Two goals from Coveny puts the Phoenix firmly on top of the table as the Jets goes down 3-1 in front of their own crowds.

Phoenix took the lead early when Coveny selflessly set up Draper to score after he managed to escaped his marker. Coveny then scored the second goal 6 minutes later from Smeltz wonderfull through ball which splits the defense wide.

Mario Jardel then should had scored two goals for the Jets but he missed both in the 19th and 38th minutes although he was 1-on-1 with Paston.
However, Musialik managed to cut Phoenix' lead to one goal after he scored from close range in the first half injury time.

The second half saw the Phoenix giving away 3 free kicks in just 10 minutes but Musialik failed to took advantage of it.

3 minutes before time, Coveny crushed Jets hope to at least take away 1 point from the game after he volleyed the ball into the net from Draper chipped through ball.

Tsattalios only goal for the game give the match to Sydney FC in an exciting match that Wellington Phoenix dominates.

Sydney start the match positively. The first goal scoring chance of the game came in the 16th minutes when Zdrilić shot the ball high. 8 minutes later, Brosque shot hit the right side of the net and about a minute later, Santalab shot from way out was just a little over the bar. Zdrilić threatened again but his shot was just inches wide of the right post.

Phoenix only chances came before the break when George escaped his marker and shot from the penalty spot but Bolton managed to block it away.

Just like the first half, Phoenix dominates the second half, but the first team to score was Sydney. Aloisi late challenge on Brosque gave away a free kick which Juninho fire it low but Paston managed to pulalalala away. Juninho took the following free kick short to Tsattalios, who shot from the edge of the right side of the box, and scored, although the keeper managed to goet a touch on it.

From that moment onwards, Sydney played more defensively while Phoenix played more offensively with their best chances from Coveny in the 72nd and 74th minutes were inches wide and pushed away. Sydney defended well until the referee blows the final whistle.

Phoenix records their biggest win in the A-League after humiliating the Mariners in front of their fans by 5 goals to nil.

Zaki scored his first goal of the season and Phoenix fifth goal of the match

Phoenix opened the scoring early in the 11th minutes when Coveny managed to escaped his marker before fires a shot straight into the back of the net. Phoenix tight defensing prevent the Mariners from getting any shot on target.

With the rain started to fall after half hour of play, Phoenix looked more dominant and evntually double their lead in the first half injury time when Cortes pass from inside the box found Smeltz who netted the ball from close range.

Phoenix then made it 3-0, 3 minutes after the break when Milner found an opening and shot the ball past Vukovic and 9 minutes later he scored again to make it 4-0.

Zaki then completed Phoenix biggest victory after he played a wonderdul 1-2 pass with Coveny.

Wellington Phoenix moves closer to win the A-League Premiers following a 2-0 win against Queensland Roar.

Coveny scoring the second goal

Most of the game played on the midfield area with neither side can't get pass each other defenses. Only a few goal scoring shances were created and one of them is the first goal in the 34th minutes.

George long pass into the oposition half found Smeltz who then go around his marker and fires straight into the right corner of the net.

The second goal then came early in the second half from Coveny powerful shot to the top corner of the net.

After the second goal, Phoenix started to slow down and played more deffensively while Roar still can't get through the defense until the final whistle.
