January 2nd, 2008
Nancy vs. Marseille
Matchday 21

Marseille Starting XI

GK: S.Mandanda-74
LB: T.Taiwo-78
CB: J. Rodriguez-78
CB: G. Givet-79
RB: Hilton-79
CDM: L. Cana (Captain)-81
LM: M. Valbuena- 76
RM: C. Jedinka- 81
RS: H. Ben Arfa-75
LS: D. Cisse-79
CF: M. Niang-81

Pre Match Report:
Marseille have just come off of a game that was supposed to be a close one. This was not the case as they won 4-1. They have all the momentum going into the new year and look to be powerful in there search for the championship. They are also looking to bolster there squad during the transfer season. Nancy sit in 12th place right now and look to right there ship and start heading up the table. We shall see what happens in todays matchup.

First Half: Nancy Kickoff

7th min- Yellow card given to Nancy player Gavanon. Freekick from the left side of the penalty box.

15th min- The dynamic tandem of Cisse and Niang partner up for the goal again. Niang beats his man with a nice stepover and pushes it to the left. He then finds a wide open Cisse near the pk spot and slots the ball to him. Cisse puts the ball into the back of the net with ease.

21st min- Nancy even the score up at 1 with a brilliant header from Kim. The cross is served in and Kim gets the better positioning on Givet and flicks the ball over Mandanda and into the side netting.

38th min- Givet is handed a yellow card for a rough tackle.

Halftime: The first 20 or so minutes was very eventful but then the game settled down and possesion started to stay in midfield. The partnership between Niang and Cisse looks to be very dangerous for anyone they matchup against these days. We might see another goal out of them next half.

Second Half: Marseille Kickoff.

77th min- Finally some action in the second half. Jedinak takes the ball down the right side of the pitch and crosses a ball in. Niang gets his head to it and directs it towards goal. It beats the keeper and hits the back of the net. 2-1 Marseille.

83rd min- Taiwo takes the ball from defence all the to the other 18 and gets a cross off. Niang is there again to get to the ball first. This time he aims for the back post but misses just wide.

The whistle has blown and Marseille win the match 2-1.

MOM: Mamadou Niang wins the award with an assist and a goal.

January Transfer Window is here!!!!

Marseille are keen to sign new players after the summer window closing and not signing anyone. Ribery will still be one of there main targets but he might not be on the list during this transfer window. We have gotten information that Marseille have made bids on two youngsters. One being from France and one being from Norway. We do not have names right now but we should find out soon.

Le Mans has put a bid in for Cisse for 3.2 million euros but Marseille were quick to reject it. They had to say this about the bid. " We are not going to give up one of our best players for a measly bid like that. Even if we were going to part ways with Cisse we would need more money than that for him.

Boudewijn Zenden on the other hand is being sold to Valenciennes for a reported price of 2 million Euros. He was getting frustrated with the lack of first team play and wanted to move on elsewhere. We wish him all the best of luck at his new club.

January 5th, 2008
Bordeaux vs. Marseille
Matchday 22

Marseille Starting XI
Mandanda
Bonnart-Givet--Rodriguez-Hilton
Cana
Gonzalez--Cheyrou
Moussilou
Cisse-Niang

First Half:
Bordeaux Kickoff

10th min- Bordeaux have scored first. Jussie is the man to put it away. He gets the ball off of a deflection and puts the ball into a wide open net.

Goalscorer Jussie
15th min- Niang gets a brilliant chance on goal but what is that...his teamate Cisse gets in the way of the ball and it ricochets off of him and out of bounds. I bet Niang is mad about that.

24th min- Again Niang watches as one of his shots rolls out of bounds. This time it was the keepers doing though as Niang's point blank header gets a reactoin save from Rame.

35th min- Cisse beats his man down the line and gets a serve into the box. Niang is there for the header but Rame comes out of nowhere and makes the save.

Halftime Report: Marseille's players are keeping themselves off the score sheet this match. There have been two instances where a sure goal could have been but a teamate has gotten in the way. Credit to Bordeaux though for capatilizing on there opportunity. Marseille better pick this up if they want to keep there first place title.

Second Half: Marseille Kickoff

53rd min- The duo have done it again!!!! Cisse gets a throw in at midfield and dribbles the line. He serves his cross in and Niang gets a diving header to it. The ball goes top shelf and ties the score at 1.

Marseille's Goalscorer Niang

60th min- Hilton gets injured on a tackle by Marange and has to get subbed off. Taiwo makes the apperance for him. Hopefully he is alright he is a key player for this Marseille side.

61st min- Yellow card for Marange.

74th min- Substitution Marseille
ON: Ben Arfa
OFF: Moussilou

Full Time

MOM: Jussie

Bids Were Rejected....

The two bids Marseille put in were for French player Clement Chantome and Norway youngin Tarik Elyounoussi.

Marseille had there bid rejected for Chantome because PSG do not have enough players on the roster at the moment to let him go.

Tarik's bid was rejected because he would like to see more money come his way per match. He thinks that 5,000 per match is to low for his qualities. The 19 year old would love to move to a bigger club but would just like to see a little more money in the deal.

Cesar Jedinak has been sold to Caen today as well. He had a price tag on him of 6 million euros, and Caen offered 6.8. Cantona had this to say about him. He played good for us while he was here but we are looking for other people to come in and we just could not resist the offer. I wish him the best of luck at Caen and his future as he is a young lad.

Pape Daouda M'Bow has been sent out on loan to Toulouse until the end of the season as well.
