Earlier today, chief executive Jez Moxey was quoted as saying that Collins was "a below par player who is not deserving of a starting place let alone the captaincy. How am I supposed to eat my pies in peace with Neill Collins on the pitch? It means I actually have to watch!". This news has been met with jubilation from Wolves supporters around the world who had been losing faith rapidly in McCarthy. Wolves are expected to appoint a new manager in the near future, with Steve Morgan hinting Wolves fans will "definitely recognise this man". No players have departed Molineux so far, owing to the recent appointment of a new manager. PLAYER DEBUTS Giampiero Pinzi: A promising start from the experienced central midfielder, trying the keeper on many occasions during an otherwise defensive display. Danilinho: Sensational debut from the striker who terrorised both defence and keeper. A good partnership with Keogh, with his speed and agility. Jorge Luis Valdivia: A very telented attacking midfielder, who had an impressive debut in which he showed his attacking threat. Stephane Dos Santos Moraes: He waited a while for it, but when it came, his debut was solid. An able crosser of the ball, with blistering pace to compete with wing-backs. A versatile player who can play in all midfield positions to a good standard. Sven Wetherell: the pick of the debuts so far, even more impressive that it took place against Arsenal. The 20-year-old scored a sensational individual effort to secure the win for Wolves. A fan's favourite already. Pictured: Danilinho ![]() CLUB NEWS Wolves have drawn Tottenham away for the fourth round of the League Cup. OTHER NEWS Wolves have appointed a new stadium manager. They have also hired a new head scout. Last edited by mzu; 29-07-2008 at 04:07 PM.. |

A 30th minute Ian Hume volley seperated the sides. Ebanks-Blake had hit the crossbar in the 19th minute with a blistering header, but that was mostly as close as Wolves came. They created many more chances than their opposition though, and the scoreline did not reflect the game. Paul Ince said afterwards that with spirit like that and a few top-class signings, the club can make it back to the promised land. MOTM: Ben Alnwick, GK, Leicester City. QPR 0 vs. 4 Wolves (FLC) A sensational performance from Wolves which saw Sylvan Ebanks-Blake and new signing Danilinho share the goals with 2 each. A slow start from Wolves saw the scoreline at 0-1 at half time, but an inspired team talk from Paul Ince rallied the team to score 3 more goals. It seems as though Wolves have finally hit scoring form after a stuttering start. MOTM: Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, ST, Wolves Wolves 2 vs. 2 WBA (FLC) Wolves couldn't hold on to their lead in a heated derby which they deserved to win. The hosts created a lot more chances than the opposition and were extremely unlucky to only come away with a point. Sam Vokes thought he had secured the win with his first goal for the club only for Beattie to equalise 20 minutes from the end. Wolves continued to press, but couldn't find a breakthrough. Disappointing for the Molineux men but they can take heart from knowing they played their arch rivals off the pitch. MOTM: Sam Vokes, ST, Wolves Wolves 2 vs. 1 Arsenal (LC) Wolves shocked Arsenal today in a match which they controlled. Wolves had their odds slashed before the match when bookies learned Sylvan Ebanks-Blake would not be starting due to him being rested by manager Paul Ince. This is a decision Ince was heavily criticised about but in the end it payed off. Arsenal took the lead in the 5th minute against the run of play when a Karl Henry header failed to leave the penalty area and a nice half-volley from Fabregas rolled into the post and the back of the net. Wolves stunned Arsenal in the 20th minute when Danilinho scored a sensational goal. Keogh played the ball to his feet and a swift turn and shot from Danilinho saw the ball fly past Almunia and into the top right hand corner. For the rest of the first half Wolves dominated and they finally got their reward in the 4th minute of first-half stoppage time, when a great individual goal from debutant Sven Wetherall put Wolves into the lead. He collected the ball on the halfway line, before beating three Arsenal players and dispatching a sweetly struck shot below Almunia and into the bottom left-hand corner. During the second half, it was much a case of holding on, and while Arsenal pounded and pounded at the door, Wolves held them off calmy. they almost scored again in the 80th minute when Danilinho hit the bar with a 30 yard screamer, and Keogh had a looping 25 yard swerver tipped over at the last by Almunia. A sensational performance from Wolves today. MOTM: Danilinho, ST, Wolves Tottenham 1 vs. 2 Wolves (LC) Tottenham were swiftly dispatched from the league cup today by a strong Wolves side. Olofinjana gave the visitors an early lead in the 5th minute with a powerful effort which went in off the underside of the bar. In the 28th minute the lead was doubled by Sylvan Ebanks-Blake from the edge of the 'D'. A bizarre own goal from Wayne Hennessey gave Tottenham the chance they needed, but they couldn't make it count and the match finished a comfortable 2-1 to Wolves.
