Default [Barcelona - Real Valladolid] La Liga Matchday 1

LA LIGA

Match Day - 1

BARCELONA vs REAL VALLADOLID

FC Barcelona will be hoping to kick start their new season, after two years without any trophy's. Barcelona will be hosting Real Valladolid at the Camp Nou, so a win should be expected.

Barcelona will be looking to start strong and try not to fail behind against the likes of Real Madrid, Villareal, Atletico Madrid, and Sevilla.

TEAM NEWS [F.C. Barcelona] - If Barcelona don't win at the Camp Nou against Real Valladolid, then the directors would be very upset. This is Julian Berezovsky's first match in charge, and a thrashing is what Barca need to pick them up after two sad, trophyless seasons.
Dangerman: Andres Iniesta

TEAM NEWS [Real Valladolid] -
Real Valladolid will be hoping for a amazing stunner at the Camp Nou. A win there would put them off in perfect track for a top 10 finish.
Dangerman: Henok Goitom

A match F.C. Barcelona should win with ease, but you never know in football, and Real Valladolid could easily cause the first stunner of the season.

Yes, sometime in the future.
Right now I'm not making any transfers, since Guardiola brought many over the summer.

Thanks for the birthday happy,
how did you know though?

I think it will be an unlucky match buddy. You'll lose 1-0, but you'll kill the next team

Default [FC Barcelona 0 - 1 Real Valladolid] LA LIGA - Match 1

Barcelona lose to lowly Real Valladolid side!

Henok Goitom after scoring the game winning goal!

LA LIGA
CAMP NOU, AUG 13. 2008

FC Barcelona [0]

Real Valladolid [1]
Henok Goitom 83'

FC Barcelona 0 - Real Valladolid 1

Sergio Asenjo and Goitom ran the show as Real Valladolid take all three points from Barca at the Camp Nou.

Real Valladolid beat FC Barcelona in a heart wrenching match today at the Camp Nou. The match was not very entertaining and only had one goal. The Valladolid win will surprise many who expected Barcelona to cruise through Matchday 1 with a victory.

It was Barcelona that dominated the first half. The first chance coming in the 7th minute when Iniesta made a defense-splitting pass to Eto'o, who performed horribly throughout the night. Eto'o picked up the ball and in front of the goalkeeper shot it wide of the post.

Shortly after the poor missed chance by Eto'o, it seemed Messi was going to capitalize off of one of his trademark runs, but Sergio Asenjo, who was a beast today, threw himself to the ground to stop the incoming ball.

On the other side of the pitch, Real Valladolid got their first chance of the match in the 37th minute. Goitom was slipped in through by Borja and Goitom made sure that his shot tested the goalkeeper. Sending Victor Valdes flying towards the top corner to make the stop.

In the 43rd minute, Messi showed some fighting spirit, tackled Marcos trying to steal the ball, accidentally getting the feet instead of the ball, he picked up a yellow card.

The referee blows for the end of the first half. FC Barcelona were dominating the first half, just wait until the second half.

Right after the break, Real Valladolid came attacking with pace and determination to get a goal. They almost did when Borja shot from outside the box. He took a curling shot that rattled the top corner of the post.

In the 66th minute, the Valladolid manager made two substitutions to his improving side. Victor went out for Aguirre, and Sesma went off for Pedro Leon.

Around 72 minutes into the game, Valladolid came close again. Henok Goitom once again, proving why he is was the dangerman of the match. He was set through on goal by Canobbio, with only Valdes to beat he took a low shot that hit the right post and bounced off for Milito to clear.

It was the 83rd minute, and Henok Goitom was sent through on goal by Pedro Leon. He easily skipped past Puyol, a bad showing by the captain. Once again, one on one with Victor Valdes this time he did not fail. Henok Goitom gave Valladolid the win with that shot, and the only goal of the match.

Henry almost gave Barcelona a lifeline, a long cross from Keita saw him in a jumble in between two Valladolid defenders. He got a low shot, but Asenjo was there to block it once again.

Match ended 0-1 in favor of Valladolid, with FC Barcelona not looking too happy.

Team Line Ups

FC BARCELONA
: Victor Valdes; Dani Alves, Puyol, Milito, Abidal; Iniesta, Keita, Xavi; Messi, Eto'o, Henry

REAL VALLADOLID
: Sergio Asenjo; Pedro Lopez, Garcia Calvo, Luis Preto, Marcos; Sesma (Pedro Leaon, 66'), Alvaro Rubio, Canobbio, Borja, Aguirre (Victor, 66'); Goitom

Attendance: 68, 953.

You lost because of Goitom, now you should buy him and let him rot on the bench. You should be able to bounce back fairly quickly, though. Good luck against Real!
