"I don't want to do this any more"

Alan Curbishley sat down with us, and explained why he decided to quit his job at West Ham, after a decent season at the club, following a season where he was able to keep them out of relegation. We also get his opinion on the 18 year-old Canadian Born Robbie Cocker, his replacement.

"Alan, first let me say what a shame it is to see you leave after only two seasons"

"It's been a pair of good seasons though, so I can leave feeling relatively pleased"

"Everyone was expecting another thrilling season, and until recently, you were going to give them one?"

"I just woke up one morning, and I didn't want to go to work. It was the first time that had happened to me, and I knew. I knew I had lost my will to manage this club"

"You decided to leave because you didn't feel like getting up for work?"

"(Laughing) No, no. It has been in my mind for a while. I don't have the energy to take this club places. The supporters are quite right to judge me saying, I will never aim passed 10th place. It's true. Once I feel the club will avoid relegation, I like to ease up a little, just because it relieves my own personal pressure. It's not fair to the club, or the supporters. If I stayed, it would be selfish."

"So back to retirment?"

"Most certainly. I could right a short book on home much sleep I lost during West Ham's relegation battle 2 seasons ago, as well as making sure we finished this past season strong"

"(Laughing), well, we wish you all the best for your retirement. What do you reckon about the 18 year-old they have put in charge of the club following your retirment?"

"He's a good lad. Full of ambition, and youth. If I am being really honest, I believe the club will prosper under him"

"But you only just met him?"

"Yes. He has the drive that I once had, only he has the youthful optomism to use it to his advantage"

"Thank you for your time Alan, all the best"

"Cheers"

He seems optomistic about his young replacement, and there is plenty of confidence being thrown Cocker's way by the rest of the board, so now only time can tell if he is the right man for the job.

Fancy an 18 year old managing West Ham

By the way, is there a reason why when I post topics I don't have the toolbar that lets me change size, centre, etc

I'm looking at Arda Turan to replace Solano, and Ljungberg (Sp?). This is going to be a season in 2008-09 by the way, with a few choice transfers I manually made

Arda Turan

I hope they fix his overall for Fifa 09. He did great this season (well, the last couple games of the season, scored his first hat trick for Galatasaray) and his performance in the Euros.

David And Rafael to Anfield

It has been confirmed that Holland Wizard Rafael Van Der Vaart, and Spanish titan David Silva, have both agreed to move to Liverpool, each for a fee in the region of £17,000,000

Liverpool have agreed a £16,000,000 fee for Valencia star prodigy David Silva. David Silva impressed greatly at Euro 2008 this past summer, and played a large part in bringing the Euro to Spain for the first time since 1964. His only Goal in the tournament came from a superb pass by Francesc Fabregas. Silva controlled it well, and then fired it low into the bottom left to finish off an already dissapointed Russia side. He had a low point in the Tournament however, in the final. It was believed he 'Headbutted' Germany star striker Lukas Podolski. There was strong speculation that if Podolski had decided to make more of it by falling to the ground, or really signalling that he was hurt, Silva may have been sent off, and a 10-man Spain team might not have faired so well. Silva was not penalised however, and was quickly subbed off to avoid a 2nd incident.

David Silva has left Valencia mainly for purposes of Financial trouble for the club, but many believe after his performance in Euro 2008, he was destined to move to a bigger club. For now, his Friend and teammate David Villa, who is also strongly linked with a move to Anfield, remains at Valencia.

Another new face that will be appearing in Liverpool from now on, is Dutch Master-Class Rafael Van Der Vaart, who had a stunning Euro 2008 as well. Though he scored no goals, he had several assists, and was a brillaint passer of the ball through the whole competition. Russia dispatched of the vibrant Holland, after a classy display of detirmination in their 3-1 victory over the dutch in the quarter final. They themselves were then dispatched in a 3-0 thrashing by Spain.

Hamburg were not keen to let their star go for less than £20,000,000, but a fee of £18,000,000 was agreed, and the dutchman is headed for England.

VDV- "It's a great thing, it truely is. Liverpool are a team that you always hear of. You hear there name is European football a lot. I was shocked to be linked with them. I expected perhaps a bid from Manchester United, and I was detirmined to only accept from them. But when Liverpool came forward, I suddenly didn't want to say no. It felt exciting, and with such quality players they are a team capable of winning the premier league. Kuyt is here, and when I told him I was linked with Liverpool, he went into a long speech about how much I would love it here, so I am really optomistic that this is the place for me"

Playing with a different Deco

Chelsea have agreed a £15,000,000 fee for Portugese star Deco

New Chelsea manager Scolari, has been expressing desire to sign his Portugal player, Deco for the past few months. Talks were able to begin after the unexpectedly quick depature by Portugal from Euro 2008

Scolari- "There is a large amount of talent coming the Premiership's way this year. I'm glad that Deco has decided to come. I of course had him at Portugal, and he is a fine player. The transfer fee was the only issue. I thought he would be a lot cheaper than he was after Barcelona's season"
