Decided to start a new manager mode thread with the team ive followed for the last couple of seasons Tottenham. I've had a good start to the season so far buying some decent players and winning the first 7 matches in the premier league. At the moment sitting top of the table 9 points clear of Liverpool with Paul Robinson managing to mantain a 7 game clean sheet record.(amazing!) I'll try and get you guys up to date with whats been happening in terms of transfers results etc and my plans for the team.
I plan to play the 15 seasons with Tottenham to try and build them to be a superior team in Europe similar to Manchester United, Barcelona, AC milan, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Liverpool etc. I definately like to keep the game realistic so i wont be going out to buy big names to build an unbeatable team instead i will keep things as realistic as possible only buying big names when they are actually on the transfer list or when i feel it would be a realistic transfer for Tottenham to make. All comments and advice you guys leave are greatly appreciated! Hope you enjoy this as much as i have enjoyed all of yours. |

![]() ROBINSON SILENCES THE KOP The much antcipated top of the league clash at Anfield did not dissapoint. Tottenham unbeaten after 7 matches out to silence the 'kop' while liverpool after a great 4-0 win over Derby were looking to secure 2nd position and close the gap on the league leaders. Brett Stevens decision to start Jermaine Defoe in this match would pay off in the 28th minute when Defoe was brought down in the box by Xabi Alonso. Defoe would then slot away the penalty for Tottenham to take a 1 goal lead. Apart from a chance to Taiwo that went wide, the rest of the first half was pretty quiet. Tottenham going into the sheds very wary that Liverpool would come out strong in the second half. That definately was the case when Fernando Torres broke away from the Tottenham defence and looked certain to score. But a defiant Robinson looking to keep his amazing 7 game clean sheet record intact showed why no striker has put one past him this season with another tremendous save. A shocked Torres could only look on while Robinson celebrated and the Anfield crowd went silent. Minutes later up the other end Daniel Agger could only watch on as a ball that came off his back heel was picked up by Robbie Keane. Tottenhams newly appointed captain not making any mistakes in taking his team 2 goals up. This is how the game would end with Liverpool struggling to even keep possesion of the ball late attempts by Huddlestone and Keane were saved by Reina and the Tottenham defence helped keep Robinson's clean sheet record intact by limting liverpools shots on goal to 2 in that half. A great performance by Tottenham sees them stretch there winning streak to 8. How long can they keep this up? Last edited by R.KEANE08; 03-01-2008 at 04:51 PM.. |

BENT SALE A MISTAKE? New Tottenham manager Brett Stevens has admitted that selling Darren Bent before he had even played a game for the club could of been a mistake. Bent now at Everton after a pre season transfer valued at around $24,000,000 said in an interview recently "i am out to prove a point this season, and that point is that Tottenham made a huge mistake in letting me go." The former Charlton striker joined with Tottenham at the end of last season after Charlton were relegated to the championship. Stevens decision to sell Bent to make way for american prodigy Freddy Adu seemed logical with the likes of Keane, Berbatov and Defoe all firing in pre season matches. But now with Bent topping the top scorers list with 8 goals in as many games it seems Stevens decision may have been a little rash. "He (Bent) is doing really well at Everton, maybe us letting him go has brought out a new hunger to succeed in him. Maybe we were wrong to sell him but right now we are top of the league and i have to concentrate on keeping us there. I cannot dwell on a decision i have made in the past" -quote from Tottenham manger Brett Stevens |

hmm everytime i played with him previously i found he didn't finish very well and well Adu is one of my favourite players. In mid field he's amazing it also allowed me to buy Giles Barnes and Taye Taiwo to strengthen my left side. thanks for the comments though. |

sold him to manchester city, didnt really fit into my plans. had to many centre midfielders. even with him and tainio gone i have 7 players that i play there. Jenas, Huddlestone, Boateng, Adu, Murphy, Zokora, Taarabt. Probably sell Murphy and Zokora and loan out Taarabt in next transfer period bring in Essien hopefully.

![]() ENGLANDS KEEPERS BATTLE IT OUT IN ASTON VILLA, TOTTENHAM THRILLER. Paul Robinson and Scott Carson were the stars of the show today at White Hart Lane. The pair pulling off some miraculous saves to keep their fans on the edges of their seats. Unfortunately for Carson a goal from Dimitar Berbatov after a great pass from Huddlestone in the 18th minute would see his team go down in what can only be described as a classic match. Chances from Carew and Gareth Barry which seemed to be already passing Robinson were tipped away. And down the other end apart from the Berbatov goal a vigilant Carson kept his team in the game with amazing saves time after time with Huddlestone, Jenas, Keane, Berbatov and Adu all having better than average chances at goal. The two keepers are battling it out for Englands number 1 jersey a spot Robinson has managed to keep despite some terrible matches for his nation. Going on recent form it would be hard to go past Tottenhams vice captain a clean sheet streak of 9 matches where he has been on absolute fire sees Tottenham top of the league. Their winning record of 9 matches an ominous sign for the rest of the teams. Will this be Tottenhams year? Only time will tell. |

![]() TOTTENHAM TO MEET SUNDERLAND IN ENGLISH CUP Tottenham will use this saturdays league match against Sunderland to test Roy Keanes team ahead of their clash in the English Cup next month. The two will meet after another convincing win from Tottenham over championship side Norwich. The Spurs scoring three goals and keeping their impressive start to the season going with a performance that practically shut out their opponents. Sunderland scrapped through the round after a win over Burnley and will have to step up a notch if they hope to compete with Tottenham. Tottenhams performance again has shown their side is the one to beat this season with Paul Robinson once again unbeaten in goal, his clean sheet record in all matches this season stretching out to 14. Goals from Defoe, Berbatov and Anthony Gardner capped off a game that left Norwich fans drowning their sorrows at the pub. |

![]() ROBBIE KEANE MAGIC Robbie Keane has produced some last minute magic to stretch Tottenhams league winning streak to 10. An inspirational captains goal from Keane saw Sunderland fans in disbelief as the Irish star bamboozled the defence and slotted home an easy goal despite a valiant attempt from Craig Gordan to keep it out. The win also saw Paul Robinson's clean sheet streak for the league also at 10. An unbelievable effort for him seeing there was talk of him being on the outer at the end of last season. After the match he praised the efforts of his team mates once again for their extraordinary defence. And was quick to talk highly of his opposite number Craig Gordan for an unbelivable game. Robinson stating some of the shots he (Gordon) saved today were just out of this world and was unlucky that Keane had managed to put one past him. This was indeed true Gordon had an absolute blinder and the 1-0 loss would definately be hurting him the most. If it wasn't for him Sunderland would of been in a real mess with shots from all over the field being saved by the Scottish keeper. it will be an interestin match next month when the two sides will meet again for their English Cup match. |
