FIFA 09 ideas and suggestions

**Note**
This is a message for the EA production and creation team who make all the FIFA games possible.

Dear EA
After looking at FIFA 07 and FIFA 08 on the XBox 360 and FIFA 08 on the Sony Playstation 3. I have come up with the following ideas in which the next edition in the FIFA series can become a bigger success and an overall improvement on the previous games on the consoles (above). And here they are:

1 ) Shirt Length: In edit mode, when editing a players shirt length (short/long). To imply the idea of a medium length i.e how Cristiano Ronaldo now has his sleeve length when playing for Manchester United.

2 ) Wrist Bands With Shirt Length: With that in mind, to imply the idea of being able to wear wrist bands with a medium sleeve length shirt i.e Again, referring back to Cristiano Ronaldo when playing for Manchester United.

3 ) Different Coloured Licenced Boots: Again, still in edit mode. When selecting boots to give to players (including ones that have been unlocked and bought in 'Fan Shop', to imply the idea of being able to change the colour of boots. i.e If a pair of white and red Nike Mercurial Vapors are made available through the 'Fan Shop' mode. Then when selecting them for a player, then the boot colour can be changed with a colour palette that are actually available for that type/style of boot.

4 ) Create-A-Player: When creating a player and using the EXP points that have been bought/purchased through the 'Fan Shop'. There should be enough points for the player to make him a top player with an overall of '90'. Meaning created players can do skills moves like the 'Rabona'. etc.

5 ) Player Animations: More player animations i.e When a player is penalised for a foul, but not given a booking. At certain times, the player argues with the referee as he feels that the tackle/challenge wasn't a foul.

6 ) Referee's & Officials: To have a fully viewable referee running around on the pitch with the players and also possibly the linesmen aswell.

7 ) Team Substitutions: When making a substitute.. If implementing more than one substitute at once for the same team, then to imply the idea of showing who is being brought onto the pitch and possibly show the exchanging players interact with each other. (i.e clap hands together. etc.) and maybe show a team official showing the number board for the players being exchanged.

8 ) Skills With Pace: Being able to run at a faster pace when doing skills like stepovers (not reverse stepovers) as I feel at the moment, the speed can tend to feel a little slow.

9 ) Skills On Opponents: For the opponent to actually respond more to the skills being done on them. Have a look at the following video taken from FIFA 07 on the PS2 for a more specific insight on the opponents reactions to skills.

I currently feel that the curent and recent FIFA games on the Next-Gen consoles (XBox 360 & PS3) are of high class, but I think, that with these ideas being implemented in the next edition in the FIFA series. We (as a gaming/FIFA gaming community) may be looking at the most realistic football experience.

I would love to see hand balls being called and the weather being a factor in games like water logged fields when rain falls.Also i would like to see a superstar mode where u create a player and start a career where if u play well u might be called up to play for a top quality team and if u excel then the prize is sweeter as a call from YOUR national team is the highest reward.

1.-Give us the ability to control the keeper
2.-The ability to call the keeper, when we are losing, and we have a free kick or a corner kick having him running and trying to score like in the pc
3.-Add when players are called to their national team ask us if we want to play that game with one of the called players that i own, as the be a pro mode.

6.-Dont make us play in the same stadium over and over, just pick one randomnly , for example in one im local and play in de las artes, but then if the next one im local too then i would like to play on other, doesnt need to be from another big team, just i dont know the ones you make that are named uk div 1 or something like that.

1) Have a game mode called " Build a Stadium " Preferably in Manager Mode where your team can move stadiums.

2) Create a player in " Be a pro " SEASON and impress the manager/ coach to pick you for the next match, Train in training sessions + Plan out what you do when you retire.

3) Be able to see the referee and linesmen in matches

4) Have an option so you can kick the ball away and get a yellow card

5) Have a massive variety of goal celebrations

6) Be able to dive and fool the referee

7) Score a goal and whilst your player is celebrating, have the linesmen/ referee blow for offside.

Be able to jump into the crowd and suffer the consequences
9) In manager mode be able to create your own manager and walk around the changing rooms and see the players shirts and boots

10) In manager mode, be the manager ( GTA camera view ) and stay in the little box during matches and shout at the referee and players

@Staticthreat7: good ideas, but I don't diving will be part of the game given that it's the official FIFA product and FIFA is totally against diving. Yes it's part of the game, but I don't think we want to encourage it because it's very unsportsman-like so I doubt putting it in a video game will make things better.

First of all I would like to congratulate EA on re-converting me from Pro Evolution Soccer. I played FiFa games from FiFa 99 to FiFa 04 before switching to Pro Evo, but FiFa 08 was a much improved effort over previous games and outshone Pro Evolution.
I have compiled a list of 100 improvements that I feel would improve FiFa and cement my position as a FiFa fan with FiFa 09

ESSENTIALS

1) Have a TV company sponsor the game to make it feel more like you’re watching a match on TV (Sky Sports , Setanta , maybe ESPN) although don't overuse the TV companies name or make it too commercial (e.g. "Setanta Sports' FiFa 2009") But please don't have a made up TV company like EA Sports TV , the EA Sports Boots are bad enough).

- European Championships
- Copa America
- African Cup of Nations
- World Club Championships
- Champions League (Not EEC)

3) Better Commentary
- This is hard to explain but say if there is a shot that is narrowly wide have the commentator stop what he is saying and go "Oooooooh" or something. In FiFa 20008 he says all the build up and by the time he comments on the shot the GK has already taken the kick out.
- Add a third commentator and switch between him and Andy Gray throughout the season, this would give the game more variety

77) Be able to mix + match kits (Manchester United wear either black, white or red shorts when they are wearing their red jersey)
78] More Camera Angles (Broadcast, Bird’s Eye)
79) Much More Player traits (Football Manager 08 has over 50)
80) Be able to wear neck-warmers (Rolando Bianchi, Manchester City)
81) Club Personalities e.g. Arsenal like to play the ball short and slowly build up attacks but Bolton Wanderers play long balls up to a target man
82) In Manager Mode, be able to compare one of your players with a transfer target
83) Have different size pitch dimension (Emirates Stadium is very wide but Div 2 England is short and narrow)
84) If your team is losing late in the game you are showed cut-scenes of fans leaving the stadium
85) Don’t have the defenders congratulating the forward after a goal, this is unrealistic
86) Louder SFX (Ball hitting post/hoardings, net rippling)
87) More personalized menus, In FiFa 2004 the background was of your favourite teams jersey
88] Lots more multiple choice questions in Manager Mode, after 1 season you seem to be getting the same ones again and again
89) In Manager Mode you should be able to find out info about teams in other leagues
90) Be able to pick a vice-captain
91) Be able to pick what players go into the box for corners (Like PES)
92) If a player is injured for 5 weeks you should be able to play him after 4 weeks but he risks further injury
93) Goalkeeper occasionally wears a baseball cap if it is a sunny day
94) Be able to call a player short when taking a free kick
95) When crossing a free kick have one of your players run over the ball thus disorganising the other teams defence
96) When defending a free kick choose what action your wall carries out
97) Players dive in front of the ball if a close range shot is taken in a crowded penalty area
98] Goal Updates go across the bottom of the screen and fans cheer if a rival team concede a goal
99) Fans boo loudly at the end of a game that you have performed badly in
100) Be able to just play a penalty shootout without going through a whole match

me and my mate are droylsden fc fans (im more of a manchester city fan though!) and my other mate is a massive torquay fan because of his dad however they have only got one game with their clubs on it (football manager 200 ive got fifa 08 so ive got city

so i think adding the conference would be brilliant (but droylsden are going down i think )

errrmm. i like the ideas about the offsides and the refereeing and i think the best one s far though is the be a pro idea

i think you should be able to create a player and start on the free agents list on a be a pro seasin and a low club will put a contract in for you someone in the lowest league though and should be able to train talk to other clubs about transfers and build up a social life with your player with sponsors, also you should be able to speak to the manager about things and maybe even do something like autograph signing

more stadiums would be good and when you increase the stats of the stadium you should move stadium. for example you are stockport and you are at the div 2 stadium when you get promoted and do up your stadium you could move say to premiership stadium.

all these ideas by the way is for xbox 360 plz lalalala

JoeJoe, those are some great suggestions. I have some of my own:
- Ability to play Be A Pro in multiplayer, so, for example, I could be Wayne Rooney and a friend could be Cristiano Ronaldo. Or, we could both play on opposite sides, so I could be Rooney and he could be Drogba, maybe.
- In addition to Create a Team, edit a team: edit their kit, crest, sponsor, etc.
- Choose referee strictness
- Ability to unlock 'Classic' teams from the shop: Classic Brazil, Classic England, Classic Man United, etc.
- Past stadiums: Old Wembley, Highbury, Old Munich Olypiastadion, etc.

Control one player
Not during the game but like chose the team wiith the best sallary
and get sponsored and the more money you get the more people want to sponser you
and then you can go to the field for practice all by your self and get better stats to make you go to better teams and more money from sponsors

I would also suggest 'spicing up' the Classic XI side and including such names as:

- Peter Schmeichel (hey the team needs another keeper apart from Ravelli all the time)
- Lev Yashin
- Karl Heinze Rummenegge
- Roberto Baggio
- Daniel Passarella
- Marco Van Basten


and more defensive midfielders and defenders to make the sides more catchy

I have a problem buying players from rival clubs. I asume you all have the same problem. You never get a player from your rival club. This is not the reality of todays football. AC Milan and Inter, hot rivals, exchange players all the time in real life. I agree that it should be hard to get a rival club player, but not impossible. I hope EA change this for FIFA09.

I also see a lot of other good ideas here too.

I hope you can pass these ideas on. Here's mine:

To help put more player customization on the Arena, it would be cool if you could buy tools and training gear for your Arena with your exp in the EA Shop. Such as a wall for freekicks, or maybe some cones for dribbling, or even buying newer, better Arenas, possibly buying aa small crowd to cheer you on.

why u guys only beg for cosmetics changes? Argentinian, African leagues or whatever, who cares if they all play the same at the end of the day? The thing which seems to me more important than anything is the AI : that every team plays differently, like an italian team defending a lot, and so on...
I think that the manager mode need a lot of improvement too. Right now, the be a pro mode is not rewarding enough, and the online mode need some tweaks to get rid of all the morons , and in my opinion, FIFA still has an arcade feeling that need to be fix. But apoart from that, EA did a great job this year comparing to PES

In world there are quite many clubs that dont come from very strong nation but the win their league and preform good results in the cups
So ea should consider making a league where are teams from nations whos league isnt strong but the club(-s) are
Like in estonia there is FC LEVADIA it has won the league and cup twice a row and played very good in UEFA aginst newcastle

first of all I want to say that Fifa 08 is a great game. Your best so far. Here i som of my ideas for the next game:

I would really like national anthems before games between national teams. It has been a little of it on earlier games, but that was only the last parts of the melodies. I would like the whole anthem, and the crowd singing along. Imagine playing with England at Wembley, Germany in Berlin etc. singing the national anthem loud and proud. that would set the right feeling before the game starts.
I would also like to see more cut-scenes before, and during the game, 3d-crowd, and longer pre-match scenes beside the national anthems.
Life like managers on the sideline, during goals for and against, and other cut-scenes.
More stadiums would be great, and different type of goals and goal nets, not just only one type on all the stadiums.

A thing that would be great is when you start a custom international cup you should be able to choose which stadiums that are gonna be used in the tournament and you choose the host nation so the home team gets the best support from the crowd.

The stadiums should be more individual when it comes to the pitch, the atmosphere, the goals and goal nets, the crowd/fans etc etc. playing on the stadiums should feel different from stadium to stadium and not the same on all of them.

If these things would be included in the next Fifa game, it would be fantastic.

And continue the great development of the gameplay. Fifa 08 was a huge step forward, and it’s so much better than the previous games.

I want better overall atmosphere during games. And especially during derby games.
When you score the home team should go wild, especially after a late winner or equalizer. In Fifa 08 I think that part is pretty bad and it was better on fifa 06, 07 and the world cup 06 game

Am i the only one who has issues with the ageing of the players in manager mode??

I mean, it's all good that i get 20 years as manager. But it takes away a lot of the fun when after 10 years most of the famous players/faces has retired. After 13 years ALL famous players are gone. And how fun is it to have a team for the last 7 years consisting of made up players?

My conclusion. There should be an on/off ageing option.


Another thing i've always hoped for in the fifa games was the commentators ability to pronounce the gamers made-up names of his/hers created players. That would be sooo cool. But i'm sure that will be in a very distant future.

On a plus side, i love the way the commentators are chit chatting about players, clubs and stadiums in this 2008 version. I would like to see even more of that in Fifa 2009.

Noo, my idea is brilliant.

I think a lot of people will agree with me, that it's much more fun to play with, lets say Messi, than some made up 18 year old Gonzales Jabbar, even tho Jabbar's skills are almost 99 ovr.
