This morning Unai Emery penned a new deal with Valencia. This gives him an extra year to show what he can do at the club. He was linked with other jobs including Everton FC and Ajax, but he has decided to stay where he is.

Emery was previously a midfielder for Real Soceidad making 5 appearances and scoring one goal. He made 127 appearances for Toledo who play in the Tercera Division-Group 18. During the end of his career he played for Lorca Deportivo appearing 31 times, he also started his managerial career here. He moved on to UD Almeria. He got them promoted to La Liga and finished 8th in his 1st season.
This then got him his best job, Valencia. He will be hoping to acheive a lot at Valencia, maybe winning a trophy along the way. We have a press conference with this man now.

Reporter 1: Mr. Emery, what are you aims for this season?
Emery: My main aim is to get some of our star players to sign new contracts. This includes David Silva, Joaquin and of course David Villa.
Reporter 2: That will be hard though, Villa may want to move on to a much bigger club.
Emery: Yes of course, but I think Valencia can be a huge club. We can aim for the Champions League, that will attract big players. Villa wants to play in that huge tournament.
Reporter 1: Any transfer targets Mr. Emery?
Emery: Yes, I have a few. We are looking for another goalie and maybe a good striker and another midfielder. I want to start building for seasons to come so they will be young.
Reporter 3: You were linked with other clubs before you signed a new contract, what made you stay?
Emery: The clubs that came in were very big, but I really enjoyed my first season at Valencia and I want to build on that. I also have a family that are very settled in Spain and family comes first.

Pre-season Friendlies Announced.

Valencia have announced on their website that they will be travelling to England to play 4 Uefa Cup contenders. The matches will be played against Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and Everton. These games will test Valencia and give them an insight into who will figure in their league campaign.

Make sure you catch up with all the matches and the transfer news as it happens.

David Villa has decided that the Premier League i not for him at this stage of his career. Villa has been at Valencia since 2005 when they paid £8.2 million to Real Zaragoza. He ha made 100 appearances and scored 58 goals. He has won one trophy at Valencia which was the Copa del Rey last season. Since this he has been linked with a number of top clubs including Champions League winners Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Barclenona and Real Madrid.
He had this to say:

"I feel that it is too early for me to leave for a bigger club in England, I am enjoying life right now with Valencia but who knows what could happen later."

He was asked why he isn't considering Spanish giants Barcelona or Real Madrid:

"How can I move to a rival club to Valencia in Spain, when I move I will be moving out of the country."

He was also asked which club he would be most interested in when he does look to leave:

"Well, Manchester United: I couldn't go here because of there great rivalries with Liverpool and Arsenal. I have great friends at those two clubs it would be wrong.
Chelsea: I don't like their style of play, they may improve under Scolari but I don't see myself playing in blue!
My choice in England would probably be Liverpool or Arsenal. I have some of my best friends there in Pepe (Reina) and Cesc (Fabregas), they would be my top choices. However, there are other clubs in England and also Italy."

He was asked when he was likely to leave:

"You never know, whenever a club puts an offer in that Valencia accepts and that I am interested in then I will go. Only God knows the answer to that."

^Valencia are number one, In Villa's opinion anyway...
