Failure in Summer Transfer Market.

Out:
Three players were sold today and two were loaned out.
The three players that were sold were S.Arrache, C. Carrasso, and F. Fiorese
Midfielder Arrache went to Dundee United to find better playing time opportunities. He left for 473,00 euros.

Goalkeeper C. Carrasso left to go to Toulouse for 1,728,000 euros. He left because he was frustrated he no longer had the first team position.

F. Fiorese went to St-Etienne for an undisclosed fee but we think it to be around 200,000 euros.

The two players that were loaned out were:
Thing Kouang Lao-Valenciennes
Mehdi Sennaoui-St-Etienne

Today marks the end of the transfer market and Marseille have failed to sign anybody. The last three bids were rejected, but all were linked to not enough money. Marseille will stick with the team they have now and wait until the January window.

September 1st, 2008
Marseille vs. Nice
Matchday 4
Stade Velodrome
Attendance 50,738

Starting XI

GK: S.Mandanda-74
LB: T.Taiwo-78
CB: J. Rodriguez-78
CB: G. Givet-79
RB: Hilton-79
CDM: L. Cana (Captain)-81
LCM: B. Cheyrou-77
RCM: K. Ziani-73
RS: H. Ben Arfa-75
LS: D. Cisse-79
CF: M. Niang-81

Pre Match Report: Marseille hasn't had the best of luck so far this season. They have lost two games out of three and failed to sign anybody in the transfer window. Nice has won twice and tied once in there three matches only dropping two points. Nice look to be on form and look to take the match away from Marseille. You never know what will happen with the Marseille team though.

First Half Kickoff: Marseille kicks off towards the North end.

The first 20 minutes have gone by and there have been no shots. The possesion has stayed in the midfield. Hope the game picks up.

28th min- My wish has been granted. The crowd has erupted here at the Velodrome. Off the throw in Ziani does a 1-2 with Ben Arfa and serves the ball into the box. Cisse rises above everybody and directs his header towards goal. It pings off the crossbar and down into the net.

32 min- So close bet yet no goal. Ben Arfa whips the ball into the box this time from the right hand side and Niang gets his head to it. The bullet of a header goes over the crossbar though in a failed attempt at goal.

40th min- Bamogo has Nice first shot on goal and he watches his bending shot saved by Mandanda to go out for a corner. Marseille clear the ball out but its for another corner. The following corner is cleared and nothing comes out of it.

Halftime Report: The match started out slow but picked up pace quick. Marseille look to be the stronger team in the game so far. They have had 5 shots while Nice has only had one. We shall see what the second half has to hold for us when we get back from this commercial.

Second Half: Nice kickoff towards the North End.

57th min- Niang strips the ball from a Nice defender inside there own 18 and shoot a curling effort towards goal. WHAT A SAVE!!! Lloris comes up with a game changing save with his pinky finger and deflects it towards the post. A Nice defender then clears the ball out. Wow that was a save.

60th min- Hilton gets into the attack and crosses the ball in from the right. Cisse gets his blonde head to it and hits it towards goal. No problem for the keeper as he watches it go way over the crossbar.

61st min- Substitution Nice
Out: H. Bamogo
In: D. Hellebuyck

71st min- Substitution Marseille
Out: Hilton
K.Ziani
M.Niang

In: R.Zubar
M. Valbuena
M. Moussilou

77th min- Super Sub Matt Moussilou has just made it 2-nil. Cisse takes the defense on down the left side and beats them with speed dribbles into the box and lays a pass off for Matt. He shoots a rocket into the top shelf of the net and makes it 2-nil

87th min- Nice try to make a comeback with a great chance from Kone. His shot goes over the crossbar by just hairs though.

90th min- Marseille have just finished this game off with another goal. Cisse beats the defence with speed again and slots the ball across the box but this time its to Ben Arfa. He cooly puts the ball into the back of the net.

Full Time:
Man of the Match: Djibril Cisse

1 Goal and 2 Assists makes him the man of the match

Peter Ijeh Sent on a Mission.

Peter Ijehwas sent to scout Europe for a backup RM. Marseille have no depth at the right mid position and need depth badly. Cantona had this to say about why he sent Ijeh out to scout. "Ziani is still working on his fitness but he tires quickly so we need someone who plays the position to add depth. We have been putting people out of position to cover for him but i would feel more comfortable to have a backup."

Marseille Vs. Lyon
Matchday 6

Attendance-Sold Out

Starting XI

Pre Game Report: This is a very heated rivalry between Lyon and Marseille. The have fought for the title of best in Ligue 1 for years. Lyon has got the upper hand on 7 straight occasions but Marseille look to change that this year. Lyon are sitting pretty in 2nd right now while Marseille are in 6th. This will be a battle for many things this year. The excitment through the stadium is just pulsing. The fans are going crazy already and the game hasnt even started. We are close to the kickoff at the Velodrome here is Andy Gray for the report of the game

First Half Kickoff: Marseille start the game

4th min- Milan Baros takes a long range effort to see what Mandanda is made of. He saves the shot with ease though.

8th min- Ben Arfa serves a ball in from the right flank. The Lyon defense handles it well though and clears it to safety.

15th min- A long through ball finds Benzima running in stride. He crosses it into the box and Baros has a side volley strike. Right into Mandanda's hands though. If Lyon want to score they will have to challenge him more than that.

20th min- Foul on the captain Cana at midfield.

25th min- Ben Arfa whips another cross in but this time Lyon clear it out for a corner. This could be dangerous Cisse is a corner specialist. Corner is served in by Niang. Cisse gets the the end of it at the pk spot but it caroms off the crossbar and is cleared by the Lyon D. That was close to being the tiebreaker.

28th min- Cana finds an attemped shot on goal rebound to him and lets go a massive rip. Vercoutre parries the ball over the crossbar and out for another corner. Can Marseille capitalize on this one? Cisse gets his head to it again but Lyon doesnt clear it well enogh. Cana gets the rebound and gets fouled right outside the box.

29th min- Cheyrou is up to take the kick. He bends his shot to the right corner......oh just inches over the crossbar. Marseille are taking it to there rivals this year I guess they mean business.

39th min- Another corner for Marseille. If Lyon keep giving them up Marseille should capatilize on atleast one of them. Cheyrou serves it but it comes to nothing.

45th min- Baros does some fancy moves on the left flank and fakes out Taiwo. He serves the ball into the box and Benzema gets his head to it. Mandanda makes a spectacular save to his lower right. That would have been a goal if not for his fast agility to get down that quick.

Halftime: Looks to me as though Marseille are out for blood. They have put the pressure on and kept it up throughout this entire game. Mandanda has only had one shot that has troubled him and he came up with an amazing save to keep it out. On the other side of the pitch the goal has been rocked with shots just not one of them going in. Second half about to start hold on to your seats folks this is a game to keep up with.

Second Half: Lyon kickoff

48th min- Lyon come out the gates on fire everybody. Juninho dribbles down the left side and serves a cross in. Baros makes a diagonal run infront of Rodriguez and directs the ball to the far post. Off the post and into the goal the ball goes. 1-0 Lyon what a turn of events.

58th min- Foul on Djibril Cisse that was a maliscious tackle. No booking though.

82 min- Niang gets the ball down the left hand side of the pitch and beat his defender and serves a cross in. The keeper and Squillaci collide going for the ball and it drops to Valbuena's feet with an open net. Valbuena make sure it counts and burries it into the back of the net to tie the game up. The crowd erupts and starts the chant of l'OM I'OM. This is a thrilling match ladies and gentleman.

88th min- That has to be a foul on Lyon. Cisse broke free from the pack and was going to be 1v1 with the keep but Fabio Grosso takes him down. The ref says play on. The crowd erupts into a loud roar and boo's the ref while Cisse complains to the ref. That was a very bad call that should have been a booking and a freekick for Marseille.

Fulltime:
That was a very intense game from beggining to end. Lyon scores first even though they were dominated the whole game. Valbuena then rescues a point for Marseille in the late stages of the game. And that no call on Grosso was very bad the freekick could have been the difference maker in the game.

Man of the Match: Mathieu Valbuena

Hey! Great thread! rated it a 5! Good to see that you're playing well with Marseille! Make them European champions again. Say, you're playing Ben Arfa as RS? How is he as a winger? does he go down? My cousin told me he goes up. I dunno. =/

Thanks mate. And yeah Ben Arfa goes up by like two when you put him out on the wing. He has been playing really good for me on the wing too, so im going to leave him there

Yount Talent found in Italy Men's League Game!?!?!?

Peter Ijeh found a young and talented player during a mens league game while in Italy. Cesar Jedinak was playing for his mens league team Forza Italia when Ijeh spotted him while walking to AC Milan's training ground. Ijeh stopped to watch the game and saw his raw talent for futbol. He asked him if he would like to come play at Marseille and he snatched the chance up to play for a major team. We got a hold of him before training one day and asked him a few questions here is what he had to say.

Reporter: How crazy is it that you were found playing in your mens league game while the scout was walking to Milan's training ground?
Jedinak: It is very weird but no complaints are coming from me.
Reporter: How come you have not been givin any offers from other clubs before and not playing proffesionally?
Jedinak: I have always thought that I was a decent player, but I do not know that answer for sure. When I was younger I was in a few youth academy teams but they always let me go. I guess they didn't like the way I played. I am a smaller player that is quick to the ball and I guess they wanted bigger stronger players.
Reporter: We are glad you are here with us at Marseille. What position do you play if I may ask?
Jedinak: I prefer to play Center Mid but I also play Center Defensive Mid. I am not as good at that though. I like to get into the attack.
Reporter: Thank you for your time and good luck this season.
Jedinak: Thank you

( I dont know how his name sounds Italian. I was lost about that)

Auxerre Vs. Marseille
Matchday 7

Starting XI

GK: S.Mandanda-74
LB: T.Taiwo-78
CB: J. Rodriguez-78
CB: G. Givet-79
RB: Hilton-79
CDM: L. Cana (Captain)-81
LCM: M. Valbuena- 76
RCM: C. Jedinak-81
RS: H. Ben Arfa-75
LS: D. Cisse-79
CF: M. Niang-81

Pre Match Report: Marseille had a tough game last week against the nemisis Lyon. They fought to a 1-1 draw but they dominated the whole game and were very unluck to come out with just one point. Auxerre are on a good form right now in 6th place in the league. This should be a good game with Marseille's new talent to start at Right Center Mid. Here come the two teams. Auxerre are in the all white kit while Marseille are in the Orange black black kit.

First Half: Auxerre to Kickoff

10th min- First action of the game comes from Marseille. Cisse dribbles down the sideline and beats his marker but cuts back. He serves in a back post cross that comes to Ben Arfa's head. The shot it towards goal but Sorin tips the ball over and out for a corner. The corner is swung in by Jedinak and Niang heads it to the back post. Sorin comes up with a nice diving save to keep the score notted at 0-0.

16th min- Again Cisse takes advantage of his man with his blistering pace and whips a cross in. This time Niang tries for the diving header but missed the goal by miles. I think that ball ended up in row Z....

25th min- This time Cisse beats his man but decides to keep it himself and take a shot. He shoots from the pk area and makes the keeper dive to his left and punch it out for another corner.

27th min- Off the corner Auxerre D handles it well and makes a quick break down the field for a counter attack. Jaures finds himself alone down the left flank and sees a streaking Maoulida running into the box. He serves the ball in and Maoulida heads it towards goal but missed by inches.

34th min- Jedinak finds Ben Arfa with a nicely weighted pass at the top of the arch. Arfa turns and has a one time volley. Wow that was a rip of a shot but unfortanatly it went wide.

40th min- Taiwo tries to get involved in the attack and takes it into the middle of the pitch. He tries one of his patented long range shots but is off balance and misses terribly. Maybe next time.

Halftime: Marseille have taken control of this game from the first whistle and Auxerre are lucky not to be down by now. Marseille have had the ball on there side of the pitch the whole game and have taken 8 shots with 4 going on target. Possesion has also been taken over by Marseille with a 58-42 percent to them. Here come the teams out of the locker rooms. Looks as though Marseille have made a change on the Right Mid. It looks as though Cheyrou has come on for Valbuena.

Second Half: Marseille Kickoff

55th min- Niang does some fancy step-overs to fake out his man and takes it left and has a low driven shot. Sorin gets down to it with ease.

60th min- A floated through ball from Captain Pedretti goes over the Marseille defense but Taiwo gets to it before Jelen and hits it out for a corner. Foul in the box on an Auxerre player. Marseille ball

70th min- Substitution Auxerre
In: J. Lesage
Out: T. Maoulida

73rd min- Once again Cisse takes advantage of his man by beating him down the line and crosses the ball into the box. This looks dangerous. Goalaso Niang. Ben Arfa flicks the ball onto Niang and Niang has a shot into a wide open net.

80th min- Substitution Marseille.
Super Sub M. Moussilou comes into the game for a depleted Niang. Niang did great in breaking the score and making it 1-0 Marseille.

90th min- Auxerre player Chafni has a desperation shot to see if Mandanda is paying attention. Chafni shoots a from a first time pass at midfield and Mandanda makes a very easy save.

Fulltime: Marseille win 1-0

Man of the Match: Steve Mandanda with one save.
(Weird man of the match with no work to do)

Mandanda preparing for a shot
