoming season. Have a great day. Tisdale: Thanks. |

Season Opener ![]() Positioning gained nicely for Accrington Stanley FC Accrington Stanley F.C. | 3 - 2 | Exeter City F.C. Exeter City roared at there tv screens last night as their weekend season opener was ruined by Marriot. The game opened with an aggressive attack at Accrington's home ground. The Grecians came out attacking down the flanks with huge shots and opening breaks from through passes. But suddenly the defence got caught through the breaks and there was no stopping Procter. A One on One situation arose in the 15th minute and Marriot was left way out of position with an easy slot passed shot for Accrington. The second goal arose on yet another break with defenders unable to catch Miles. Marriot came out to early and was shot past to score 2 goals before the half by Accrington. Exeter came out afterwards attacking with a more intelligent arsenal of shots. This time on the breaks Exeter prepared for a chip which flew over the goalkeepers fingers and slotted into the bottom right hand corner. It wasnt to long after until Accrington replied a goal with a devastating save by Marriot who once again was out of position! The final minute of the game saw a final hope for Stewart to bring Exeter back as he chipped past another goal on the final break. Seconds after the goal the game was closed to an end with the score at 3-2. Stewart: Well we had unfortunate luck today because our forwards had a number of opportunities that couldnt be finished. Perhaps it was our lack of off season game practice however this is a new league and now that we are aware of the competition we need to defend and prepare much better next match. Interviewer: Do you blame your goalkeeper today for your loss? Stewart: No, I blame myself actually because I dont worry about his job I concentrate on my own and playing my best. Today I just didnt play 100%, there was little luck on my side and I shot a lot of screamers that went way off target. Interviewer: Thanks. |

Week 2 ![]() Double Hattrick in the 2nd Match Darlington | 1 - 6 | Exeter City F.C. This week the boys went away determined to get a result after last weeks upset. A few supporters arrived this week in Darlington after the long travels across the country. They did not want to be disappointed and the team showed there rage. It took 9 mins but Stewart showed he was in his match form this week as he did his famous chip on the break into the far right corner. 3 mins later and we had another almost identical placement to the last. The match was being counter attacked by Darlington down the center however this week And Marriot turned on his A game and saves some miraculous shots. A freakish shot from Stansfield rebounded of the upright into Stewarts feet as he slotted into the goal with no pressure. Hattrick and matchball to Stewart for the second week it seemed however Stansfield wanted to prove why they made him the striker. The Second half begun and 3 mins in we had a cracker running down the left and smashing hard and low inside the keepers hands and post. The match remained fairly even for awhile however this was overturned by Hatch who shot a blister from outside the box. Finally Darlington had grabbed one back bu Stansfield said he was aiming for 7. So away he went two minutes later with a beautiful set up pass from Stewart to open up the goal and lead margin. Darlington held tough not breaking down to the the loud away supporters in the crowd. Finally with 5 mins before the end Stansfield snatched another to crush Darlington in embarassment. With 6 goals in total Exeter City decided to lay back until the final wistle and the away fans roared with most of the home fans gone from embarassment. Whos was better today yours or Stewarts? Adam: Is that a joke? Well mine obviously because I got Man of the Match duh! However I could never have got the hattrick if it wont for Stewarts lay offs. Stewart got his all on his own. Interviewer: Yes, Stewart is a great leader with a lot of knowledge for the forwards. Do you look up to Stewart for improvements and advice? Adam: We are grown men, yes I do look at him and wonder how he copes with certain match situations, and he asks me the same sometimes aswell. We both look out for each other like buddies and that is why worked better today. Our whole team has a wealth of Chemistry and Paul gives us encouragement to welcome newbies. The whole team brings passes together that is our technique and there is few out there that can stop a quick passing game. Interviewer: Well goodluck, it seems you and Stewart maybe chasing each other for Top Goal Scorrer this year! |

Bus Advertisement Support ![]() We cant have our League 2 squad travelling around like this... This week the board directors agreed to provide a new paint job after the tea complained of embarassment travelling home from Darlington. "Darlington had a Royal Coach bus with advertisements and flames over the tires," said Stansfield after he arrived home for interviews. "Im not saying we need a coach bus, I actually love riding around in a double decker but something needs to be done to improve the bus. We all agree a paintjob is probably the best way to spend money because we could have Hedges Games advertised as we travel." Hedges Games thought it was a great idea and voiced there opinion to the board of directors at Exeter City FC aswell. The meeting took place the following day where an official of Hedges Games signed a contract with Paul Tisdale, the manager and Denise Watts, Chairman. Denise explained also that this Add space on the side of the bus would allow provide the team $61,500 in cash and pay for the paint job which is rumoured to cost around $13,500 according to our expert source. |

Week 3 ![]() Exeter are Stunning Exeter City F.C. | 4 - 0 | Macclesfield Town F.C. Finally the Grecians have a game at home. The team was tired after being played so often lately but promised to give the home supporters a match worth their cash. The game begun with a top interception from Macclesfield followed by a striker shot in the corner. Possibly the best save in all of Exeter City history was stopped by Adam Stansfield who dived across the entire goal mouth and hold on with both hands of a flying top goal scoring goal. Perhaps Andy was proving himself this match due to rumours of a new transfer of a young first team goalkeeper in talk. After 12 mins Stansfield shot a magical goal from the box outline to fly beautifully into the top right hand corner. The game showed slow tired plays by Exeter City, giving away useless balls of which the forwards did not run on to fetch. However Macclesfield could not reply with tight balls being simply taken away from defenders. Stanfield retrieved a spectacular open goal pass to smash in and laugh about in the 39th minute thanks to Stewart again. Two minutes later Macclesfield lost a ball and were caught out as Stewart used his pace to sprint across his entire half and place a neatly crafted shot with plenty of time leaving the defenders for dust. Macclesfield lost there heads again as a pass across the goal mouth was intercepted with Stansfield bringing home his hattrick! The second half provided no goals however Macclesfield showed courage in delivering shots on target from outside the box which tested Andy once again. The home side simply wasted time until the finish resting there legs for next game and simply passing the ball around and trying to open up gaps but the forwards and midfielders had no energy left. Statistics Exeter City F.C. | 4 - 0 | Macclesfield Town F.C. 12 | Shots | 5 6 | Shots On Target | 3 52% | Possession | 48% 19 | Tackles | 13 3 | Fouls |0 0 0 | Yellows | 0 0 | Reds | 0 50% | Shot Accuracy | 60% 66% | Passing | 68% Goals '12 Stansfield '39 Stansfield '41 Stewart '43 Stansfield Man of the Match Adam Stansfield ST 9 ![]() Goals = 3 Assists = 1 Shots = 6 Shots on Target = 66% Dribble Distance = 289 Yds Match Rating 10 Aftermatch Interview Interviewer: Everyone believes you played a perfect game out there today? Your thoughts? Stewart: Hardly, I played a perfect first half but I had no energy in the second. Next game you'll see me at perfect when we play in the English Cup. Interviewer: So is the team resting next game for the Cup? Stewart: Yes ofcourse we plan on going the distance as far as possible. The cup is so important for our team and I have no doubt our reserves can follow thorough with a win. I also believe Paul Tisdale wants to challenge some of the youngsters with the new league. Interviewer: Thanks, see you in the English Cup then. |

Week 4 ![]() Paul Tisdale Edges 4th Spot Exeter City F.C. | 1 - 0 | Bradford City Exeter City went home this weekend looking at the leaderboard to find they are in 4th Position. This weeks win with the reserve squad over Bradford City has rested Stansfield for next weeks English Cup match. The kick off was played with overcast and the players used the time they had to push the ball ahead of them longer and quicker then usual. It could of been due to the youngsters in defence or the wise up front but something was unusualy strong in the team lately. The new goalkeeper Adam Mermillod played his first game and the entire match kept a beautiful clean sheet with some wonderful catches and there was plenty of challenged in his goal mouth the entire match. Bradford City came out wanting the game more after travelling far however it was Watson who murdered there hopes when he rocketed a shot in after a break 1 on 1 situation. The match ended with the two casually shaking hands there seemed to be no rivalry with this match or hard feelings. Stewart: I still feel I got some life in me and I definately believe I can be put up to the task of what Paul requires me to achieve. I'm not leaving the club we both agreed ill stay till retirement and even then im considering coaching. Interviewer: So do you agree that the team is changing quickly? Stewart: I believe Paul is doing what is necessary for the team to survive at the level we are at. Ive been to the Conference and Im not going back and im sure this is his exact thoughts aswell. The team isnt building so fast that it will affect my position any time soon. I'd be happy to get considerable game time for a year or 2 anything extra is a bonus. Interviewer: We look forward to seing you in your next match. |

Team Visit Sick Children ![]() the hospital is located just out of Exeter City and was built before WW2 Exeter City F.C. was seen travelling inside the Childrens hospital just remote from Exetel this morning. They travelled in there bus and appeared to include the entire team, manager and chairman. It was confirmed that after receiving a letter from a sick child who was a fan of the team, Paul decided to bring the team in to visit the entire hospital of children. The team brought gifts for each child and signed autographs. Later this afternoon we found Adam Stansfield in the streets shopping and spoke with him about the matters. He wasnt interesting in discussing much saying the manager was touched by the letter the boy Andy Simpson wrote and wanted to surprise the children. He also explained that there were to be no press because they were simply doing it for a good cause. Well we disobeyed but can you blame us when the team does something as wonderful and warming as this? We can only asume after this incident that the teams morale will be ready for this Sundays English Cup match with Oldham Athletic at the home ground. |

English Cup Round 1 ![]() Come On Exeter City! Exeter City F.C. | 2 - 1 | Oldham Athletic Hello im Steve Tyler and along side me as usual is andy gray and boy do we have a match on our hands today. The cup holds so much to your name, its win or lose today and for one of these two teams the journey starts here but for the other it ends. It appears Adam has returned for the team this week so Exeter are going for it but will he make a worthwile impact well have to wait and see. The match began with a stalemate approach between the two until the 20 minute as Bye put himself first on the score charts. Two minutes later the Marcus Stewart junior Richard Logan settled in nicely a beautifully crystal shot bending around the goalkeeper as he ran home a simple 40 yd dash past the defenders. The game remained tight until Oldham went for it as Hughes took a chance and Alan saved a miracle but the defence left Hughes open to header in an open goal shot. The remaining 20 minutes could have been the hardest the team has faced all year with shots firing left and right and being cleared to safely off the line with Scott Bennett on several incidents. Scott Well I got man of the match and played my best. If I dont play I wont have any regrets because I played my heart out today. Interviewer: Did the trip to the hospital this week provide more heart and spirit into your game? Scott : Yes I felt I could no longer carry on at the pace in the last 20 mins it was so fast but I just kept thinking of the kids and I no that a lot of the others in the team did the same and this game definately goes to them because we wouldnt of gone the distance without the visit and fun time we enjoyed this week. Interviewer: Thanks. Congratulations on clearing that last minute shot off the line. We look forward to seing you again soon. |
