Default Manchester City - Abu Dhabi's Reign

Dr Thaksin sells City to Abu Dhabi
It's official, Manchester City Chairman, Thaksin Shinawatra has sold the club to the Abu Dhabi United Group. After only over a year of ownership he has miraculously left the club. In a deal worth a reported £200 million was secured on the day before the deadline day of the transfer window. The Abu Dhabi have already ensured the British transfer record signing of Robinho form Real Madrid for £32.5 million. He takes his place alongside other new arrivals Shaun Wright-Phillips, Vincent Kompany, Berti Glauber and Pablo Zabaleta. With the Transfer Window not shutting for another day what other new arrivals can we expect from these controversial new Arabs?

Shock of the Summer, Hughes OUT
It's not a transfer this time by Dr. Sulaiman, but it has still caused commotion in the footballing world. After leaving Blackburn this Summer for Manchester City, Mark Hughes has been kicked after only 3 months of management. In the early hours of September 1st - Transfer Deadline Day, Mark Hughes and the new owners had a stern meeting, which didn't end well for the Man City boss. The question, you may ask, what's he done so terribly wrong? The answer - nothing! Dr. Sulaiman, CEO of the Abu Dhabi United Group and new owner of Manchester City FC, has sacked Hughes claiming that he isn't good or successful enough for his satisfaction. Stating that he needs a "world class" manager for his team. Some fans are outraged, but yet some fans are excited over the prospect of who the new "world class" coach could be. Some of the candidates include Frank Rijkaard, Roberto Mancini, Guus Hiddink and Michael Laudrup.

Michael Laudrup announced new City Manager
Only hours after the sacking of Mark Hughes, Dr. Sulaiman has announced the new City Manager as Michael Laudrup form Getafe. The Dane has been an up and coming young manager at Getafe that many clubs have been desperate to capture the siganture of. It is believed that Laudrup will begin his first training session on Wednesday the 3rd after the Transfer Window shuts. In the press conference, Laudrup stated that he will be trying to capture some players before the window shuts at midnight. The fans may have been outraged at the sacking of Hughes, but the arrival of Laudrup has increased the popularity of the new owners amongst the fans.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Summer Transfers 2008/2009

Gareth Bale

Christian Obodo

Eduardo

Martin Fenin

INS:

Martin FENIN - Eintracht Frankfurt - £752,600
Gareth BALE - Tottenham - £2,160,000
EDUARDO - Arsenal - £9,582,720
Christian OBODO - Udinese - £2,400,000
Mario Ariel KUJOVIC - Scouted

OUTS:
Michael BALL - Sunderland - £258,100
Gary BREEN - Hannover - £79,000
Kelvin ETUHU - West Ham - £151,200
Ashley GRIMES - Manchester United - £158,190
Didi HAMAAN - Newcastle - £206,400
Shaleum LOGAN - Blackburn - £70,680
Filippo MANCINI - West Ham - Loan
Richard MARTIN - St. Mirren - £64,260
Curtis OBENG - West Ham - £49,470
Daniel STURRIDGE - Fulham - Loan
Darius VASSELL - Sint-Truiden - £422,400
Martin PETROV - Blackburn - £5,850,010

Notable Transfers:
IN:

Martin FENIN|21|73|£752,600|ST - A young hot prospect, with a bright future. Top scorer at Youth World Cup, a very good signing.

Gareth BALE|19|78|£2,160,000|LB - A well-known left back/left mid with a deadly left foot, bags of pace and great defensive and attacking ability.Great signing on the left, he could fill in Petrov's missing positon.

EDUARDO|25|83|£9,582,720|ST - A lot of money spent on Eduardo, but certainly worth every penny. Before Hughes departure, we were struggling to score goals. But, this new arrival could change that.

Christian OBODO|24|78|£2,400,000|CM - In my opinion, seriously one of the best players on the game and I have got a steal here at £2.4 million. The big Nigerian is fast, powerful and versatile in every position from CB to CAM. Great Buy!

OUT:
Martin PETROV|29|84|£5,850,010|LW - One of my best players, but he was performing horrendously in the first few matches he had to go. It was a little below the asking price but i felt it was better with that than none at all.

Player of the Month:
Elano

Goal of the Month:
Eduardo vs Reading

Elano put in some impressive performances in December, scoring a vital goal in the Manchester Derby.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Transfer Review

Christian Obodo - He has commanded the midfield, playing from CDM - CAM in times of need.
9/10

Eduardo - Easily filled in the goalscoring role, scoring 14 goals in 20 games.
10/10

Gareth Bale - Played left mid throughout the first half of the season and he looked the part as well. Scoring a few and delivering vital assists.
9/10

Martin Fenin - Wasn't expecting to make the first XI considering the likes of Eduardo, Caicedo and Bojinov. But when playing he didn't perform, and yet to score a goal. Still, he wasn't plan to play this season but definitely one for the future.
7/10

Next Up: January Transfers and Results
