Default Chelsea FC MM

CHELSEA F.C:

Chelsea are hoping that new coach Luis Felipe Scolari will be able to bring Chelsea some silverware this season. During his final days as Portugal coach Scolari said: " It is my job to stay quiet about these matters until the end of EURO 2008, for now my sole objective is to win the tournament". Scolari seemed to forget unfortunately that just an hour ago Chelsea had already publicised his arrival at the club. This actually happened lol

Now at his new job, Scolari is met with the news that Barcelona have released Deco to Chelsea for an indisclosed sum believed to be in the vicinity of 12 MILLION EUROS.

Scolari has also expressed an interest in signing Valencia star David Villa and Boca Juniors playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme.

"I believe Villa will be quite effective alongside Drogba and Anelka" Said a pleased Scolari, but we are yet to receive any word from Valencia on the matter."

"I know it will be diffuicult to lure Riquelme from Boca Juniors, a club he has always felt very attached too for all his life. But I am confident we can get a few good seasons from him before he may want to go back to club he has always called 'home'.

Chelsea have also expressed an interest in signing young Bayern Munich striker, Lukas Podolski.

Yes I am having trouble getting photos.

Default Good result for Chelsea:

Chelsea faced Arsenal last night in their first pre-season friendly. A match that promised perhaps a performance from new signing Deco.

A boring first half produced only one highlight, a yellow card for Gilberto Silva of Arsenal just on half time for a horrendous tackle on Lampard.
After half-time, Chelsea fans got that moment they had been waiting for. Deco was brought on in th 47th minute for Schevchenko but palyed in the CAM position allowing Lampard to play up front.

In the 57th minute the game finally became interesting. Robin Van Persie forced an inspirational Petr Cech save in a 1v1. Three minutes later, Arsenal were defending. And a great run down the side of the box from Drogba right to the by-line, where he made a lob cross to an unmarked Lampard who volleyed it along the ground and into the bottom corner, giving Chelsea a rather deserved lead.

In the 64th minute Van Persie was given another chance 1v1, and this time hit the post, and really should have scored. However in the 70th minute Chelsea let Van Persie through once to often, and he produced a perfect finish to level it 1-1 with 20 minutes to play.

If Chelsea could've written the perfect fairytale ending, it would have been this. In the 85th minute a Joe Cole run from the wing turned into a cut inwards towards the middle, about half way into the Arsenal defence, he spotted a gap and immediately passed to none other than Deco. Whom right in front of Lehmann controlled and shot into the bottom corner, scoring on his Chelsea debut to make it 2-1 to Chelsea. Ballack was brought on shortly after the goal. And it finished 2-1 to Chelsea.

Deco: "Well it was great to play in the opening friendly and to score, I was quite happy to silence my critics who said the EPL was to physical for me"

Scolari: "A good result, very promising and I hope this will help us set our sights for the season"

William Gallas(Arsenal captain): "Well I think through some of the game we desered better than we got and perhaps played well enough to win it, it was disappointing for us none the less."

Chelsea 2-1 Arsenal

Default The usual Chelsea vs Liverpool...

Well, we know that whenever Chelsea paly Liverpool, the match is always disappointing, and last night's match was no exception.

Despite the debut performances of Riquelme and Podolski nothing could make the game amusing.

It started promisingly, a Didier Drogba cross after eight minutes gave Ballack an excellent volley chance, completely unmarked, but his effort was awful, about ten yards wide.

But five minutes later Ballack showed Liverpool that he meant business, a long range shot just over the bar. After 28 minutes Chelsea were beginning to wonder why they weren't leading. A brillian Malouda cross to Drogba should have been headed in, but went just wide.

Deco began to show why Chelsea signed him, just before half time a great thru ball to Podolski saw him one on one with Reina, but the nineteen year old's shot was saved by Pepe Reina.

So the teams went in 0-0 at the halfway point.

On 58 minutes Liverpool created their first chance. A fernando Torres shot with irresistable force and dip from an almost impossible angle forced Cech to make the save of the game. On 60 minutes, on came Riquelme. And he had an immediate influence on the game. After a great run down the wing he made a sublime cross to Lukas Podolski, whose volley beat Reina but not Jamie Carragher on the goal line.

In the 90th minute Michael Ballack made another attempt at goal which sailed over the bar perhaps onto the roof, a reflection of the dismality of theh game.

Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool

Default Scolari vindicated:

Scolari has pulled it off again, it required a fair bit of luck but Chelsea ahve grabbed the victory as dramatically as last time they won.

The game was by no means cagey. In just the 4th minute, Ballack had a shot from 40 yards forcing VDS into a great save.

But it was United who controlled the opening half. In the 12th minute, Ryan Giggs' effort was saved 1v1 by Cech.

But a poor throw from Cech. Allowed United to reform an attack and in the 14th Paul Scholes had a chance of his own, and made no mistake. 1-0 to United.

United then controlled the game for the rest of the half and nearly doubled their lead in the 35th minute when Rooney got through only to be denied by a determined Petr Cech.

On the stroke of half time, Chelsea created their first real chance, a great run by Podolski was not matched by the pass to Drogba, throwing Ivory Coast international off balance his shot easily saved by VDS. Who booted it upfield to go into half time with United leading at Stamford Bridge by one goal to nil.

In the 55th minute, Drogba found Podolski in space on the counter attack, allowing the promising German talent to run 30 yards and slot the ball past a helpless Edwinn Van Der Sar.

In the 62nd minute, Scolari made two changes, Riquelme replaced Deco, and Michael Ballack made way for Frank Lampard.

On 75 minutes, Michael Essien made a great run and was fouled by Wes Brown who was the last defender. The Chelsea players were furious with the decision to only book him.

But it didn't matter for Chelsea too much because from that very free-kick, up stepped Riquelme. Who produced a stunning, curling shot into the top corner to give Chelsea the lead with just fifteen minutes to play.

In the third minute of stoppage time Rooney broke for United one last time, and just as he looked to have scored, Cech made yet another unbelievable save. Catching the ball and ripping it down field with the kick where the referee blew for full time. Giving Chelsea a famous 2-1 victory.

Chelsea 2-1 Manchester United
