FIFA Patch Problem (PC)

I cant patch2 the game on PC, an error comes up saying
Old file not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match

can you sort it out ive tryed everything and i have a big match up in 1 week and i need to play online

Same prob for me...Mine is NA version, after patching for 78% it says old file found cannot patch. I tried reinstalling the game but same err comes.Help EA...

Whether or not you have the same problem as the others posting in this thread will depend on which file it is trying to update at the time. Move the dialog box out of the way so that you can see what is in the progess dialog underneath. If it is ini_pc.big that has failed then you have the same problem as (apparently) all of those trying to apply the North American patch (NA.exe). If not then post a new screenshot and we'll see if that tells us anything useful.

The big QS now is what is EA gonna do about it? So far, I have not seen any response from EA, their local support does not reply either.

Yah..a response say i should close all the processing programme and start my pc in safty mode.I did it all but still get the same msg and problem while trying installing the lalala patch2!

hello!
i hope EA guys are reading this u guys cant make any games without bugs and cant even release a patch properly and after u relaes a patch it dose not work, if we contact EA customer support instead of looking for ans u blame us say we did not use the right patch!
here is my story and i know for sure their are 100s of people suffering the same problem in my country and in south east asia.
i am from india the pc dvd which is released is with us (english) version of the game the game was working fine with the first patch for fifa08 (let me tell u we faced as problem when first patch was released and EA rectified it after 7days which we missed playing online also u have made same mistake twice).now when the new patch is released it stop at 78% and say old file not match. ur reply is that i am using the wronge version which is not possible coz the first patch is working fine and i am not that dumb to use some other language (just to let u know i am working as a software engg for one of indias top software company).i have written to ea customer service 2 times with the screen shot of the error and dxdaig file and EA is sending me a reply in 24hr with a auto reply saying download right language and uninstall and reinstall the game which i have tried 15time and ur waisting time and u have not even checked the attached error file.simple fact canu u understand if i was using the wronge version of patch it will not run till 78% and stop but it will not run at all.
i hope u get this sorted as soon as possible. i have contacted local ea office who have promised this will be sorted in 5 day for which i will wait. but i have allready spoke to a law firm both local and ea and am planing to take this futher.and this is the problem for all the people using north america version in india.

GUY's reading this on EA have the same problem please add to this post.

yeh ive got this same problem and it happened in 07 as well i couldnt play online for about 7 months untill i decided to randomly try it one day to see if ea fixed... i bought this game to use all the options... ea need to sort there s*** out

That's a pretty close-minded reaction for a software engineer. You should know full well that just because one version of the first patch worked for you it doesn't necessarily mean that another might not have worked too

[Not that I'm suggesting you are wrong, just that programmers generally have a greater willingness to play with things to get them to work. In your position I would already have tried to download all of the versions of both patches and tried them all out (in fact, I've already DLed more than one version myself, and the UK versions worked flawlessly for me first time). RTPatch backs out any changes if the update fails, so you can fiddle to your heart's content and that has to be better than reinstalling the game and trying again, when that didn't work last time]

i have downloaded all the patchs for all languages for fifa 08 dvd not a single one works.my version is north america so NA patch starts and stops at 78% so i guess u guys at ea need to do something because i am not the only one suffering their are many who r using this version and have the same problem. well for a enduser when we buys ur game and pays for that he will expect some help and will hope that all patchs work when he downloads its.i know their is a testing team whos is to check before u go ahead and implement it that patchs are working for all version and all lang as well. now the prob is we cant even log in online to play. i am not payed by ea to do research and development so i except that when i am using north america version and i go to ur option to download patch for NA it should download and then it should patch my game and not stop at 78% which is the case. please check the fourm u will find 100 sufering because some did not do his job properly and checked if all patchs are working fine.that dose not say much about EA. dont get me wrong here i am just giving u a hard time because i am suffring ang i have payed for ur service and as a company u have to do some thing.

Does anyone know what Patch 2 is supposed to fix?

Normally EA will usually list the fixes in Fifa patches, but they've been quiet over this particular patch.

Patch 2 is supposed to fix all problems such as autoswitching/it sets manual controls in ip,easo. Without patch2, over EASO host always will be playing with manual crosses and through balls while client has auto controls.Auto switching is always 50% too.
I am having NA version like sarfarz007 and having the same prob.@ 78% when it tries to patch ini_pc.big file it gives an err "Old file not found".This time NA version is released in my country and patch is not working now.EA please fix the prob asap so that we can play and enjoy the game online

well get this guys! at the end of the day patch#2 Na.exe is courrupted! until they fix it we are all stuck! and i dont think they ever will! and if they dont im never playing this game again! screw EA! im sick of this ****!

EA your NA patch cannot work. What are you gonna do about it? And when? Please, if you can't get a patch right, STOP DOING THIS PATCHING CRAB.

yup just to add to the growing number of unhappy customers, the NA patch isnt working, and i think its ridiculous that our concerns have not been acknowledged, let alone the problem solved.

i have tried to install patch 2 for fifa 08 on windows vista but when i do it tells me that programe stopped working and then closes it. i have got some suggestion from ea like deleteing temp files and closeing some processes and loading in safe mode. thay then got me to try a manual uninstall and reload but that did'nt work. i can not play online till i install the patch, i wish thay would have just never done a patch i would have been fine.

Mine stops at Seventeen percent on config.dat. I dont actually know which version I have so that might be the problem because I'm in New Zealand and there isnt an option for that on the web site any suggestions would be fantastic.
