SPALLETTI RESIGNS AS ROMA COACH
Luciano Spalletti has resigned as AS Roma head coach. Franco Sensi has shown his disappointment in losing him but insists he has found the manager to fill the gap.
Ex-Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has stepped up to the job.
"I'm really excited with the squad and the prospect of Champions League football."
His first competitive match will be the Supercoppa Nazionale final against Inter Milan.

ROMA VICTORY OVER INTER
New signing C Zaccardo started at right back in this tight but exciting game. Doni was by far the best player after making some fantastic saves to keep Roma in the game, whereas his opposite number made a few mistakes.
But it was the French international, Ludovic Giuly who stole the cup for Roma. In the dying seconds he broke away from the Inter defenders and stroked the ball past Francesco Toldo. 1-0 Roma!

Roma lose first match of the season
In an exciting match Siena come out on top. Siena only had 2 shots, and scored both, Maccarone tapped in from close range and in the second half Chiesa headed in from a beautifully lofted corner. In the 89th minute, Totti hit a 20 yarder which gave the Roma fans hope but it was short lived.

ROMA STILL CAN'T WIN
In a midfield battle, both teams scored in injury time to earn a point. The only positive that came out of a poor Roma side was midfield, hard-nut Daniele DeRossi. He ran the game throughout and set up the equalising goal.
That goal was scored by Ludovic Giuly. Just before that Amauri had given Palermo a surprise lead but Roma didn't give up and got there goal. Martin O'Neill was pleased with the performance.
Ed: Are you disappointed with todays draw?
Martin: No, we've shown we can battle on.
Ed: Many fans were disappointed with it.
Martin: I thought we were fine and Lazio will know it on Saturday

TWENTY INJURED IN ROME DERBY
In a match where Archubi made his Roma debut, Roma and Lazio fans clashed before, during and after the match. 14 Lazio fans and 6 Roma fans were injured in the brawl with a 16 year old Lazio fan seriously harmed.
Aside, the match itself was a tight one. Only the in-form De Rossi could seperate the two. A blocked De Rossi shot came back to him and he scored a beautifully placed half-volley.

Daniele De Rossi was again on fine form to earn a point for his team. The Parma striker Igor Budan slotted the ball past Doni to put Parma ahead. But Mancini threaded the ball through for De Rossi to tap home.

ROMA ONLY HIT ONE PAST WEAK CAGLIARI
In a poor match, Totti was the only player to get the ball in the back of the net. Rodrigo Taddei was easily the best player on the pitch but even he couldn't break the Cagliari defence.
In the 50th minute, Francesco Totti broke away from Diego Lopez and whacked the ball past The goalkeeper.
Both teams had other chances but that was the only goal. Roma need to improve if they are going to get into the Champions League.
