Nice idea mate, I'm a manual user and I can say for the record it takes a while to get used to it, i think that maybe if ur learning a new game at the same time it might be like learning to run before you can walk.

Aye it is hard to get the hang of, with regard to the camera angle it's each to his own really.

Penalties are the same as before, at least I think so - I scored 5 in a row a minute ago

That would sound correct.....cos penalties are pretty much already manual.....too much power too much angle and you hot the guy with the hot dog in the stands.

I use now only Manual shooting, but I still have passes on Semi Assisted. Have some trouble finding the exact pressure I need to for a pass, but I am working on it. Everything else in Manual. I play in Amateur only because of the increased in pace on Semi and Pro, option I can not stand. But with those options on Manual, I find matches to be challenging enough for me even in amateur, and having fun.

Where I still have a problem with Manual Shooting is close to the goal at an angle, I miss the goal 8 out of 10, but shoots from outside the box are super, also the headers are much better, especially the finesse flicks headers, what a difference. I wish I could save replays on my Hard Drive (E.A. do you hear me?)...

Learning Manual everything is quite step, due to the fact no training mode exists. You can use 2 teams with 2 controllers, but is still a pain...

Top post mate, I agree manual shooting and passing are the hardest to get to grips with. Replays, no training mode - two of the most-needed things in 09, neglected again.

really? i would always use it when I first got the game, practice shooting, passing etc tbh not much after that though unless there was something specific I wanted to try out.

i don't know every time i get the game i would just start playing, they are all not that different to me... this is the first big change i think since I used to play on PC, it is different with a controller but my crossdoor neighbor in my dorm is also a big fifa fan and we just played a lot and i got used to it

A way you can train Pick Young Boys or Grasshoppers and play against Barca on Legendary...thats always fun especially when you want to learn proper build up it will make your passing immaculate eventually. Set the halves to 20 minutes if you want to feel like killing yourself. A little trick I learned to help with shooting. If you move to the slow dribble or the LT+RT Dribble and then shoot your shots are more accurate and better controlled, the only issue is finding the time and space to do so.
Training mode would be nice. Especially for set pieces, because it took me ages to figure out how to deliver a long free kick into the box for one of my forwards to latch on to. The maybe should edit the player movements in set pieces to have them make runs.

^It's never going to be easy but I hit the target quite a lot and win 60-70% of my games, I def score more goals on assisted though, but some of the goals I score now makes it worthwhie

So overall do people think Manual is best for shooting from range? every time I shoot from outside the box it goes straight at the goalie!! very frustrating.

Currently playing on assisted and despite creating plenty of chances I just cant find the back of the net consistently enough. particularly the easier chances! I never score 1 on 1's!

HELP! What am I doing wrong?

Reponse much appreciated!

Wait for the keeper to move & shoot near post. You only need to tap the shoot button if you're close. You want to keep your shots low.

Anything from the edge of the box or just inside then use finesse. If you're anywhere further back then i would try using the power button for your shots..

Power button? is this a secret button or do you just mean the shoot button on its own?

Shoot button while holding R2 for me on the PS3. Perhaps the left shoulder button and shoot for 360?

there's no 'power' button
if you sprint into a shot while originally just jogging you do get more power though
good physics engine i think... Force = mass * acceleration (jog to sprint = extra acceleration for your foot = extra force = SCREAMERS)
