Thanks man. Niang and Cisse are a lethal combo for me with Ben Arfa supporting them. Hopefully they can do it in real life this year.

One More to leave the Velodrome.

Today one of the last players Marseille put up for sale left. Laurent Bonnart left the club today to pursue his career elsewhere. The official fee agreed upon between Caen and Marseille was around the 800,000 euro price. Bonnart made 8 apperances for OM this season before moving on.

L. Bonnart at Marseille

---------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this you Say????

In other news Marseille have supposidly made a reach bid on a player many would not think would leave his current club and come to France. Ricardo Quaresma is the player that Marseille have made the bid on today. Diouf had this to say. " It is very unlikely he will leave his country to come play abroad, but we have put in a substantial bid to see if he would like to come to France. We have been looking for a wing player this transfer market and we would love him to come to the Velodrome. If he comes then great if not we will find resources elsewhere. We have our backups if he chooses to stay in Portugal."
We tried to get in touch with Quaresma but could not get ahold of him. We will find out what happens in the following week.

Quaresma currently plays for FC Porto in Portugal.

Wonder Boy Strikes!!

Coupe Nationale
Round 3
Marseille Vs. Lille

Riou
Rodriguez--Hilton--Givet--Taiwo
Cheyrou-----M'Bami---Valbuena(C)
Elyounoussi
Ben Arfa---Moussilou

Marseille,France.
Marseille are resting some of there better players today due to fitness and minor injuries. The subs and reserves should play with a great deal of heart though as they will look to impress Cantona to try and get some starting time. This will be Ely's first apperance in the Starting XI he will look to show that he will be a threat to deal with in the future or maybe even now. The dynamic strike force of Niang and Cisse are out but Ben Arfa will still be there to help the team with the attack. Its time to play here at the Velodrome see you after the match.

Lille have the first prime opportunity of the game in the 5th min. Bastos overpowers Hilton and gets to the cross first. He has Mandanda beat far post but the ball goes wide and out for a goal kick.

Moussilou is the player to have the first chance for Marseille. Ely steals the ball at midfield from a Lille player and turns and finds Moussilou. Moussilou takes on his defender and gets stopped but the ball bounces back to him. He takes a long range bomb and makes Sylva come up with a tough save.

In the 26th min Ben Arfa is the culprit this time. He gets a weighted through ball from Ely and is in on goal. He takes his shot and makes Sylva come up with another great save, but this time he parries it out for a corner. The corner comes to no avail though and goes out for a goal kick.

The deadlock is broken right before haltime as Ely puts one in the back of the net. Cheyrou helps his teamate out with all the work by dribbling down the right flank and cutting into the box. He finds Ely running into the box and makes sure that all he has to do is get it past Sylva. Ely does his job and puts Marseille up right before the half.

Late in the second half Lille level the playing field at 1. Dumont finds Lichtsteiner near the 6 yard box with a brillant drivin pass. Lichtsteiner turns with the ball and shoots first time to beat Mandanda. Ladies and Gentleman this game might be going into overtime.

Overtime Here we come!!! Both teams have played hard in the 90 minutes of regulation but this game will have to be decided in OT. Two 15 minute periods will be play and if its still tied we shall go into PK's.

The first overtime period is over and no quality chances have come. We either settle this in the last overtime period or we go to PK's we shall find out what happens soon.

Freekick awarded to Lille about 25 yards out. Wow that was a close one. Bastos shoots a curling shot towards the left corner and misses by just a hair. That was almost the back breaker for Marseille.

Yellow card Given to Lille player Rami. His harsh tackle on Cisse has gotten him a yellow card and a Marseille freekick in dangerous territory. M'Bami is the man to step up to the ball. His freekick is on frame but Sylva comes up with the save.

The match is still tied and we are headed to PK's folks. Lille have won the coin toss and have chosen to go second.

Cisse- Made
Bastos- Saved
Taiwo- Made
Obraniak- Made
Niang- Made
Debuchy- Made
Valbuena- Made
Fauvergue- Made
Ben Arfa- Made

Marseille have just won in PK's 5-3. Ben Arfa converting on the final penalty. Mandanda is the man to thank though as he saved Bastos PK.

MOM: Hatem Ben Arfa

Ben Arfa wins MOM for his Game Winning PK

Cantona comes to speak with Press.

Sigh of relief at the press confrence after the match.

Reporter: Excuse me sir. What do you think about your teams performance against Lille in the Coupe Nationale, and are you proud of the backups for showing what they are made of?

Cantona: I think that they fought hard and showed me that they also deserve a spot on this team. We can only field 11 players so it is always hard to pick who to start and what not. They certainly showed me that they can fight through.
Reporter: What do you think about your new young signing scoring on his first debut in the starting XI?

Cantona: I have always known he has what it takes to compete on the top level no matter how old he is that is why I brought him here. It is great for him to score this early in his career here. They always say the first one is the hardest to get. Well it did not seem like that for him.

Reporter: How nervous were you going into PK's?

Cantona: I'm not going to lie my heart was pounding very fast. Who would not be nervous going into PK's in an elimation game. Mandanda came up with a huge save against Bastos and the rest of the lads finished there shots. What else could you ask for.

Reporter: We here that you also have another suprise for us this week can you tell us what it is?

Cantona: You will have to wait and see. Thank you guys for the time but I have to be going now the family is calling.

Who? What? Your Crazy!

Today January 25th Marseille Chairman Pape Diouf and Manager Eric Cantona have unveiled the biggest signing to Marseille in awhile. Ricardo Quaresma is the new playmaker that has arrived at the Stade Velodrome. Quaresma is most notably known for his skill on the ball and his lethal right foot. He fills the Right Mid spot that Marseille have been looking for during this transfer window.

Cantona had this to say about new boy Quaresma." To be honest I did not think he would choose to come to Marseille. He has enjoyed a good career in his home country of Portugal at FC Porto. We are thrilled to have him here in France though and he will be a key addition to the squad this year. We are looking to stop Lyon's run of league championships this year and he will certainly help us in doing just that."

Quaresma arriving at the airport in France to go through with a Physical.

We caught up with Quaresma after the photo shoot and asked him a few questions.

Reporter: First off congrats on being here. Ok so we all want to know why you chose to come to Marseille?

Quaresma: I have been to a few different countries to play my futbol such as Spain and Portugal, but I wanted to broaden my career. Marseille offered a deal I just could not resist and I thought it was time to move on.

Reporter: We all know that people tag you as a minature Cristiano Ronaldo how do you feel about that?

Quaresma: We do have some of the same qualities in common such as our pace with and without the ball and our technical ability with it. I see myself as a different person though. I have some traits that I have in my back pocket that Ronaldo doesnt use such as the outside of my foot. I love to use the outside of my boot to pass and shoot. Most people know me most notably by the goal I had against Ria Ave. I have learned to be me and people either like me or they dont.

Reporter: You have won many trophies while at Porto and Individual trophies. Hopefully you look to add more to your trophy case this year.

Quaresma: Yes I look to win the League and the Coupe Nationale. They have just won a thrilling game in the Coupe Nationale to stay alive. I watched it on tv and was thrilled they stayed alive. I want to win as many trophies I can while im here.

Reporter: Well thank you for your time and good luck this year.

Quaresma: Thank you and hopefully I will see you around.

I looked at him but i saw quaresma was on the transfer list so i went for him instead. Feindouno, Gavilan or Behrami were my other targets if i didnt get quaresma on the first try.
